Players contracts

The only real error poom made was when he kicked it straight to doyle (i think). But he will be on a big wage so I think that we should save money and use loach. Tbh loach is ok atm but could be a great goalkeeper and is the cheaper and young option.

 

Wasn't it Jonathan Walters? Doesn't matter, like you say thats the only big clanger he dropped.

Loach COULD be a great keeper, but he's nowhere near that at the moment. He's distinctly average. He's far too static on his lines and doesn't strike me full of confidence when the opposition are crossing balls into the box.

 

I agree but save some money and clear poom and lee out, that what about 10-12k a week?

If we can get a better goalkeeper in for a medium/small fee then i'm all for it. But i don't think that we should loan one in as i think that we need to establish a keeper for us that will be there on a permanent basis.

At least loach doesnt make as many errors as lee. Loach can surely only get better, cant he?

 

Poom has been very unlucky IMO as I am sure he would be our No1 if it were not for his injuries!!!

Despite his wages I would be inclined to keep him at the club if he was not so injury prone, but the combination of his high wages and his injury problems makes him a commodity we cannot afford in our present financial state.

Therefore with a sad heart I would be inclined to release him when his contract is up, unless we can get a fee for him of course!!!

As for Lee I would probably offer him another couple of years as he is a great No2 GK to have on the books, but after that I reckon one of our very promising youngsters will be ready to step up and start competing with Loach for the No1 jersey.

He is much younger though - he is but a spring chicken in the world of keepers. He can only get better.

I'm afraid Sir Richard won't be able to perform a magical staying act this time around, as he is getting on a little bit and needs to start turning out for a first team I think. Sad times.

 

While I agree with you on the fact that Henderson, Parkes etc. will never go on to be decent championship players, I disagree with you on Williamson and Hoskins.

Only a little while ago, people were saying that Williamson was our best midfielder and one of our best players. On his day, he is a very good player. Hoskins is still young-ish and when he has been involved, you can see that he has an eye for goal as well as pace. He was proven in league 1, and has done little wrong for us so far. He has to prove himself, and Williamson needs to be consistent, but both are decent players who could go on to be good players.

 

Poom and Henderson should go. Poom is too injury prone and Henderson we play 1 striker upfront and we have Priskin,Rasiak & Hoskins and Theo looks a much better prospect.

I would keep Doyley and Mariappa but ideally as just squad players and get better players in.

 

Got to agree Williamson can more than hold his own in this division and he was our best midfielder before he had the injury so I can't understand why people have changed their views about him. He is certainly a better player than Jenkins not that I think BR should change the team at the moment because Jenko hasn't done much wrong. At least its nice to have good competition in the middle of the park

 

I think i worded it a bit wrong about Williamson (Hoskins still wouldn't be missed), i probably should have said that if Williamson was sold then we wouldn't exactly find it difficult to replace him.

 

could someone tell me what has happened to aaron beech? he was meant to be released but ive heard they have given him another chance?? can anyone shed any light on this subject for me?

well,i found out that he may have an agent now and they are looking at selling him to...wait for it...... you ready for this..............LUTON!!!!!!!!!!

I dont see why so many people dislike Mariappa, i cant think of anything hes done wrong.

 

He does many things wrong

 

he's error prone. He's actually an OK right-back, but when he plays centre-back he gives me the feeling he'll always make a mistake, which at centre-back is dangerous. He's less likely to damage us when playing at RB.

 

Rodgers said that Williams hasn't been offered a new contract and I doubt that has changed under Malky.

 

I have heard that they are giving williams a three year contract and upping his wages as they think he will be a crucial player for us over the next few seasons if his knee gets better.

 

Well everytime he attempts a comeback, his knee seems to **** up again, so I can't see the point in us:

a. upping his wages
b. keep paying out on medical bills when we have had nothing from him basically since he signed

At this stage only McAnuff and Priskin would get new contracts but it's a case of waiting to see how they do, for the others, mainly the youngsters.

Well I don't know what everyone is earning but I could guess. (these are not 100% and for the most part they are guesses.

The problem is that the fringe players are not as much outside the wage structure but are paid what regular first teamers and star performers could be earning and our star performers are earning way too much.

Ellington by the way is in a league of his own.
