Even a win vs Norwich would have been a bit too little too late tbh.

We ****ed up our season from the beginning and have continued to **** it up ever since.

More delusional ravings about 'aliases' eh? It's never you, is it? Never any responsibility for you and what you say - it must be another ludicrous conspiracy you've dreamed up, instead - of course!

I actually feel sorry for you. It must be exhausting remembering to switch profiles all the time. You’ve been rumbled.

It’s a game. Unlike Russia vs Ukraine. We’ll survive, just not in this **** league.

Is this the latest version of, well at least Bassini isn’t in charge!

Yes but I just don't get it... Its not like our troubles are a recent thing, we've had 3 seasons of mostly dross, and our complaints month on month just remain the same, not matter who leaves the club or who comes in.? Someone else said a while ago, its like there's something intrinsically rotten at our core and our players seem mainly gutless, physically and mentally.
Sissoko has come out and said they wanted to play as in the Villa game and they need to bring that to the ManU game.... Sorry this is BS, if you are fully fit and a seasoned pro then you go out and at least give your all every game.

As people say it must be a mixture of a few lacking fitness, a few just think they're good enough to just go thru the motions and do some flash stuff here and there, and some just have zero confidence on the ball.
So much for the new DoF - he sounded good when he took over but hes been badly found out and very quickly..!!

It’s a bit of a stab in the dark, but supposing we stop the rot (seven consecutive home defeats) with a win or even draw against Arsenal, would that have any impact on our hopes whatsoever? It’s clear our home form is a major reason why we’re in the relegation zone, though our away form isn’t particularly good either. Or would we just revert to dropping points galore at home and/or our away form deteriorate (quite likely, given the tough away games to come)?

Not totally implausible but given how things have gone for Sunderland, Wigan, Reading etc there are worse fates than being a Championship side that finishes upper mid-table each season. I would also imagine that many if not most on here would prefer that fate if we had a young side and a clear style of play and felt like we were progressing to a long-term goal rather than thrashing about as we have been.

I think given the gulf between the Championship and the PL is wider than ever, a club has to be very poorly run to not make the playoffs these days following relegation. This summer is critical.

As you know I am more positive/optimistic about things than many on here but I agree that this line is pretty asinine. We had it a lot with covid amidst our last relegation “really putting things into perspective” etc. Something we heard often from the FTRE crowd.

You have to wonder how some people with that outlook maintain personal relationships. When their kid is crying with a broken leg do they remind them (seriously) that at least they have legs? I don’t really see how my sympathy for the Ukrainian people is obviated/undermined by frustration with the Pozzo hierarchy.

I think the fundamental thing is that, to counter the almost unbelievably bad way the season has gone to date, what we would have required to have a reasonable chance of surviving is to find a way to elevate us way above not just the level we have been playing at/are at for the majority of the season, but also above average run-of-the-mill lower mid table form across an unspectacular season - we would have to have kicked off a run in which we played at close enough to Champions League qualifying level for most of the rest of the season (something people have indeed discussed and forecast on here before).

Now, 'stopping the rot' just wouldn't be anywhere near good enough, and there are literally no signs that we are even going to experience any kind of prolonged upturn in form, let alone one spectacular enough to outperform our failures to date. Last night was really just a Hail Mary opportunity to suddenly signal that we could be capable of the fight - what it signalled, in the end, is that we clearly aren't, let alone capable of reaching the kind of level required.

Meanwhile, of course, teams around us are starting to turn it around and pick up points and even wins, often against teams we laboured and/or embarrassed ourselves against in turn.

Honestly, any attempt to really separate it into 'home form' and 'away form' is desperately grasping at the thinnest and shortest of straws at this point - we are a dreadful team with no coherence, no consistency, and no spark or fight, regardless of where we are playing.

We started as favourites to finish second bottom with the bookies ....and today we are favourites to finish second bottom with the bookies. It has always been our destiny :).

You're right, of course. This season, and indeed our whole club's existence is futile.

Accept the inevitable and get on with it.

Not exactly what I said....I just meant it's no great shock that we've achieved pretty much what was expected by the outside world.

Ah ok. I thought you’d said that this season and indeed our clubs whole existence are futile and we should just accept the inevitable. My bad :)

All I did was paraphrase you. You're making a point that we have lived up to expectations, as if that justifies our miserable showing.

If you have no expectations beyond losing 7 home games in a row, then what is the point of even turning up?

  19. The undeniable truth

The undeniable truth First Team Captain

Yes, I didn't say that "This season, and indeed our whole club's existence is futile." and we should "accept the inevitable", just saying it's no great surprise we are where we are given it's tough to stay up and the odds reflected that.
I'm not going at the moment, I doubt I will go again this season. It's miserable and pointless (literally).

Just looking at the next 6 games and it’s an insanely massive ask given how turd we have been this season but if we win 4 from 6 (Leeds, Brentford, Burnley and Palace) we would be on 34 points from 35 games and would be i reckon favoured to stay up. Yellows!!!!

Yep. Just the 4 wins from 6 gets us right back in it. Then maybe a couple more wins to stay ahead. So just 6 wins from 9 and we are safe. It’s that easy.
