    I need help...

Having set out to see a match at every 1881 club in the world - articles on which can be found in our matchday programmes - I've recently found another four.
The list so far includes those founded in 1881, the national cup winners, and a couple of fan teams.
Its sort of like collecting football stickers and being desperate to finish the set without knowing for certain what the set is.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any 1881 teams I might have missed.

Those I've already visited are recorded here: putajumperon

    Thanks in advance,
    Ashley

I can't help you with your question but as a bit of a part-time hopper myself I really enjoy your articles.

    Thanks.
There's a couple more already in the bag, and constant planning to fit in the rest before start of next season which - with the four new ones - is unlikely but I've got a fantastic three 1881 game weekend in Germany for mid-April. Would be fair to say I'm excited.

What do you do after you have collected them all?

Once completed I'll be on to another random topic to base some groundhopping around.
Due to abominable mkd I've given up on ever finishing the 92 so looking further afield... and there's some truly wonderful clubs out there.
The list I've got my eye on these so far are here: hop picking

I take you excluded AFC Wimbledon as well then?

Only if they are the true Wimbledon fc they have a pretty dark past when it comes to re-location ethics and destroying football clubs.
Delve into their history and you will find they were the original 'abominable' football club.

Both should be left to rot. Milton Keynes as a town is currently winning this race.

Try match.com, join some local clubs and societies and maybe ask your friends if they can set you up.

    You CAN find a girlfriend.

Is WFC even an 1881 team? Wasn't the centenary in 1992, only for history to be revised for our last Premiership year to make us 125?

"1881 - The club is formed, as Watford Rovers." - From the club website: WatfordFC

This is the only reason I'm going to all the 1881 clubs.

You are welcome to feel how you want about either mkd or Wimbledon, it will not influence my choice.
For numerous reasons, I will always sit on the side of Wimbledon in this debate.

No one is tryng to influence your choice.. but are you sure you know all the facts? (very few people do)

Like for instance did you know Wimbledon fc wanted out of the area of their roots as early as the 1970's? Did you you they touted themselves around the entire Uk to escape their traditional fanbase? and did you know they destroyed the only viable non league side in the Milton keynes area?

If people just opened their eyes to what actualy happened with Wimbledon fc, they certainly wouldnt just blame the people up in Buckinghamshire.

    Milton keynes City fc..

They were bought by Wimbledon chairman Ron Noades in 1979. He then appointed Wimbledon's directors (including Sam Hamman) as directors of MK City and began talks with the Milton keynes development Corporation in view to using MK City to move Wimbledon fc to Milton keynes. When he realsied that he had little support for the idea he dropped it and moved on. Mk City never recovered from this upheaval and folded just a few years after Noades had sold them.
At the time Noades bought them MK City were the highest placed non league side in the MK area by a long way.

So when i hear people suggesting Milton keynes should have developted their own team.. then my answer to them is that they tried.. but Wimbledon killed them!

PS Dont get me wrong.. i dont blame any of this on the supporters of the original Wimbledon club. Its just political wranglings of club owners and as usual the followers of the clubs involved have little say in the matter. But also think its only fair people should know the whole truth of how this sorry story took shape.

This has nothing to do with the people of Bucks (of which I was born one) or the Wimbledon fans and residents (of which I was one for a decade over the franchised move) but, has everything to do with the lack of support from Merton Borough Council, the apathy of the FA/League to helping smaller clubs, and the opportunistic nature of Mr Winkelman (who showed no concern for the history or fans of the club, and demonstrated little respect for the pyramid system).

If Mr Winkelman had any interest in developing a football team in MK he had viable options lower down the pyramid but, like many in today's society demonstrated no interest in actually working for success. Because of his actions (and the appalling "no viable future..." statement) I will never put a single penny in mkd's till, nor will I ever attend a game they are playing in (even if its against Watford). I will however happily go and support New Bradwell St Peter FC in the north of MK.

You are free to take a different stance and enjoy it but on this point I will not be swayed.

Well i certainly dont 'enjoy it' (i liken it to swimming against against a shark infested tidal wave!)

....and anyway i dont really take a different stance. What you have written here is pretty much my thoughts on the matter but unfortunately the vast majority of people arent able to see it that way and blame the wrong people in this saga.
Ive seen it with my own eyes having lived in MK when the move took place & reading subsequent opinions on the matter. I will always try to give a full account of what really happenned and i will defend the people of Bucks (and the Wimbledon folk.. not the club cause they are to blame as well) whenever i can.

On that i will not be swayed!

PS Sorry for nicking your thread.

Have to say the guys down under have been very helpful in helping 1881 hit the ground running, should we consider forming an informal linkage with these guys?

Don't know what format it would be in, maybe sharing ideas and the such, but they have helped us, if we find things that work well here, they may want to experiment in Oz land...

After seeing them sing im already a fan and have adopted WSW as my team for Australia and i think that we as a group could learn a lot from these guys an the Portlland Timbers.

You like the Timbers as well? Glad to see I ain't the only one. They have the best fans when it comes to the teams in Cascadia with their tifos etc etc.

Count me as as a fan too, Timbers are full on just like RBB.

Ironic that English supporters are taking a lead from the US & OZ (who in turn were inspired by EU/SA)...

Nope. 'Kick off' for the wheelchair matches are 2pm on Saturdays. I have my own kick off at 3pm.

In Australia we have this off system that the national league/A-league is played over the Australian summer (inline when the European leagues are played in your winter) but the semi-professional and amateur leagues are played over our winter (your summer)
