We live in a strange strange world. A sport that can pay almost €2m a year to a teenager who does not play for a first team has to be dysfunctional. That amount per year would be sufficient keep a large number of sports clubs afloat. Anyone involved in collecting money for local clubs will know what it is like to sell raffle tickets or get involved in bucket collections. If your club raised £5k, you would be over the moon. That would represent 1/7th of the purported weekly salary of this teenager. I have no gripe with Nath, he just did the best deal he could, but the type of figures quoted are obscene. I agree with the views expressed that we should not consider paying anyway near this amount for a player.
That will never change. The Pozzo's do not pay silly money. Look at the Udinese wage structure. If you expect us to pay £20k a week or whatever Chelsea want for a player then you will always be disappointed Chelsea clearly care more about money than the future of the player
Zigis was apparently on £60k a week last year. Written in to his contract that it goes up every year. What a bargain he is!!
Zigic is now on £74k a week. Back to NC, should we really be paying him as much as Udinese pay DiNatale? (Answer, duurrr, is No.)
How ****ing much?! And no, we shouldn't. You don't become a successful, sustainable club (as outlined as the intention of the Pozzo takeover) if we spend silly amounts.
Shame Chelsea are putting money before player development but what's new? There's no way we should pay his wages in full, he's good but not that good yet. Now we have a chance to find another unknown and make him a star this season.
Maybe I'm missing something but is any team apart from QPR willing or able to pay that for an 18 yr old ? At forest and Wigan he d be the biggest earner no ? That's gonna cause unrest in the changing room Id imagine . I'm really glad that we ve got owners who don't play ball . It may cost us it may not , but I don't care . I'd rather have some integrity in my club
I doubt Wigan would pay that much. They aren't likely to based on their current wage structure either. Nick Powell is only on around £5k p/w apparently. Forest, probably would. New wealthy owners who have splashed the cash so far and are looking for promotion at any cost it would seem.
Unfortunately, it isn't down to him. It'll be down to Chelsea and they are contracted to pay him the wages. If Forest are genuinely in for him, they will pay and he will get the game time. It won't be the same experience/team play as here though.
Agreed, its a shame for NC. One of the reasons McGugan left Forest was he was played out of position on the left or started on the bench because he was considered too much of a 'luxury' in the middle. Now Chalobah , an incredible talent, is not the greatest defensively. Forest seems a strange fit . Hed be better of going to Wigan imo
Any speculation yet as to who these other potential loanees we're apparently interested in are? Presumably foreign players.
I agree. The sad fact is that it does seem to be sustainable and it will stay that way unless fans start to resist ever increasing prices for tickets, merchandise etc
Thats wrong wrong wrong. They should levy a tax on all EPL clubs that is ploughed back into the grassroots of the game. I believe there is some kind of vehicle in place already but is so littel to be ineffective.
I'm pretty sure you cannot sign foreign players in the emergency loan window. They will be a mixture of Premiership players who have not been registered in the 25 man squad, and under 21's who are far from the first team. No names have really been mentioned yet.
Is it not billionaire Oligarchs (and others) giving rise to unsustainable wages and transfer fees that is causing the problem and smaller clubs trying to play Billy Big B*&^$x with them?
I would be happy to see Chalobah back but no way should we pay him that money especially because we don't need him that much. We already have a number of talented midfielders and it is obvious that we are in need for a defensive midfielder to give our midfield a bit more bite. As good as Chalobah is and was for us last season he occasionally got bullied out of games.
The wages are a bit of a joke really, and it's such a shame that it's so difficult to get him back. We've got a decent midfield as it is but I don't see how people don't think we'd be stronger for having him back.
According to Pete O'Rourke on Twitter, who works for Sky Sports, Forest are set to win the race to sign him. Unfortunate but the wages are absurd. McEachran would be a good option, again dependant on wages, then there's Larnell Cole, a few Arsenal youngsters.
He isn't worth that level of wages, but it's ****ing gutting that he's not coming back and equally gutting he's going to a promotion rival.
Forest wouldn't be a bad choice for Chalobah, they've got a decent squad and are going to push this year. Just a bit of a let down for us. Ake may be a good choice but he is on high wages too and he has stated that he does want to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place. Also, with Chalobah, other teams will have difficulty fitting him in. Don't forget, he wasn't a defensive midfielder until he came here. An alternative may be an unknown prospect, until Chalobah played nobody knew what we were getting.
Nothing Confirmed except that Sunderland rejected a loan bid from forest for Catermole.. If they are paying his wages in full it'll really irk some other members of their squad could be a disaster. lets hope for a forest meltdown :sign13:
