Our corners as always were dreadful. And even then he scored a couple. Our set pieces have been hopeless for about 6 seasons.

I remember one of the games we drew with Sheffield United (I think it was one of the QSF games where it dawned on us just how much he had neutered us by making all 11 players defenders 100% of the time) in which Dawson missed a point blank header under no real competition from about 6 yards that would have almost certainly won us the game and kept us up. Just like all the other insane individual mistakes and failures that if singularly removed would have kept us up. Good times.

Our set pieces were dreadful, as was our defensive cover. He's good as part of a compact unit not with fast strikers running into space at him. He's been pretty solid all his career other than his one season with us.

That being said, West Brom fans were not sad to lose him, and tended to warn us that he was at a point that he couldn't really be bothered (having just been relegated with them that previous season, of course). Think he works in the right setup under the right kind of coach and when he feels he can be bothered for whatever reason, rather than it just being plainly our fault; rare as it is for me to excuse anything we're up to.

Welbeck miss in that game was much worse, through on goal and could have rolled it across to Gray for an empty net even he wouldn't have missed

    So if !!
We win again Leeds, Norwich win against Burnley and Everton lose this weekend.
It will be very close at the bottom with several games still to play.

The fact it was Gray coming up in support is the reason he didn't square it!

Based on today's game even I have to admit we have very little hope.

Hodgson's Fulham stayed up after picking up only 24 points from 32 games, so if we beat Brentford and Everton maintain their current PPG there is some chance - Fulham stayed up with 36 points and Everton are on course to get 35. BUT it's likely it will go down to goal difference so we would need 36, which requires either 5 wins or 4 wins and 2 draws from the remaining 7 games. No way are we going to get five wins from even the easier fixtures after losing 3-0 at home to Leeds when we've got to play Leicester at home, Palace away and a resurgent Eriksen-inspired Brentford who just beat Chelsea 4-1 on their own patch. And despite that result there's next to no chance we'll get anything at Chelsea never mind Man City.

All there is to look forward to for the rest of the season is the football elsewhere, like the League 2 relegation battle and whether Forest can achieve the miracle of pipping Muff to automatic promotion and ending their 23-year absence from the top flight.

    Plan for survival

Defenders : Stop passing to the other team
Strikers : Start shooting at the goal (I don't care how many step overs you can do )
This is neither rocket science or brain surgery

I wouldn’t waste your energy thinking about it. Our players are cowards, and our ownership is incompetent with a rotten festering culture from top to bottom. There has never been a more likely collective candidate for relegation. Number of games left isn’t really relevant,

I have to admit I'm getting the same kind of feeling as I did towards the end of the 2006/07 season in that there are better ways of spending my time on a weekend afternoon. The only game I attended after Everton at home that season was Reading away, and that was mainly to tick off an away ground (I did watch Man Utd on the TV of course because you never know what could have happened).

At least I'll get more nice walking done...

It’s done and dusted now. No hope left whatsoever. Glad it’s over so we can move on and look forward to actually winning the odd game in the championship. Anything must be better than this.

Ok but what about 4 at home? Nice round number. Then win at CP and Chelsea, job done. The Citeh game is then a free hit.

But if we continue our home form we are all but down :(

I have moved from "its not over until mathematically decided" to we have no chance.

We are down, but the odd thing is we’ve got a better chance of getting points against City and Chelsea than we do against the likes of Everton and Burnley. We lose for fun against the weak teams and often by embarrassing margins, but Liverpool at home aside, the results have actually been closer against good teams. We obviously won’t get results against the good teams either, it just might be closer.

Let me add one to that.

Goal Keeper : Stop being a laughing clown in games and put some effort in. There were some rumors he got a bit of stick for their second goal and just half smiled about it. Club used to mean something to him, not anymore.

You know what, I think we might be alright because Kabasele says we're going to try and win the next game. He can guarantee that the team won't drop either, not like when we capitulated against Leicester x 2, Chelsea, Brentford, West Ham, Norwich, Palace, Wolves and Leeds.

What like he "dropped" to the floor against Muff and allowed them to equalize? Sorry Kabs, I applaud your cry for support but didn't that same type of rallying cry come earlier in the season. then we got battered with a spineless display? Nobody is buying it anymore. Leave your talking on the pitch - show don't tell.

It's interesting to note we could "potentially" get ourselves into exactly the same position going into the final game of the season as we did the last time we were relegated.

Win the next four, and take each game individually, that could still be achieved, we'd be on 34 points with an away game at a top six London club as our final fixture, just like last time. The parallels between this season and two years ago are very similar with regards to the managers, so it would be just bonkers to think we could go into the final game with something to play for.

If we win the next 4, that would mean we've taken a match away from Burnley and Everton. Burnley would have 31 points from 34 games, meaning they would have to win 2 and draw 1 of their next three to put them beyond us mathematically going into the final game. For Everton, they'd have to win 3 from 4 games to be beyond us mathematically before the final game. Leeds would need to win 1 and draw 2 of their next 4 games to be unreachable by the time we play the final match.

So, it's highly likely, if we win the next 4, we could miraculously have something to play for going into the final game at Chelsea.

Alternatively, if we lose to Burnley and Leeds win, then we're down mathematically, unless there's a 20+ goal swing between us and Burnley.
