Yet if we were to fail to secure promotion this year how many of our 'fans' would be calling for Zola's head? I can think of three or four on this forum alone.
Anya is the best example, shows what a fantastic coach can do with a raw player that has good potential.
Will be happy to see him back as he's undeniably a quality player at this level. I wouldn't be 'gutted' if he didn't come back, as I think Connor Smith and Sean Murray have the ability to be as good, not to mention we have Battocchio that can't get in the side at the moment.
Chalobah provides a spark that I think we may be missing slightly. He seems to speed up the pace of our game when he's playing and provides an occasional killer pass. He isn't perfect, and whilst I wouldn't despair if he didn't sign, if he did he would be a real asset. He could make the difference between getting into the playoffs and automatic promotion
totally agree with this , the lad is class ,however whether we should break the bank for him is debatable . Of course we dont want him going to percieved main rivals either!
I'd say we are still currently the favourites to end up with Chalobah. The player wants to be here, even if it was his fall back option after the premier league. As for his ability, we all know how good he can be but we also know how inexperienced he is. Another season with us will be best for all.
Me for a start. If Zola doesn't get us promoted, then I'm sorry, but he has to go. I can't believe that there are people who seriously think otherwise.
Bloody good road that... A3, M275, and then you're in paradise... (just don't stop in Fratton, that's a sh*thole).
Now that is a sh*thole. Paulsgrove is famous for one thing and one thing only........... The location where all the locals took the law into their own hands to out a group of paedophiles from their community. It was misunderstood that the 'pediatrician mix-up' took place there. It didn't, this was in Wales.
The Pozzo's have never been shy about going through managers at Udinese at a rate of knots; nothing will surprise me if Zola fails to achieve promotion after the quality squad he's been given.
It's bad enough not getting the player back. But to lose him to rivals is difficult to take. At least it's not QPR Encouraginly there are other targets which have been identified so let's hope we have unearthed another gem from somewhere.
It seems the only sticking point on this is wages - which has always been a case for Watford. There are other clubs that will pay this amount though. Hoping common sense prevails.
I'm wondering if Zola's comments in the WO are Watford playing smart, basically we would love to have NC back but we won't break the bank for him. Chelsea need him playing and we're surely the best place for him. As already said hopefully common sense will prevail.
Only money will win this one. A bit worrying that our targets are missed due to finances. This means we will have to get loanees from non premier clubs at this rate. This is an ideal example for Greg ***** to use in his arguments. Develop the player at a passing team or sell him to hoofers for financial gain
I sure every young Chelsea player would love to work with the Chelsea legend that is Zola. As football is a money orientated business, I have a feeling that this will be the ultimate factor in any move.
Just read the Wobby report. I cannot believe Chelsea's stance on this. Disgusting. It could be Zola playing it cool, though, knowing he has the player firmly on his side. If Nat makes it clear he'd much prefer to come here, as reports have suggested he already has done, then hopefully common sense will prevail, as Chris says.
I'm glad the Pozzos are sticking to the "Watford way" I don't think breaking the bank for any player, at any age, is going to help us - even if they are the next big thing. Chelsea took a risk when handing him a, reportedly, high wage contract. It has been stated on here that it is far less that £30/35k, but the longer the issue stretches out it is looking more likely that this is the case.
I don't know if Zola is that tactical but we will see. 30k for an 18 year old who has NEVER played for your first team is absolutely bonkers, and I wonder how many are on that kind of salary. Before tax too... There are plenty of players we can get who are unregistered or from less insane clubs than Chelsea; we definitely need more grit, but I'd absolutely love Januzaj from Man Utd.
For 30k a week he can go to someone else. We should never be paying that sort of money for an 18 year old loanee. Chelsea can do one as well, scumbags.
Well with the possibility of his return looking good for so long, it's a shame it's going to end with him going elsewhere. For what it's worth, I hope he does end up at Forest if not us, because if not then his employers have some answering to do in my opinion.
