Sannino's reign as Watford's head coach in serious doubt [Wobby]

I had an old boss who would be described as a corporate psychopath. In general she was excellent at her job as CEO. But her people management skills were rather bi polar. One minute she was the most charming person you could meet the next she would be screaming at you, borderline abusive. After a while you get used to it and you learnt to work with it , till you reach a point where it doesnt bother you and actually becoems a bit of a laugh and a bonding experience for everyone who worked with her.

But in the final analysis, she was good at her job, so we all got on with our jobs that we were being paid for, and it was a very successful period. Every now and then she overstep the mark and HR would have to have a word, but mostly it added a bit of colour to the day.

Im not saying that this sort of behaviour is ideal, its not. But as long as the team carrying on being successful ( which so far this season it is) then the players need to get on with what they are being paid for. Playing for the fans, club and each other.

I don't know whether it's Bepp's fault, prima donna players or both. But I do know that we've got too many players, and that doesn't help togetherness. If Nani can't leanr from Sean Dyche and GT, he should go.

    And whats that Horny ?

You know the money the Pozzos spend, is it their own money or money secured against the club, that's used ?

So we should sack Nani now for getting too many good players!

If we are going to cite corporate bosses in this, my boss before my last boss was a really nice guy. Until such time as my abilities started to exceed his. He felt I was a threat and deliberately hindered both mine and my colleagues progress and development. He then started to go slightly mad, claiming he was best friends with his doctor and more alarmingly, Peter Andre. He told clients this who sat there open mouthed.

My colleague and myself approached the big boss about our issues who said he'd sort it. My boss then said he was leaving for the best part of 4 months. He got signed off with stress and then a mutual termination was agreed.

Since then, I've left for a much better job and my colleague is now a senior manager at the firm. All This happening in the space of about a year.

So for every 'bad manager' that gets the job done, there's another that stops the development of his/her team.

I see, the team played badly at Wembley because they didn't give a stuff about getting to the Prem, earning more money and enhancing their professional reputations. And there was me thinking they were overawed by the occasion, and lost to another poor team because a serial penalty-conceder did what he does.

  8. I disagree, we have a squad of 24 senior players (I think?) which is fine.

So we can rule out the ex-bosses of BigRossLittleRoss & Going Down as potential replacements for Uncle Beppe.

Any others, along with 'Toxic' Malky, we can discount?

It's the job of the press to investigate a report matters of public interest. The Wobby has fallen out with the club before, and will do again. Should it have acted as a cheerleader for Petchey or Bas?

I wouldn't want Gordon Brown. Spending would be out of control. And he'd try and privatise Lloyd Doyley.

To those having a pop at Frank Smith and The Wobby, what do you think they should have done. There has clearly been an issue bubbling away beneath the surface for a while now which I'm sure they knew about but chose not to report. Dyer then celebrates a goal in a way that seems to suggest that all is not well and rumours start flying about that quite a number of players are not happy with Beppe. At that point any journalist will report it and to be fair he has done a decent interview. If Frank had ignored this he would have been out of a job by now.
I don't think Dyer's celebration was the wisest thing he's ever done but if somebody like that reacts in that way then there must be something horribly wrong. I'm sure Nigel Pearson has shouted at players when he was at Leicester but there seems to be more to it than that but like most of us on here, we just don't know and I'm not sure we ever will find out everything but as it stands it doesn't look good for Beppe. If he goes, which looks likely, I will be quite disappointed as I quite like the guy but I only see him on a Saturday afternoon when he shows the kind of passion we want to see from managers and players. What he's like elsewhere I simply don't know but whatever happens, needs to happen very quickly. We have a fantastic squad, who in fairness look very much together judging from the goal celebrations on Tuesday, who should be challenging this year but anything like this can quickly balls this up.
I really hope that what Miked said about deliberately playing badly is not true but if any player actually did this then they should be let go with immediate effect. That is disrespectful to your team mates, the club and more importantly us and is unforgiveable

  19. BigRossLittleRoss

    Sure, I agree.

But football is a results business. In that way it has a very tangible system to measure success.

Taking the Norwich game out of the equation, (as its not fair to assess a team when they have 10 men for the whole game,) we have played 3 games, won all of them without conceding a goal.

If we had drawn at Norwich , a reasonable expectation under normal circumstances, we would be top of the table on goal difference.

Its fair to say , that so far this season Sannino is doing well.

For players to try and dislodge him is going to have seriously negative effect on our season and could cost us promotion. If we re still in the Championship next season we wont have Deeney and Vydra . Most of the better players who we ve been accruing over the past 2 years are likely to be receiving offers from bigger clubs, that they may decide to take, after having given it a go for 2 to 3 years at Watford. That could leave us having to rebuild yet again.

Play off final was a real sliding doors moment for the club. Sacking Sannino could be a another one.

All well and good fans baying for Sanninos dismissal but is the replacement going to be more or less likely to succeed ?

Well I can't find anything else from miked, so I'll ignore his bombshell.

Personally, I think this is all fantastic news. It means we're becoming a proper "big boys" premiershyte club - with the press full of utter bollox stories about how "unhappy" players are, speculation on senior management decisions to replace "unpopular" coaches - all we need now are endless articles from anonymous "...sources close to <insert name here> Pozzo..." full of unsubstantiated malicious rumour and endless pronouncements from Beppe that there's a conspiracy against us. I also hope that the press invent and inflame a media mind-games war between Beppe and A.N.Other manager - hopefully Gollum because Beppe's got experience of working with the mentally ill.

Also this "further dark news to come" Beppe and some players aren't being investigated by operation Yewtree, or perhaps they've joined Voldemort's / the Dark side?

Have a feeling Beppe might have treated them to the old hairdryer plus at half time at Rotheram and a few of the precious little souls didn't like it. If that was the case it obviously worked in the 2nd half.

You might have forgotten but I certainly haven't, the sight of the Watford team strolling around in their tracksuits as if they were about to play a pre-season friendly compared to the ultra serious Palace team in their suits. The difference in attitudes was exactly the same as that between us and Leeds back in the 2006 final only this time we were the arrogant team who thought they only had to turn up to win and then suddenly realized they were in a battle but didn't have the stomach for it.

  29. 'We understand Beppe Sannino's reign as #WatfordFC's head coach is in serious doubt'

To me Frank Smith has all but predicted Beppe will be gone very soon. If that happens then great he can claim a scoop, if Beppe stays he is going to look very foolish.

Either way if Gino thinks FS has been sensationalising a problem the club prefers to handle in private then there may be future relationship issues between the newspaper and the club which isn't in anyone's best interests.

Maybe the wobbly should have stuck to facts and waited to see how this thing plays out.

  30. hornmeister

    hornmeister Tired

True but they do need to balance the relationship with the club with the need to sell papers. Aslo they would look pretty poor if another journalist exposed the issues ahead of them.

Sticking to the facts without conjecture or opinion is the way to go on this one. The club can't penalise them for that, especially if they've been pre-warned or asked for comment first.

But when a paper claims to "understand" it usually means they've got a quote from somewhere to work on. Again, I said earlier that if the paper wasn't reporting this incident then we'd all be questioning why they aren't. It isn't just coming from the paper, there are other sources for this info too. It is easy for the club/Gino to come out and make a statement to put this all to bed.

He is doing well, and I can't deny that, but the completely broken relationship between manager and players isn't going to go away. Good results aren't going to conveniently carry on for a whole season under those circumstances, because it's a totally unmanageable state of affairs.

If you're confident a hated manager can produce a successful season then that's fine, but you're wrong.
