WTF! If you really think I've criticised supporting the 1881 then you should've gone to Specsavers!

No, I just think your inane crass comment about supporting UKIP when Norway said he had lost a child was uncalled for.

Nothing to do with your support of 1881 and my eyesight is fine thanks.

I have to say I'm also starting to get a really bad taste in my mouth about what Roy's up to setting up and running the 1881. It's clearly just a thinly veiled cover for him to attract 'likes' on this forum. Obviously money is no object to this man and you lot just lap it up :dismay:

Erm excuse me but he's not talking about recently and we all have our tales of woe. Apart from that my comment was totally besides that point.

You need far more than Specsavers, get yourself a fcking brain.

I've chosen to use my money to have my seat in the rookery gold plated rather than give to charity, hope this isn't a problem.

Appreciate all this concern for my welfare but happy with mine and it wouldn't change my opinion of your UKIP comment.

Last time I looked they weren't a charity and it has stuff all to do with the thread topic.

Slightly off topic but am I the only one who thinks the 16 'dislikes' of the OP are a touch harsh? I personally only use the 'dislike' button - on very, very rare occasions - if I think a post is particularly rude or cruel. If you disagree with a post, why not state why - as many in this case have done, very eloquently - instead of lazily pressing 'dislike'? And if you do post a well argued response, why the need to dislike? (Hollywood?). Especially when it's a new poster. 'Dislike', to me, is very different to 'disagree'. Am I alone in thinking this? Or being over sensitive on behalf of others? Maybe it's because I is female *sigh*

(PS I don't agree with your OP, John, but hello and welcome and fair play to you for responding to opposing views graciously)

At what number of dislikes does a post go to the authorities for review?

Sixteen is ridiculous I agree. I'm fairly ambivalent about the OP, neither really agree nor disagree with it but it's a valid opinion to have and certainly not worthy of the wave of people cowardly hiding behind a Dislike without giving an alternate opinion.

Last time I looked the 1881 weren't a charity either and the OP has little to do with the thread title.

Are you a Ukipper btw? ... it's just that I found this bit of brain and I wondered if it's yours?

OP JR: "I'm struggling to see who would choose to donate for some flags to be bought instead of donating some money to something more important like charities for the homeless or cancer research." That is his point.

I enjoy many of your posts normally and my original comment was that your reference about UKIP to Norway was, in my opinion 'uncalled for'.

I don't resort to attacking the poster as I am not questioning your intelligence, or your eyesight, or whether you have a brain, as I'm sure all are working OK.

I gave my opinion of the OP as JR has a point, and I'm sorry if you have seen this as an attack on you, as it clearly is not.

But to widen the argument to talk about donating to UKIP in the context that you responded to Norway is a big departure from the OP's argument, and can lead to arguments about donating to things like, for example, ISIS and other nefarious organisations.

The trouble with that line of thinking is, as has been pointed out by others on this thread, is that it ultimately gets nowhere, and you end up arguing and going round in circles and could end up with your head up your own ******** and as someone on here (not me) said, it can basically make you go mad.

    1881 singing section

Really poor at the minute, today was probably the worst this season even when 0-0..

I think that a change of strategy may be in order, perhaps moving to the back of the stand, preferably in the middle but the back of where you currently are if needs be.

I'm sure i'll get a load of abuse but what's the point of a singing section that doesn't sing?

Roy Moore even agrees by his Facebook comments today. He says that groups of people that sit with the group but don't sing. But I don't really understand how that can happen as surely all of the 1881 are season ticket holders and arranged this with the 1881 directly?

I don't understand though because at the away games, especially at Arsenal, we are very loud. Do those people just not turn up to the home games?

The 1881 don't vet applications or control ticketing in their block. It's just advertised as a singing section and anyone can buy a ticket there.

It will be the same at Wembley sadly. People want to join the singing section for the atmosphere but don't add to it and join in. The idiots just don't get that if they don't join in there is no atmosphere.

I don't mean this thread to be having a go at Roy Moore in anyway, its the opposite as I am really happy we have the 1881 section and our away support is superb.

It just seems the atmosphere at home is going downhill.

If anyone involved in the 1881 is reading, is it possible to move the section? As I think that would help massively.

  22. Robert Peel

I'd move the 1881 to the Elton John stand nearest the away fans.

You'd get a lot more noise and interaction between the 2 sets of fans (I don't mean throwing seats).

Only drawback would be the impact on doing tifo displays in the Rookery.

  23. Arakel

Very likely a case of too many people wanting to be near the noise but not contribute to it. Sadly, the hangers-on have to be weeded out or they slowly destroy things.

The euphoria of last season is over. Watford FC fans have always been louder when we're the underdog. The success of the first half of the season means we are no longer the underdog; the average fan has become complacent and the expectation is higher.

The fans that want to be loud are too spread out. I sit in row PP, behind the goal and no one in front of me seems to want to stand for extended periods. I also can't see anyone singing much (albeit I can't see their faces) apart from one chap who stands up a lot and sings. But these are the hardcore fans behind the goal who are surely meant to make the noise? No, they just sit there with the flasks and blankets.

With the greatest respect to the 1881 it must be difficult to get motivated when the team are having a shocker and nobody else is joining in around them.

  29. Timbers

Indeed, the thing is, they started singing in the last 10 minutes and then the team picked up, it works both ways.

I thought the Stoke fans were the loudest we have had this season, they were excellent.

Well yeah.... but wasn't that obvious? There's a chunk of away fans that you'll never see at home games.

Very surprised you think the 1881 are to blame for the atmosphere. There's a group who generally lead and make some noise almost constantly in their corner of the Rookey. That's about 1,000 people - but what about the other 5k in the stand?

Doesn't matter where you sit you can contribute towards the noise. The reasons why it's been quiet of late is:

    A) we've played terribly of late
    B) nobody is ever tanked up like away days. Put some more staff on and that'll increase beer sales and that'll increase atmosphere.

  32. Jumbolina

The team have been awful for the last 3 or 4 home games. I really don't see how having a go at the singing section of our fanbase achieves anything during this period.

  33. HappyHornet24

    HappyHornet24 Crapster Staff Member

It's definitely (a) rather than (b). Not saying the crowd are right but it's no coincidence that as the perceived entertainment value of the matches has deteriorated, so has the atmosphere. There are many reasons you always tend to get a "louder" group at away matches but I don't think being "tanked up" is the main one. Plus, am I right in thinking away fans aren't served alcohol at the Vic? Didn't seem to make much difference to the volume of the Stoke fans.

  34. GoingDown

    GoingDown "The Stability"

Roy Moore has also criticised the 1881 and he started the bloody thing, so there must be some justification in the stance that they've tailed off this season, much like our form.

I'll stand by what I said earlier in the season, if we don't attack the Rookery second half, the place is like a morgue.
