I quite enjoyed how the championship thread became a pseudo shoutbox for when our rivals were playing, so thought one for the Euros would be good also.

I’m actually looking forward to this staring now minus the England games. Tonight should be a good match, Turkey actually have an excellent team on paper and Italy unbeaten in 26 matches.

Good idea. Thanks for creating the thread.

Yes me too. Very interested to see how Italy do, as I think they’re one of the genuinely potential winners of the tournament. But it’s a tricky opener for them tonight, especially as traditionally they’re slow starters anyway.

Amazing they’ve not been European Champions since 1968!

I’ve always liked Italy, had a chat with the Neapolitan fella who works a couple of doors down this morning. Got a very stern warning that I should be supporting them tonight and I will. Impressed him with a bit of 90’s football Italia knowledge too

Be interested to see how Immobile starts the tournament tonight, I can see him giving Soyuncu the runaround.

Good friends in Milan, so will be shouting for

Have to admit to exceptionally lukewarm feelings towards England, (until we win a game, obviously I’ll get me car flags out then )

My feelings towards England have warmed considerably since Southgate's letter; anything that pisses off the gammon is good with me. That said I will be cheering on Ken's Sweden and Dan's Austria.

    Here's an idea .
How about we post just about the football and leave out any political\social digs ?.

Not a clue who will win . Hope it's England, put had a punt on Jota @33s for top marksman .

Please Gareth , can we not have 3 CB's 2 full backs and 2 holders ?. Pretty please !

I fancy France to do well and might have a punt on Mbappe as top scorer. Still have a feeling Portugal could go all the way.

I just have a feeling that he will score goals especially playing with Benzema who is the most unselfish forward I've ever seen. Portugal have a good team ethic and some really good individuals. A tough group though.

Italy played well - looked impressive.

    Turkey rather defensive.

Almost as if they were hoping to nick a point and then rely on winning their other games.

Italy or Portugal to win Euro imo. Maybe France because of the sheer quality of their squad.

Can’t believe Chiellini is still going strong, mind you he did look about 40 10 years ago.

    Very true!
I am worn out by England and will support Italy in a 'happy to follow, it doesn't rip your heart out the way that '90 and '96 did' .
I also have my Tricolore flying but that's just as much to annoy my Spuds supporting, wash his car every day next door but one neighbour, who has put up his flag of St George.
I also love 'Fratelli d'Italia' and have been singing it since yesterday.
I am taking my Greek flag to work today in support of Tsitsipas too.

Has the potential to be an excellent tournament. Italy looked good. France and Portugal are faves. Can never write off Ze Germans. Spain and Belgium still have some excellent players and the Dutch are resurgent.

We definitely won’t win it that’s for sure. We’ve got some very good players, but nothing that is any better than about 5/6 teams. Our downfall is our manager who is several rungs below the standard he should be. Italy as an example have someone like Mancini who has won major domestic leagues as a manager.

Why won't we "definitely" not win it?. Anyone can say that . You are punting against England but have France , Spain , Germany , Portugal etc in your locker.
For any credibility tell us who "definitely " will win it .

No faith in the manager and dislike of the players seems to be the issue.

Of course we can do well but do fear a last 16 clash with Portugal or France .

Here’s a question: what’s the record for most Watford players at a major tournament?

The two we have this time seems low, but I feel for most of the time I have supported Watford it has usually been zero.

    Probably is 2.

I mean we had Gerry Armstrong in 1982
John Barnes for England in 1986

Does Pierre Issa in 2002 count?

I love it when defenders celebrate a good tackle. Chiellini over the moon to keep a clean sheet, proper defender.
