What should Frank have done? Not asked Beppe about the morale of the team after Dyer?

How can we call the Observer or it's journos a disgrace? Would you rather it became a propeganda rag filled with great news, or would you rather it understood the club inside out. From what I've read/heard I expect there is a lot more to it than a few disgruntled bench warmers. And how can anyone guess what set Dyer off? Rather than jumping to conclusions let's see what happens.

My personal view - he goes. The standard of football is beneath what this squad is capable of and we won't get promoted with him in charge. I'd rather have Zola back with a very experienced first team coach.

It is a propaganda rag for the players who on countless occasions over the last couple of years had no intention of giving their all for the cause. Where was the condemnation of the players play off final capitulation against Crystal Palace? Where was the article castigating them for the outrage against Huddersfield? Oh no, far too easy to attack a decent man in Sannino to placate grown men with 'Fessi' on the back of their replica kit.

Interesting that you would have Zola back who headed that shameful surrender v Palace.

Thing is, I treat all that YK posts as truly ITK based on previous performance. With that in mind something has gone seriously, seriously wrong behind the scenes.

I find it difficult to criticise the watford observer until we are made aware of the full story..

I'm sure all will be out in the open before too long.

what has impressed me is that Troy is still here regardless of how bad things are.

This shows the weakness of having a coach who is not directly responsible for player recruitment. Can't stand him but Ferguson is the most successful manager in English football history and I believe one of the reasons for that is that he never took this kind of **** from his players. Any nonsense and a player was out the door.....even Beckham.

Saying that, I remember an interview with John Barnes where he was explaining his form for England compared to when he played for us and the scousers. He said that some players need an arm around the shoulder and other players needed to be shouted at when they made mistakes. A good manager knows how to deal with the different players needs to get the best out of them. Sounds like Sannino may not have this skill.

Easy to throw blame at the Wobby for stirring things up but if they weren't getting info we'd be the first ones on their back as to why they aren't asking the questions. Frank Smith is a very good reporter with a very level headed view and opinion, he has stated that the issue has been around for a while now and that Dyer's outburst has put it in the limelight. If that hadn't had happened we'd all be none the wiser and when the wheels fell off around week 10 into the season we'd be shouting why didn't we know sooner?!

The answers to the questions are there but not yet in the public domain - I think the whole head coach situation at Watford since the Pozzos have come has been "be careful of what you wish for" and "the truth sometimes hurts"

To upset that many players - and I disagree that we have an overly ego filled squad, most of them have conducted themselves impeccably since their arrivals - he must have done something seriously, seriously wrong. His position now looks completely untenable.

A businessman is responsible for the purchase of players and the footballing coach has to go along with it.........and they say they have the clubs best interests at heart. Do me a farking favour.

He had the right to have the question of course. Its a question we ve all been asking.

Its the sensationalist manner that it was reported in.

Have to say I found nothing in Beppes comments to find fault with. He is passionate about his football and given the language barrier he has faced as well, copes well.
A few players have obviously got egos out of all proportion to what they have delivered on the pitch and really need to get on with delivering what they are paid for.

Keep Sannino, get rid of the foul-mouthed ex-MK Dons veteran Johnny Come-lately and any other players who fondly believe they've got an automatic right to play and have their egos massaged.

    They're easily replaced.

The coach must be in charge.

Looks more like a gas chamber to me. I reckon they found a way to bump off the ring leaders of this mutiny, so we don't have to sell them to our rivals. "Seven Watford players found dead in mobile freezer" you heard it here first!

  19. The wobbly have put their balls on the chopping block by releasing this story: if they are wrong and it turns out to be a storm in a tea cup then they are going to look mighty foolish.

Personally I think they are foolish anyway to risk their relationship with Gino / the club by writing it. The Pozzo's chose Sannino, he is their man. There is every chance they will simply cut out the cancer and move the offending players on if they believe Beppe is the right guy to get Watford promoted this season. Dyer and co could conceivably find themselves training with the U18s until a new home can be found.

I don't see what this has to do with the problem. We use a continental system which is used successfully all over the continent including at Udinese. Beppe has worked under this system for most of his life and he is not complaining.

This system has given us / him a terrific squad.

If the club had an issue then there would be a statement made about it. Also, people like Jon Marks and other players wouldn't be talking about it. It is coming from more that one source.

If that's true then they need to go.

You don't do a **** job just because your boss is an arse. Most bosses are arses. You speak to your bosses boss and if nothing improves, sit out your contract and then bugger off elsewhere.

Footballers are paid a huge amount for doing something most on here pay to play for fun. They need to grow up.

  25. Not necessarily no. If the wobbly pi**es Gino off (by creating bad PR) they may simply find access to club and players for interviews and suchlike increasingly difficult. The wobbly have chosen to attack the hand that feeds them, that is a silly risk in my opinion for a small business to take.

It's never dull supporting Watford, though I haven't heard of a manager (head coach) being sacked so early on after a win.

The bit that concerns me most & leads me to wonder if Sannino has the intellectual subtlety to handle the mixed nature of the squad is the fact that even after a month of pre-season, he had not even apparently got round to a worthwhile conversation with Dyer. Proven Champ player brought in to deliver what was beyond last season's squad, the head coach HAS to make an effort to get a handle on any potential senior player's views/approach to the game. Doesn't mean he changes everything to placate them, but it would mean he would have a much better understanding of how his tactics/philosophy might impact upon that player. There's little point acquiring an expensive & potentially beneficial asset & not learning how it works. Bit like buying new equipment in a factory & not getting round to learning how to operate it.

Maybe Sannino is subconsciously less amenable to those players whom he would not have chosen to recruit if it were his choice alone...that would be picked up on pretty quickly if true.

There's never been a bad word about Dyer from any club he's played at, even when he wasn't an automatic choice.
Fessi loves everyone like a 12-year old on e.....
For players like that to be so pi55ed off so early in the season is a concern.

And lets not forget the comment attributed to Deeney in the friendly...subsequently assumed to be a wind-up, but maybe it wasn't.

I'm all for the players knuckling down and being disciplined in their approach. I thought Dyer was pathetic on Tuesday night. I also think Sannino has been right to give them a kick up the backside. But if Sannino has failed to project leadership the team can, as a whole, buy into then he has to go.

    That's an 'if'.

You're right there. Twice in my employment history I've had new managers that have come in form outside the company, who have not bothered to sit down with their new staff, introduce themselves and have a little chat either as a group or individually.

In both cases they were **** managers and left or were fired within 6 months. The language barrier is not an excuse. Even if Dyer was brought in against his wishes this is the downside of a coach / manager system and Sannino should have sucked it up and spoken to him.

For me Zola had one way, put his arms round the players and give them a big kiss every now and then. Sannino is the opposite and was probably brought in to give some players a big kick up the arse. For me the best managers uses a variety of approaches dependant on the players concerned. Im not sure we have that?

Sannino is a coach, not a manager. Zola is a Manager not a coach.

You need both qualities to handle a team in the English leagues. The Pozzos are clever enough to have learned what to do next.

First people say the Wobby doesn't tell us anything we don't know, and when it addresses an issue where there has been lots of speculation, that's wrong too.

Perhaps those who've been posting speculation here should be banned from the forum.
