What's the latest on this guy, is he staying on loan at Granada, or starting the season with us?

Haven't even decided if we are going to get a work permit for him according to the WO.

Will consider options after looking at the other attacking players.

Has no intention of coming to England this season according to his agent and wants to go to either Barca or Madrid. This year's Holebas?

How the hell is this agent goon offering Peneranda to Villareal and other teams? Didn't he just negotiate a 5 year deal with us? With our TV deal we could just burn 9 million and stick him in the U21s till he is 24. Obviously this is far fetched but surely the agent doesn't have much power here having signed a long term deal so recently?

The idea of him being the '4th man to Messi, Neymar and Suarez' is absolutely hilarious, truly comical.

Bearing in mind none of the other Barca players really manage it, and barely a day goes by without another top class forward from a huge team being linked to Barca, sparking debate centred around a belief that they would not make it into the starting lineup and would have to be a sub (the fabled '4th man') with plenty of doubts expressed that they are even capable of that.

Always been something 'unlikely' about this deal. Signed an hour before deadline day in January under entirely different manager and coaching team, stays put in Spain, has never been seen at the ground or training complex in 8 months, visa problems.

I have never really counted on him being part of the team. Think its all a bit of contract shuffling to keep him in the Pozzo fold when Granada was at risk of relegation or when they had already planned to sell at the end of the season. Suspect he'll be 'loaned out' and sold without stepping foot in England.

Unfortunately Agents have most of the power nowadays, particularly where their clients are unable to think for themselves e.g Vydra.

What would be the point of keeping a player who wanted to be elsewhere and therefore might cause unrest in the squad. Rather than cut off your nose to spite your face the sensible thing would be to make money out of the situation.

    Hopefully this is all bull****.

I understand that pragmatism is often worth it when contracts are running down, but I've never seen a situation where someone signs a 5 year contract and 5 months later the agent is unilaterally touting him round clubs for a loan deal. My anger assumes a world permit is possible of course, but if the agent wants to move him elsewhere then the bell end shouldn't have got his client to sign our long term contract.

We bought him. He signed a contract with us. End of.

Loan him out to a mid table La Liga team for a year and reassess next summer. Our immediate need for him has reduced with Deeney and Ighalo apparently both staying.

How do we know that the agents aren't just carrying out their clients' instructions? How do you know whether Vydra is capable of making his own decisions or not?

  21. Just a thought, but is it possible this is about getting him another year in Spain for his work permit? Granada are one of the teams mentioned, so I reckon this could be confusion coming from something we may already know about, albeit with other clubs being considered.

Maybe loan him to Barca for a year with the proviso that they get first dibs on him when we do sell? Every one wins...

The Pozzos have dealt with agents and situations of this sort before. I suspect that the agent is whispering in the player's ear - but more importantly has his own hand out. Remember, agents make money each time the player moves, they are not paid a percentage of the play's wages (as is the custom in America for example). The agent probably feels that given Penaradna's increased profile from La Liga and the Copa America that he's more sought after. There are many ways that this might get solved. Not the least of which is some sort of financial accommodation with the agent directly.

I really feel that the system is broken. Agents should be paid to drive up the players' wages, not to move them around. I would like higher wage bills, but it's a more honest approach.

The bottom line is that I trust the Pozzos to sort it out. This isn't the salad brothers or Bas... the Pozzos know the business.

Penaranda might want to get his Spanish passport to set him in a good position for the rest of his career, and I can't blame him for that. The original transfer story said he'd remain on loan at Granada next year; perhaps he's irritated that this has been reneged on.

If I was in his position, I'd certainly want to see out my Spanish passport before leaving the country. At his age it would be silly not to.

  25. I suspect its completely innocent, we have enough forwards now we are keeping Deeny and Iggy, and Penny fella is better off going on loan for game time
