I hope we win all our games and Southgate is knighted.

 

I hope my luke warm tepid indifference to the England team is slowly brought to the boil with some outstanding performances as we majestically sweep to the final.

But I think there may just be some hot flushes and a few moments of excitement on a typical journey of ultimate failure by an England team with excellent individual players who won’t play as a cohesive team.

 

I've got no connection with this England team, it should be fun to watch with the players we've got but under Southgate it's slow, negative drivel. Hopefully we get knocked out early doors and we can all go back to forgetting about the national team. All I'm waiting for is that first day of pre-season when we get to see Fletch looking gorgeous in the new training kit.

 

This Wales match is a great advert for the tennis.

 

Hope we don't sign Seferovic. I'd rather watch Gray for another season than this donkey. Boring match so far, Switzerland with all that possession they had managed to make just one good chance. Wales apart from some dangerous runs by James and that header from Moore very poor too.

I haven't felt enthusiasm for an England team since 96. Since then its just a never ending conveyor belt of over rated tepid talksporty plastic nothingness

It was so much more fun following England around Europe in the 80s. We were absolute gash then but no one ever had any expectation otherwise

He did well to make two other chances out of nothing in the first half.

Aside from his play in front of goal his movement and hold-up play has generally been very, very good though. He brings the ball down well, holds off defenders and then brings others in to play.

Moore has been very good in the air and has got a goal from it. Aside from his two headers he's been poor and not in the game at all.

What did he do apart from missing great chances and sending terrible backward passes. Apart from some decent movement I haven't seen anything good from Seferovic.

Dan James and Shaqiri have also both had good games and got subbed even earlier. But of course that automatically makes them even worse players.

Yeah completely ignore the myriad of times he's received the ball under pressure from the opposition centre backs, brushed them off and then brought his teammates in to play.

Also completely ignore that 2 of his 3 chances were ones he created out of nothing after working the ball well.

Also ignore that the supposed best chance he missed was from a crap pass hit straight at him, making it impossible to run on to or adjust his feet in time, something the BBC commentator pointed out as well.

The BBC commentator didn't have an agenda. You and LouOrns are the ones with your blinkers on.

When was the last Deeney and Gray successfully held off an opposition CB, controlled the ball down to feet, and then played a good pass to a team-mate?

Another thing for comparison, Moore's hold-up play was also much better than any of our strikers' in the Championship, but he was genuinely useless at holding the ball up today. As a general comparison between the level of the two players, Moore's headers provided a clear goal threat but the rest of his game was poor, while Seferovic's all-round game looked a level above Moore's except for not getting his shots on target.

I think that is the bare minimum a striker should do. Moore won some headers and had decent hold up play as well yet you say he played badly apart from the goal. I didn't see that Seferovic did that much anyway. I thought he lost possesion many times.

Having had a search there are some people laying in to him for missing that chance, which as has been pointed out is harsh. The rest of his game has been good.

Clearly he has a reputation that is hard to shake based on performances earlier in his career.

It's like with Werner but not nearly as bad as Werner, who can play well but then get trolled mercilessly for missing a sitter - though Seferovic didn't miss a sitter because it really was a crap pass to him.
