Poom is too expensive, as is Williams and Rasiak...not to mention all three are injury prone.

Ashikodi won't get a chance here, so no point keeping him. Mariappa is utterly sh*t, so I would be furious if he was offered a new deal!

I would keep Rasiak, not Williams, its as if we're paying him for nothing. I would also keep young and Henderson, as we may be able to still offer them a low-ish salary. Poom is too old, maybe 2 seasons left in him and as for Mariappa- cheerio ! Oh and Richard Lee as 2nd choice keeper behind Loach.

I'd keep Williams personally. Give him one more year to prove his fitness. Not his fault he got injured.
Poom can go, he's old and crippled. Keep Mariappa, if he gets a good run of games somehow Spurs can buy him for £15 million. Ashikodi can go, hardly set alight League One with Hereford.
Sign up Lee for another 3 years or so. He's good at what he does.

 

It's not his fault, no, but for a bloke on a 2.5yr contract to potentially manage less starts than I can count on one hand is pathetic whichever way you look at it. He doesn't need one more year.

Why give someone £6,000 per week (or whatever ridiculous wage he's on), to warm our physio table for another 12 months?!

Do you really think a club in our position can afford to do that?!

 

Exactly. We could get a new left back for that. When did Gareth Williams last play?

 

Cut his wages then, put him down to about £3,000, around that. Or just put him onto a contract until January.

None of the others make any sense to renew. Maricrappa is a poor utility man, and even though he did come through the academy which gives him a bit of leeway, he will never be good enough IMO.

 

Not sure about Mariappa, depends how much he's on and when Doyleys contract is up - one of em has to go, but to lose both might leave us with no cover (though some would argue that that isn't any worse than them staying )

Is Ashikodi the longest serving player not to get a league game?! Or did he play and i've forgotten

Not known as yet but he seems very highly rated by Rodgers so I imagine he'll get a new contract.

 

Same along with lee or poom and young i would guess. Personally i would sign mariappa, bennett, young and hendo. I think that Antal and North can't be that bad for cover along with Searle, save some money. But if loach does get injured and we are struggling with second choice goalie get one on loan for a bit.

His contract at Arsenal is long term.

Whilst Cork's contract at Chelsea expires in 2009

 

He's cack, clearly not going to make it whilst he's hardly had rave reviews from the reserves/Kettering.

 

Basically out of that lot, Mariappa gets offered a new contract and if miracles happen Cork will not sign a new one at Chelsea and join us.

I would also perhaps offer 6 months contracts to the likes of Young to see if he progresses any more over the summer but feel we have missed out by not loaning him to a lower league team to build him up a bit more and get used to being kicked around.

Lee getting a run out in the stiffs tonight could indicate the club putting him in the shop window or it might be Rodgers getting a final assessment on him before deciding to offer a contract or not.

Kabba and Willaims have proven to be two attrocious purchases for us, the amount of money they have cost in return for about 15 appearences and one goal between them is astonomical. Hope we can perhaps terminate them ASAP.

We also need to desperately start negotiations with all thoses who expire in 2010, assuming we stay up that is. The likes of Lee WIlliamson might take some talking due to him not being in the team at the moment and we don't want him to go on a free in 15 months time as he is a salable asset. Priskin and the much improved McAnuff will also be the same, hoping on considerably less wages

 

Don't know why we haven't extended L.Young contract yet, he looks a potentially a good player. He won't exactly be on a lot of money either
