I'm sorry but if he does go I will have lost all respect for Lloyd Dyer.

Such a childish outburst which could have a massive effect on our season.

Obviously Ranegie and Ekstrand have decided they don't want him here anymore.

Players having their way sounds very much like the Sunderland vs Di Canio situation.

Pozzos should get the players to wind their necks in.

Dyer's revenge on the club after the playoff semi-final! I'm sure he won't care and I'm sure plenty of you will think it's stupid but I won't be clapping him at games anytime soon.

Beppe Sannino’s reign as Watford’s head coach is in serious doubt; with the Italian today refusing to state whether he believes he has lost the support of the dressing room.

The Watford Observer reported last night that several first team players are unhappy with the Italian and that it was not only due to a lack of game time.

We understand Sannino’s aggressive manner around the training ground has upset a number of the senior players and they are unhappy with the way he communicates with the squad.

Sannino fielded several difficult questions from the Watford Observer this afternoon and whilst he addressed some issues head on, he twice refused to state whether he believed he still had the players’ backing.

“How many matches have we played?” Sannino initially responded. “We have only played three league matches and think about the situation after three games. I think the players are intelligent and I know that the players know which way we must go."

When Sannino was again asked if he had the support of the players, he replied: "I think we have a team which must reach one target as a club and they are working towards this."

The point that some of the Watford players were unhappy with his style of management was made to Sannino this afternoon.

But was it something he was aware of?

"I think that a coach should not be the gaffer for six or seven players. He has to be the gaffer for all and the players have to be players,” Sannino replied.

"I don't want to be a gaffer that is good for five or six players and not good for the rest of the players. I am Beppe Sannino and I am this coach and I want to always be like that.

"These players [who are unhappy] are not good for my style of management. Tell them and the fans that my office is there and if they are not happy with the situation then they should come to talk to me."

Asked if any of the players had voiced their concerns to him, Sannino added: "I think that my style and my way is to be passionate and maybe when I speak with my team I can shout and my voice is loud.

“I know that some players are surprised by this but this is my style and I have always been like that and I believe I have made two or three steps towards the players.

“But if there are players who think differently then they can speak to me and I will try to find a better solution to help."

A number of the squad who would consider themselves to be first team players have found game time hard to come by this season and Sannino recognised that has been difficult.

One of the most interesting responses from Sannino came when he was asked if he knew his best XI.

He said: “In my head I have the players who are more functional for my football but I am one man, I am one papi, I am one brother and I am one d**khead.

“I help all. I help everybody with my character. I am always ready for all my players and my club. I am Beppe Sannino. I am this character.

"I am like that and me being like that means there is a guarantee to everybody that my decisions will be the best picks for everybody and made with fairness. I will always look at the other players around the club."

Watford’s owners, the Pozzo family, expect the club to challenge for automatic promotion this season after a disappointing campaign last time out, when the Golden Boys capitulated in the final three games to finish in 13th place.

The Pozzos have strengthened the Hornets squad considerably but the downside to that has been that several ‘first team’ players have been left out of the squad on each match-day.

Two of the players who have yet to figure in the Championship this season have been fans’ favourites Cristian Battocchio and Sean Murray, who made 41 and 39 appearances respectively for the club last season.

Asked about the pair, Sannino explained: "You know I have 24 players in my squad and I can only pick 18 [in a squad]. Every match in the stands there are six or seven players and I do not want to repeat the situation; I can only pick 18 players and I apologise to the other players."

On Battocchio he continued: "I have to apologise to Battocchio because he is a little, big man and I would like you to make sure this goes in the newspaper because Battocchio is a very good player but in this situation I must pick [other players] and I am sorry for him and the other players. They all deserve to play in the match but I can only pick 18 players."

Sannino refused to answer directly whether he thought the squad was too big, simply stating: "This squad is big and I work with this squad now and in the future."

The odds on Sannino being the next Championship manager to leave their club was slashed from 40/1 to 3/1 during the course of tonight according to Oddschanger.

Sannino ended his interview with the Watford Observer this afternoon but saying: "Do you want a gaffer that stays sitting down on the bench or do you want a gaffer who has heart, big balls and is shouting? The future will tell."

Maybe the players are right and Beppe is a ****. Or they are wrong. We'll never know really.
I'm sure there are others who can do a better job.

Sannino managed Varese to multiple promotions and 3 seasons unbeaten at home. I think he's a good manager, and our players want someone like Zola who'll be their friend and hold their hand.

Sannino asks the players to do extra training after extremely poor showings in the league. Players complain and training gets reduced.

Sannino shouts too loudly in training. Players don't like it.

Sannino doesn't play certain players every week. Players don't like it.

We've got a massively talented squad but I'm afraid it's full of big egos and trouble-makers.

Footballers have it far too easy these days and would hate to see Sannino forced out by player power and stupid over reaction by some fans and media after petulance by Dyer particularly if we win against Leeds we could go top of the league.

When you add up all the clues, his position does seem untenable.

The final games last year. The rumours of unrest during pre season. Dyer's interview then goal. Marks and Frank Smith's cryptic tweets.

There is something clearly not right. Yellowkicks once suggested the Pozzos were happy to replace Beppe during the summer. If that is the case I can't see them hanging around if there is a breakdown of player/manager relationship.

The club seems to have done nothing to help this situation, which is baffling me. If everyone hates him why did he stay over summer?

If the club decided he was their man, why didn't they try to get rid of some of the trouble makers? and why did they sign so many players when Sannino clearly didn't want us to.

Seems to have been some poor planing over summer.

Maybe Dyers the one with the problem and not Sannino. He shouldn't be ranting ( if he actually was) at his coach when he's only just joined the club.

Could be a bit of a trouble maker.

Here's my summary of this. With Zola, we had a manager that was a teacher and a friend, who everybody respected because of his exploits as a player in the Prem. The problem was that he was **** at man-management after going on a losing run, with plenty of rumours that he couldn't get the players to respect him. Now we've got a manager who's got balls and is not afraid to do things his way and the players don't respect him. WTAF is going on here?

Maybe that's true. I'm looking at his extensive (for want of a better word) list of clubs that he's managed and I find myself wondering whether this situation and his management style is the reason there are so many clubs on that list?

Also loved what he said about the door being open if any players or fans have any problem with him. For those that don't like him, I suggest you take that option. Don't be surprised if you get the equivalent of an Italian pit bull shouting at your face though...

Note that I'm on fence in regards to Beppe but I'm swaying towards him

This is the bit that concerns me.

We had a manager before Beppe who was pretty much the polar opposite management wise, with a softly-softly approach. That apparently didn't work for the squad either.

Agreed - if no one has bothered to address their concerns with him then what do they expect to change?

Unlike most of us, footballers have the security of a guaranteed contract that they aren't going to lose, and yet I'm sure there are a number of people on this board who have addressed grievances with a boss in the past despite their relative position of weakness.

This seems to be tarnishing the start of the new season somewhat.

Who would have thought we'd ever have this problem whereby we have a squad with so much depth we can't actually fit them all in our matchday 18.

Got to admit, it looked as though it was going that way with all the additions over the summer, particularly in the midfield area, and whoever comes in will have just as much of a task when it comes to handling the situation as Sannino.

It's a great shame, because whilst the home form has been quite amazing in the main, the away form is the only thing that needs improving, and having only really had one game where the contest has been on an even footing, we can't really tell whether we are on course to putting it right. Promising signs winning last night with a rotated squad and a mediocre performance (I personally found the change of system a little concerning, but it didn't cost us anything), but have to say this is all pretty worrying that no-one seems to be happy.

In a fortnight where we looked set to struggle to keep hold of Deeney, losing our manager may not do us any favours at all. That said, something has to give in these situations for the issue to be resolved.

Dyer has worked with Nigel Pearson and never had an issue like he seems to here. I'm sure it's worse than Sannino just 'shouting at them in training'.

I think his management style depends heavily on communication. His philosophy of being angry and getting players angry in a good way is probably difficult to put across in any sort of exact way when you struggle to speak in any sort of detail in the language you're communicating with a lot of the players in.

He has done very well in the past and certainly seems to have worked out a way of coaching and managing, but I think the manner in which the staff are communicating with the players may well be the big issue here, the Watford Observer may be right. I just think that if this is the case, the interesting elements of the story and where te answer to the question 'should he stay on?' lies in a slightly more nuanced area than just 'he's angry', 'he's standoffish', or 'he doesn't speak the language'.

The above is just a theory of course, but I'm guessing putting his unique method across in the way he wants in a different language is very difficult, and may have been misinterpreted or simply ineffective.
