Andre Gray got snapped up by a Premier League and he's ****. In fact, Premier League teams buy rubbish Premier League players from other teams all the time. Why do people on this forum loving throwing myths around?

Klose only got to the Bundesliga aged 26, Di Natale only really became a force at 28, at 24 Vardy was in non league, Luca Toni was in Serie B at 26.

And in case I didn't make it clear, I'm livid that Vydra is going to Burnley whilst we've given them £18 million for Gray. It's bloody stupid business and to be honest I'm not at all excited for the season ahead with Deeney - Gray up top and sick patients Cathcart & Kabasele in centre defence. Shambles that "transfer geniuses" Pozzo's are letting it happen.

We have moved on yes, and replaced him with poorer strikers.
Of course it's guesswork that he could succeed at this level, as it will be for any striker we or any other team in the bottom 10 buy. Unless you want to buy Defoe?
He will score the 8-10 goals that will keep them up, possibly at our expense.

What maths? The maths on why a Premier League club hasn't signed him yet even though he's about to join one...? There's no maths there.

Poorer strikers? Based on what? Vydra has to prove he can do it at Premiership level.

No the maths about what Gray is capable of doing if he started every week.

So does anyone who hasn't done it in the prem? So we must only buy proven prem scorers ? Like Okaka ?

I have a feeling you were like this last summer as well. Maybe you should just calm down a little. Vydra is in the past, just move on. For what it’s worth I don’t believe he is EPL standard

I wasn't, I was excited about the season ahead and actually really excited about Andre Gray. Yet again met there were constant injuries, lack of communication from the club regarding said injuries, boring football and manager upheaval.

We got away with it last year as some of the dead wood like West Brom & Stoke were due to go get relegated anyway, they needed a refresh.

This year Wolves coming up are probably already stronger than us, Fulham have bought well, West Ham look like they have bought well and have the brilliant Arnie, Burnley have bought really well too, Newcastle have Benitez. Bournemouth are plucky and with the pace and unity they have they'll just about be fine again. Palace IF they keep Zaha will be fine.

I'd say two out of Watford, Leicester, Southampton, Huddersfield & Brighton will join Cardiff. That's not good.

The Vydra deal is largely annoying because of Burnley and Andre Gray rather than him being such a guarantee at this level.

For me the Vydra deal is annoying because we should already know if he can cut it in the Premier League as he should've had a chance the season after we were promoted. Instead we binned him off and brought in Oulare, Ibarbo and Diamanti. No-one in their right mind could say that Vydra would've contributed less than those three clowns.

Despite his impressive record of a goal every 181 minutes in the Championship across five seasons and three different teams, he's probably not the answer now. But he could've been when the Deeney/Ighalo partnership started spluttering midway through 2015/16 and we had to plough on with it in the absence of any kind of acceptable option from the bench.

As I keep saying Andre hasn't had a chance to prove his worth as he started less than half the games last season.
The possible bad news for Gray is that I have an uneasy feeling Gracia likes Deeney still, saying in his last interview "he is important to us he is our no 9". does that mean he will be the no 1 striker again?

I thought this was a serious post until you said this about Burnley, I assume now it is all meant as a joke as they only made thier first signing yesterday.

Vydra flopped at WBA under Pullis... apparently because they played the wrong style for him. I would’ve thought Burnley wont be much different?

They bought another striker in the window who they hadn't expected too be able to get (Anichibe?) so barely played MV and when they did it was short sub appearances out wide.

Not a chance Leicester will be in a relegation scrap. Every year the quality of prem teams rises. We have to improve just to stand still. I would make us, Cardiff and HTFC the 3 favourites to drop.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he does given another chance at the league. I expect that he'll not be great and we'll subsequently buy him in 2 years for £18million.

For all the chatter about him what on earth makes anyone imagine Vydra would want to come back here ever again, after the way he was dumped after promotion?

Not impossible that he’s improved, nor that he could have a good streak with the right service.

But the evidence we have is that he wasn’t quite good enough.

If we don't get a quality striker we might well be third favourites to go down. However Benitez cannot keep creating a silk purse out of a sow's ear, Palace will be vulnerable if they lose Zaha, Bournemouth have done little this window and Southampton could struggle again. The pressure is on as Wolves, Fulam and West Ham appear to have made some good signings. My only concern is up front for us. Cathcart looked good on Saturday and we have strengthened our full backs and defensive options. Also we have plenty of options in the middle. Do hope MV joins Burnley if only to settle the long running debate over his EPL credentials.

As far as I'm aware they have only signed a Championship defender and are now close to signing a Championship striker. They also tried to sign the awful Clucas but it fell through. And Joe Hart is another they are trying to sign.

Meanwhile we have signed Deulofeu, Foster and Masina plus a couple of others who may well come good.

Unsurprising though that the drama queens seem to think the above constitutes Burnley buying well and us not.

What's with your rose tinted specs?

You're twisting what I said. It's not as though MV was a first choice purchase for Burnley is it, you can see this is a scramble signing to reinforce before deadline day. He was on the verge of going to Leeds last week, I read they walked away because the owner said he wasn't really committed to the move there when they met. Lampard said there wasn't a queue of clubs waiting to sign him & that must have been the case if he met with Leeds.

Will be very interesting to see how he does. I wonder if we get any sell on?
