Players contracts

Going to move this over to the transfers section now that the window has closed and there's a lot of transfer debate here.

 

We had better offer Bennet a new improved contract, he had another blinder down at Plymouth last night.

 

Loach- 2012
he will be sold way b4 it runs out

 

It will. I don't think I'd offer any of them a contract yet, alot of youngsters in there so they'll have to really prove themselves to have potential this season. Harley and Hoskins are the two that I'd definitely release at the moment, but, even though I doubt it will happen, they might just really impress later on this season.

 

Well I hope Eustace is given a new contract after the way he has played this year so far and the fact that he re-negotiated it so that we do not have to pay him as much appearance money.

Demerit will get an offer, whether he will take it I do not know and I am sure Bennet, Kiernan and Sordell will be offered terms. The others will most likely go, including Lee, who must surely want first team football at his age (of course Loach might be sold by then!)

 

What i would do

DeMerit- New deal, one or two years

North- Not sure depends how good Bo Antal is, if richard lee goes or loach does. Plus i have only seen him a few times and never really had anything to do.

Harley- Maybe let him go, personally i think he should be given a run at left back. I think that he will do better than doyley there after being given a nice run.

Lee- Depends if loach goes, but i suppose as second choice he would be fine but would he want to stay on that?

Bennett- New deal two years i would guess. I was impressed after seeing him in the reserves and after his two first team starts recently the boy did great.

Hoskins- I would give him a new deal and i think he should be used more but if malky isnt going to use him them there's no point given him a new contract.

Henderson- Umm not sure too early to tell i would say

Young- Atm no after seeing him maybe three times never done a lot. Again maybe to early to tell

Parkes- Not sure leave it atm

Eustace- Already signed a new deal hasnt he? Another season just i think

Kiernan- Looks a fairly decent player give him another season or two, still young and therefore wages wont be to high

Sordell- Not sure about him any striker with pace and strength can be lethal if they have at least some technical ability. To me his technical ability isnt good enough but like i said earlier due to his speed and strength i would give him a bit more time.

Gibson- Didnt look good to me when seeing him in the reserves looks northing special plenty of players like him at small clubs and semi pro clubs, let him go.

 

DeMerit- 2010 - Yes, so long as we can afford it.
North- 2010 - No.
Harley- 2010 - God love him, but he don't play. No.
Lee- 2010 - Yes. Pefectly good number two for another year.
Bennett- 2010 - Yes 2 years to develop.
Hoskins- 2010 - Not unless Malky's actually gonna use him.
Henderson- 2010 - No.
Young- 2010 - No.
Parkes- 2010 -No.
Eustace- 2010 - Another year.
Kiernan- 2010 - Decent prospect, 2 more years.
Sordell- 2010 - See how he goes this year.
Gibson- 2010 - Another year after injuries.

 

Pretty much agree although i'd keep Harley, i can't imagine he's breaking the bank and adds much needed experience, versatility and cover to the squad.

 

Actually I'd go along with keeping Harley.

 

My powers of persuasion do the trick yet again.

These are the ones whose contracts run out in the summer, who would you give a new deal? or would you wait and see how they perform.

 

The ones I feel qualified to comment on.

DeMerit - if we can afford him but unlikely so sell now
Harley - if we can afford him
Lee - yes a good number 2 and potential back room staffer
Bennett - yes
Hoskins - no point if we're not playing him
Henderson - yes if reasonable wage
Young - yes
Eustace - if we can afford him
Sordell - hearing good things so yes

 

DeMerit - i would like him to stay, but he certainly does not fit with our wage structure at the moment, YES

North - not a clue?

Harley - useful player to have in the squad yes

Lee - probably the best second string keeper we could get yes

Bennett - yes, very impressed earlier in the season, he could be demerits replacement yes

Hoskins - no get rid, waste of space and wages

Henderson - he has a lot to offer and is only young, yes

Young - surely worth keeping on the basis of his brothers talent, may be a late bloomer yes

Parkes - i hear good things, reserve captain now right? expect good things next year yes

Eustace - similar to demerit, his experience is key, if willing to lower wage slightly to fit our wage bill then a definate yes

Kiernan - not a clue

Sordell - not seen him play, one for the future yes

Gibson - not a clue

Antal - he is tall, which is always a good quality in a keeper, yes

 

JD wont be here next season, so we might as well sell him in January to ensure he doesnt walk away for nothing.

I dont think Rich Lee will settle for another season on the bench, so I think he will go.

Harley I'd keep, he's experienced and he has that bit of quality from the wide areas that we lack at the moment.

Eustace could be a problem as far as wages is concerned, while the likes of Bennett, Sordell and Young are all worth a new deal.

Henderson I'd let go, as I would with Hoskins

North - See how he turns out, he's still young especially for a keeper
Harley - Good squad player, keep
Lee - Keep especially if loach goes, still a quality keeper IMO
Bennett - Get him a new deal, could be a great players
Hoskins - Farrrrrk off
Henderson - Give him another year
Young - Hasnt been given a chance really?
Parkes - Supposed to play for england? Havent seen much from him really, let go.
Eustace - Another year, see how it goes
Kiernan - Still Young, havent seen anything from him
Sordell - Keep, looks a handy striker
Gibson - Havent seen much from him either, add a year see how it goes

 

Demerit will be gone in the Summer.

If we dont go up

 

DeMerit - Like to keep, but best to try and get something for him in Jan as he has said he will be looking at moving after the WC.

North - Only if we need him, but probably not.

Harley - Probably yes, we need some experience in the squad to bring the youngsters on.

Lee - Definitely Yes, as there is a good chance he will be our No 1 as Loach may have to be sacrificed to the money god, but I would keep him anyway as I am sure he is not too unhappy as a No2.

Bennett - Yes from what I have seen of him, it won't be long before he is a regular 1st teamer.

Hoskins - We must make every effort to sell him in January, as he clearly does not fit into MM's plans. Although I do not understand why?

Henderson - Until the QPR game I would have said let him go, but he might be worth another year?

Young - He has never impressed me, so I think we should try to off load him.

Parkes - A bit of an enigma this one, but probably worth another year?

Eustace - If we can afford him Yes.

Kiernan - Don't know a lot about the lad, but I've heard some good things, so probably yes.

Sordell - Yes, the lad has looked OK so far.

Gibson - Don't no much about him, so not sure?

Antal - Ditto above, but if Loach goes he should probably stay.

 

Apart from the 4 I've pointed out, can't say I'd be too worried about any going.

Bryan, Sordell and Gibson are pretty hard to judge, seeing as they've had few games for Watford.

Wouldn't mind Hoskins staying, but £7k a week is a lot and Buckley seems to be pretty similar.

 

I think Eustace has had a good season for us this season, but I expect he will be too expensive to keep.

I'd imagine a lot would depend on if we stay up or not - if we don't, the likes of Harley and Eustace will probably leave, but if we stay up we may have a chance of keeping them.

Especially as we'll get a percentage of Newcastle's and West Brom's parachute payments when they go back up, assuming we stay up!

I agree but i would keep hoskins as long a she is given a chance otherwise its a waste of money. Also with change of captain as jay is a good player but not captain material

 

Has anyone been to enough reserve/youth games to judge North, Young, Bryan, Sordell or Gibson properly? I'd like to know just how good they are, and they've played few or no games this year...
