Not just you. I noticed it on Friday and had to double check the match was being played in Italy.

It’s probably got something to do with the order the matches were pulled out the hat or sonething. You know how officious UEFA are!

Awful scenes earlier. Really pleased that it seems as though Eriksen is ok.

    Info from Opta...

Finland are the first team to win a game in a major tournament (EURO + World Cup) with only one shot fired since Opta analyses this data (1980).

    Extraordinary.

Brilliant that Eriksen condition has improved. My family including kids were in tears at that footage. So harrowing to see a young man in peril like that. Wish the TV had been more respectful.

BBC did themselves not favours with their apology on air - saying sorry to those ‘affected’…everyone was bloody affected! Then suggesting they had no control over footage as it’s centralised by UEFA and pulled the footage as soon as the game was suspended.

Yet media outlets across Europe have been proven to have gone to different footage straight away.

I guess, playing devils advocate, the world may never have then seen first hand the heroic efforts of the Danish team and medics and they may not have got the deserved plaudits they are getting. But the payoff of watching a young man dying on pitch to get those images was simply nowhere near worth that.

I’m not a BBC basher to the extent some people in this country are. But they got this badly wrong and should have just fronted up and admitted as much.

Danish coach has said UEFA have them two options - finish tonight or tomorrow at midday.

So not quite ‘at the request of the players’ as they suggested.

Should have just offered both teams a point, access to counsellors and let them both move on to their next fixture.

Is that why Italy were wearing away shirts?

Belgium will be strong with Lukaku up front and key players to return.

To be fair, Turkey and Russia have also looked like cannon fodder too. Both Belgium and Italy have ageing, iffy defenders which I think exciting attacking teams could expose.

TV channels apologise for every swear word heard on live matches. They don't show streakers yet some berk in a high position decided to stay watching it unfold rather than cut to studio. By the time they did eventually cut to studio it's fair to say the pundits were fearing the worst and that was even worse. Awful decision making wasn't it.

30 then 2 but with covid regulations now you aren't supposed to do the two unless you have a resuscitation mouth protector on you. Of course you'd have to be a bit of a twonk to not do the 2 breaths though if duty called.

I thought that was a joke when mentioned above, are there genuinely Covid regulations when it comes to actually resuscitating people?

    That is beyond bonkers.

I wish I was. You are trained to check for breathing by looking at the chest movements as apposed to listening for breathing close up. I passed my first aid on Wednesday so it's fresh in the memory!

I wasn't angry with the BBC as others although I understand the criticism as everyone takes things in different ways. But it was real news and real life and the behavior all round was impeccable (very moving in itself) and a reminder to everyone of the sort of good behavior in terrible circumstances that is normally evident (in real life). That was instead of how media normally portrays such upset and grief like in Casualty, other soaps and films that invariably shows relatives arguing and shouting at the emergency staff, often acting violently or pushing their way through, etc. which I feel actually encourages "real life" bad behavior and assaults on emergency staff .

We always have the "off" button. Personally, I stopped watching for a while and went and sat in the garden. I'm quite capable, as are most of us, of taking responsibility for ourselves.

But I'm not looking to argue the matter, just explaining my own thoughts.

I wasn’t watching live, but from people’s reactions clearly the footage lingered too long. This isn’t a new phenomena though. I remember the riot at Heysel being covered for long periods as well as the Bradford fire.

In the first instance I’d imagine producers can’t always be immediately sure what’s going on (although they were very used to covering fighting in the 70s and 80s) and once something has started, to the extent coverage would have to cease, cutting away won’t relieve viewer distress (the viewers are left imagining the worst).

It would have been more respectful to Eriksen to cut earlier though there are clearly some positives to emerge from it.

It’s not true that every swear word is apologised for. TV companies regularly get complaints about sectarian chanting at Rangers v Celtic games. The response nearly always amounts to ‘there was game, there was chanting and we covered the game where there was chanting’.

By showing what was going on, we were all able to witness how everyone inside the stadium were in it together. Life is bigger than football after all. But these events showed that football certainly have a power to unite. The silence when it all happened, was more loud than the exitement of winnig at Wembley etc. We were also witnessing some professional livesaving routines and it may well get more people to take part in those kind of learning courses. And next time, when we hear the negative side of football relating issues, we can allways remember this experience as the one that unites us all.

Over here in Finland they started to show highlights of earlier games as soon as the commentators ran out of words. They were all upset. Three points to Finland; fair enough, but one saved life for us all! That is all that mattered. And it showed with all the player interviews after the game.

Yes they're both better than what we have presently. Firstly nobody knows the value of these players and without this one fact I can't honestly give an opinion on players who I believe would be better suited, or how much the club are willing to spend on a striker! Then we still don't know if we can shift any of the deadwood we have upfront. Rumours are they are actively trying to move atleast some. Perica, Gray, Success and Penaranda being mentioned by Leventhal.
But as @Burnsy said I would be happy if they went big on the left side with A Danjuma or the vastly cheaper option of Hauge. On that note I reckon a Batshuayi or even a massive gamble on Dike could happen. I still believe you could get Batshuayi on loan with a permanent move next Summer or Dike with an option. Yes Dike had his ups and downs last season but gives you an option to go longer and use his physique to hold the ball up which he has shown. Has goals in him. He's got what I'd look at in a younger option. Batshuayi I can't understand why he never got more minutes for Palace maybe his attitude is bad but has proved that he can score regularly when given opportunities to play. I reckon he just needs to be the main man and that would give him the confidence to succeed. He definitely showed this at Dortmund.
Yes my two options are going to cost more than your choices but I believe Batshuayi guarantees goals next season and Dike gives you the same as what Moore would give at a much younger age. A wildcard that may or may not payoff.
But my options as yours do all depends on movement of the dross we already have up top.

In the lists of possible striker targets I've made on here lately, I typically put Moore and Dike on basically a par in terms of their current quality. Moore isn't any more "my choice" than Dike, but obviously Dike wasn't playing yesterday.

However, it is maybe worth keeping in mind that Moore was still better yesterday vs Switzerland than Dike was vs Swansea lately - yet you immediately said that you didn't think Moore was at a level you'd want... Both were pretty useless in general play, but at least Moore managed two good headers. It's true that Dike may well still be more attractive to the Pozzos for having some resale value, even if he'd cost more initially. Plus Dike also has time to improve, but his rate of improvement might not be quick enough to help keep us up next season.

As for Batshuayi, yes he could be worth a punt and has in the past shown more quality than most of the other possible options mentioned, but yeah it's difficult to know how good he actually is right now and why he didn't get games at Palace.

He's only played about 11 games' worth of league football in the last 2 seasons. Chelsea supposedly want £15mil for him, plus his wages will be high. I'd prefer him to Moore and Dike certainly, and think his pace and greater poaching instinct will probably suit what we'll need next season more than them, but the cost may also put him out of reach and it's also still not a sure thing that he'd be a hit.

Glad Erikson appears to be on the mend. Wonder if that will mean his career is effectively over? It was poor form for TV cameras to not cut the broadcast earlier.

Croatia are an aging side. Rakitic has retired. I
Predict an England win and in approximately 3 hours everyone will be overexcited and the delusion will start.

True but it's you who put Moore and Dike on par. There is a lot more growth in potential for Dike. Moore did win a couple of headers but I want more from his all round play but it was just one game.

Wins a win. Kept Croatia at arms length all game. They weren’t great, neither were we but we got the goal that I never thought they were going to get. Very comfortable 1-0.

For those that complaining about the TV coverage showing what was going on yesterday, I presume you all carried on watching and didn't turn it off? It was upsetting to see but watching how the players came together was sight in itself. Fair play to the medical staff and the quick reactions as it seems to have saved his life.
As for today, always good to get a win first up. Probably only need a draw to go through from the last two games. Thought Phillips was excellent

Yes, to be fair it's a different scenario together out of hospital (where there's PPE and you can predict who's going to arrest, plus in a young athletic person the arrest rhythm is more than likely to respond to a defibrillator shock and therefore associated with a greater survival). Anyway, full credit to the players and medical staff and let's hope he remains well. Wonder whether he'll hang up his boots now - difficult age as he'd still have a few years left at the top.
