The fact that he was always knackered after half an hour, he definitely isn't suited to the premier league.

Everton were seriously going in for him? Wow! Someone up there hasn't been doing their homework.

Yeah, I thought that as well! Wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't true. Can imagine Koeman hearing about this and thinking that's the first I've heard of it!

His interview with L'Equipe translates as follows:

I owe a lot to the club that made me discover a championship, a new mentality and that allowed me to be in the regularity to which I aspired. I really took a lot of fun level football. But if Watford has an option to buy that the leaders want to lift, I do not see myself staying there. And this only for personal reasons. This has nothing to do with the supporters that I sincerely want to thank but with the club, everything did not happen as desired. Even if it really touches me to hear the leaders repeat that they want to buy me for a few weeks. But I gave myself time for reflection, I weighed the pros and cons and despite the great opportunity offered by Watford, I do not think my future is going through there. I understand the disappointment of the club that counted on me. But I ask them to be understanding and accept my decision which is irrevocable because I will not change my mind.
How do you see your future?
I think first of all to come back to Milan to meet the new management of the club in order to take stock with her and study all possibilities. Then we will take a decision together and in the interests of all parties. I am open to all options. If for the good of the club and my career, I have to stay at AC Milan, I would stay at AC Milan with great pleasure! If not, we will seek a solution that will also benefit everyone. But these discussions and reflection will come in due course. "

Against Man City on at least 3 occasions we heard Mason screaming at Niang to track back. He ignored him. I believe the money is best spent elsewhere. A lad with some skill but mentally for the premier league?.....I don't think so.

At least we know when we play Everton to attack down the wing he is playing on, zero work rate and the FB will have to try defend all by himself.

Personally, I think that is a bit harsh. Of all the players, I think he put in a shift and on his day, he is a big threat. It was just that he got tired quickly. Either that is because he hasn't been first player for a long time at AC Milan or that he simply hasn't got the capabilities of running non-stop for 90 minutes. Doesn't mean he didn't try though and I think he will be a decent player for Everton. If not, it wouldn't be the end of the world if he flopped and joined us on a free...

I get where you're coming from but personally for me I thought the guy was lazy. Has all the potential in the world to be a top player but will end up like Balotelli. On his day he is v.good but those days were few and far between. Also he faked an injury against Man City on the last day of the season just because he couldn't be bothered to play anymore and wanted to come off. Zero time for players like that. Especially when I see Penaranda continuing to play with a broken metatarsal in the u20 World Cup final and the desire to do well. He will become twice the player Niang is and he is already ours.

If I was an Everton fan I wouldn't be thrilled at spending £16mil on him but Everton fans don't know much about him because I doubt they watched many of our games with him in the team. They will believe the hype around him and soon be disappointed like most of us were. Amazing on his day but like Capoue those days came about once every 7 games.

    Don't Everton still have Deloufeu?
Is he not a similar player or does he play on the other wing?

Well he went to AC Milan on loan - was that turned into a permanent deal?

Good point mate regarding the Man City game. Not only did he fake the injury, but his acting was pretty pathetic. I believe that he 'could' become a great player if he is instructed by a decent manager. I just don't think Mazzarri used him in the correct way; making him track back a lot (like Amrabat) which was obviously affecting his stamina during the game - making him seem like a lazy sod.

Also, did Penaranda really have a broken metatarsal in the World Cup Final?! That's crazy that he continued to play on whilst still looking like one of the better players. It seems like he has a great mentality which is just what we need.

Yeah good point about Mazzarri not using him properly.

Yeah I can't remember exactly what minute he went down but I think it was around the 81st minute and he didn't come off until around the 93rd minute. In those 12 minutes he kept wanting the ball hit a couple shots and was trying his hardest to sprint even though you could tell he was in pain.

Everton fan here just getting the inside info, sounds like the type of player who is top on his day but garbage 4 out of every 5 games. Would that be right? I'm not sure if coming to us may actually benefit him, tracking back and doing the hard work seems to be the main gripe? In a team like ours compared to you guys he would have more time on the ball and the team set up in most games would be more attack minded compared to Watford's. We shelled out nearly 30 million on Bolaise so 16 for a similar sort of player appears a snip. I still, to this day, cannot fathom why we spent that much on Bolasie.

Pretty much. Not a player to rely on but you have the squad depth to bench him when he is out of form.

Seems to have a questionable attitude though.

The lad has talent without doubt. But based on what we saw last season, I would n't go to war with him, very likely to go missing when the going gets tough.
However if Koeman can sort this out, you'll have a player on your hands.

He's a bit Andros Townsend , cuts in and shoots all the time . When it goes in , it looks great on MOTD but most if the time it's too predictable and wastes possession.

I'm surprised Everton aren't more ambitious , unless he's seen as a squad player as he's not good enough to get in your first team .

100% will be a squad player, if Lukaku leaves we will need a big name signing to replace him and Niang wouldn't cut it with the fans.

I think he’s the type of player if everything is perfect around him from the Manager treating him how he wants to the teammates to being happy in his home like will have a top season score 10-15 goals. Trouble is the chances of that happening and everything staying like that are very slim. Definitely don’t see him at this stage as any better than Bolasie/Miralles for them.

sounds like a sort of player, as I said in initial post i think, that is wasted at a club where there are finer margins e.g watford due to his lack of tracking back and work rate.

It seems an attitude problem an aversion to the hard yards verses undoubted ability , think a poor man's balotelli and you won't go far wrong , rumoured arsenal in for him ad well , we must have missed something last year!

When he does have a great game, it will last for about 60 minutes, he's not a 90 minute player. However there was one match where half way through the first half he was instrumental in a breakaway after defending a corner having covered 100 yards damn quickly, he then spent the rest of the half ambling around. He's definitely got the skills to be a great player but from what we saw clearly lacks the temperament and self discipline to follow up on that.

As others have said, he's got a lot of talent although he needs to improve his decision making. His mental approach will be key, I don't actually think that he's lazy per se - when he first arrived I was pleasantly surprised by his work rate. I think he pretty much downed tools as he got fed up with our long ball football, you could see his frustration as he watched the ball whistle over his head on a regular basis. As soon as he'd made his mind up that he wasn't going to stay here, he was only interested in trying to score wonder goals and couldn't really be bothered with the rest of the game. If Koeman can keep him happy, he could be great. If not, I imagine he'll sulk and not contribute much and I would definitely worry about his attitude if he's going to be in and out of the team.

Sorry, but why would he want to be a squad player for Everton, when he is already a squad player for AC Milan?

Because history doesn't make a team great. AC Milan have basically been irrelevant for the last 5 years (although they have bought very well this summer and I'd expect them to nab a European spot this season). Plus he won't even be a squad player for Milan this season imo.
