I'm not convinced Vydra is not good enough for the EPL as most on here are assuming.

A player with the skill to score with that over the shoulder volley vs Lesta in 'that' game and many well taken poachers goals and his speed has a chance to succeed in the right formation with the right partners.
He had a bit of an attitude but I should think the arrogance has been knocked out of him by now.

Not convinced Burnley is the right team but it'll be an interesting story and there could be some wailing and gnashing of teeth on here if he comes good, or not.

Other than smash their transfer record assuming that deal has now gone through ? So have we, but ours was receipts for a player sold.

I have 50p here that says that if he joins Burnley, or in fact any other prem team, he will score more than Gray or Deeney (excl penalties). Putting my money where my mouth is.

Yes no point in any prem club signing someone who isn't already an established prem player. Money down the drain.

Nobody knows how well people have bought until the season starts. West Ham have bought a lot of players, none of which have played here before and the brilliant Arnie can also be the can’t be bothered Arnie if things don’t go his way. Wolves and Fulham still have a lot of Championship players. Palace are so reliant on Zaha it’s ridiculous and if he was to be sold or got a long term injury they are shafted. Burnley have bought well? I don’t think they have signed anyone and European football may result in a dip in league form. I have a feeling this might be Bournemouth’s year to struggle. This is not because of a dislike of the club that others have, I really couldn’t care less about them, it’s just a feeling.
Us. We finished 14th last season and have added a better keeper, a better left back, a quality winger and hopefully have Chalobah back so I feel we’ve improved the squad. I would love us to sign the lad from Barcelona as I do feel we are short options but it’s not the doom and gloom some people think in my view but I am a glass half full kind of bloke

    Is that what I said?

My point was that it hardly constitutes a great window for them either.

I'd be surprised if he moves there at all. He priced Leeds out of a move, and Burnley have only recently baulked at Clucas' wage demands

Yes it is. You used the fact that they had only signed championship players to indicate it wasn't a great window.

Talking about drama queens, I'm constantly surprised by the amount of people so desperate to drop straight to the ground and begin fellatio over in the Black Country. Perhaps we should wait until we've actually seen Wolves play a game in the Prem before we all declare they're a shoe in for Europe. As KnightGT has said, they've still got a lot of Championship players, Portuguese or not, and Joao Moutinho seems like a crazy coup but he's ageing and slowing down hugely, whilst Monaco were thrilled to sell to get a fee for him. The jury is still very much out on Espirito Santo in a non-second-tier league as well. As it stands, it might be worth looking at their centre back options for some context.

On top of their own issues, of course, the Prem is literally just a different league. Even the players themselves have talked in number about this, with concepts like 'getting your Premier League legs' in reference to the increased demands on fitness and pace of game. Every year more people seem to perpetuate this stupid myth along the lines of 'top half of the Championship could beat the bottom half of the Prem' just because a second string Brighton side go out in the 4th round of the cup to a team challenging for promotion. It's just not the same.

Yes, I agree with this. I remember thinking West Ham had a good window this time last year when they bought in "proven" premier league quality in Hart, Zabaleta and Chicarito. You forget that at some of these clubs, the weight of expectation drags these teams down. If their new players don't hit the ground running, don't be surprised to see West Ham dragged in to the relegation picture again. Same for Newcastle. I hate to add the obvious candidates to the list (because it bugs me in the past when non-Watford fans have made an assumption that Watford will be in the relegation picture based on very little substance) but from what I've seen, Huddersfield and Brighton are likely to be down there as well. I'd love to see Palace struggle but I suspect they'll have a little too much quality assuming He stays.

As for us - I looked at this list that FTRE posted on their twitter and I actually think that we look ok if (big if) we avoid injuries to key players. If they all stay, I'd say we've got decent strength in depth in every position and I don't think we've been able to say that since we got promoted. If Success starts playing to his potential, that's a decent looking set of strikers as well.

Yes, it hasn't been a 'great' window by them.

That doesn't make your response any more relevant though.

Do you think signing Ben Gibson makes for a great window?

Two ‘that goals’ in one game!

For most people that’s a life time’s ration.

Btw, behind a Lesta lad going a bit large in a Vardy shirt at LGW security just now.

He was about 7 so I let it pass.

    Also his dad was massive.

Take it Vydra's still got the same agent then? If so the guy seems hell bent on holding his career back for £££.

Vydra must be a very weak willed individual if he can't stand up to his own agent. It may well be that money is the prime motive of both agent and player.

    Great deal for Burnley.
    per BBC

Another news flash from Burnley, who are now apparently in talks with Derby over a possible deal that will see the Clarets sign Matej Vydra and Nahki Wells head in the other direction.

According to Sky Sports both players are set to do medicals at their respective potential new clubs later on Tuesday.

However, if a deal is completed, then Vydra would join Burnley on a permanent deal, but Wells would only join Derby on loan.

That's the Vydra that received the Championship Golden Boot last term, after scoring 21 goals for the Rams.

Just a quick question, why does Vydra get sold on by so many clubs so quickly?

    Attitude and greed.

Dyche trying to put the Championship band back together. Smart manager, so maybe he knows what he's doing but it does smack of desperation. Hasn't gone in for Deeney or Vydra until now.

So Dyche who was given the heave ho at Watford because it was deemed that he couldn't get a tune out of players such as Vydra, is now signing Vydra. He is going to a team where nearly all of the goals are scored as a result of a corner, free kick, or long ball punted into the box, and we expect this to end in anything other than Vydra failing to make any kind of positive impact. You can't make a silk purse out of a cows c*nt Mr Dyche.

Or maybe he feels that after proving himself thoroughly in the Championship once more, he’s allowed to be a bit self-centred and try and get a move to a club that will give him a proper crack at the PL? After all, most of the best strikers have to have a bit of arrogance and greed about them.

Either theory could be correct. And I’m not saying he would certainly be a roaring success if we had tried to bring him back. But I think he’s better than Gray and Okaka and at the price, we should have been interested.

That being said if the club are confident enough on getting Alcacér, I can see why they aren’t.

Vydra is absolutely going to fail there unless Burnley dramatically change the way they pay. Won't be his fault, either.

Dyche doesn't strike me as stupid, though, so I can only assume he plans to change the tactics up this year.
