Who do we want to go in the next window & what do we want coming?

Not sure we really need anyone but were we still struggling for goals in January then Andros Townsend and Peter Crouch (maybe just a loan until the end of the season) would be two I'd look at.

They're probably not the type that management are interested in though and I don't really see it happening, particularly Crouch.

 

I see Michu is still looking for a way out of Swansea too.

I personally thought Ake was beaten far far too many times by Shaqiri on Saturday and was thankful to Mark Hughes ineptness when he decided to take him off. After i'd noticed Shaqiri had done a number on him a few times I watched Ake more carefully, constantly getting sucked in to central defence without looking over his shoulder to see who was coming in (and there were people coming in!)

As soon as Jurado's fit & ready Anya will revert to LB I have no doubt. Ake is a competent back up. I'm more concerned about cover for RB in case Nyom ever gets injured or suspended.

 

We need Anya to stay in an attacking role as Jurado doesn't have the pace we need in that position.

 

Anya is actually more threatening going forward as a FB than he is in midfield. Strange but true.

 

No one has stood out at left back yet, which is why if I were Gino I'd be looking to see whats around.

Other than that I think we are fine.

 

Gueds will get his chance if Capoue gets injured, or if Abdi and Jurado get injured.

He is a useful player to have on the bench.

 

Anya is woeful in midfield . He doesn't have the technical ability to play that role . His pace is far more dangerous coming from deep FB position as he can run onto the ball. In midfield you play with ball at your feet which he struggles with .

Anya can also play RB if Nyom gets injured .

Britos can play LB , Cathcart and Behrami can both play RB . We have plenty of cover .

If Ibarbo, Diamanté and Berghuis aren't up to speed by January we will need player(s) to cover the front positions .

Agreed on Townsend , would be an excellent loan option .

 

Out in January: - Lloydinnio, unless we can find him a coaching role; Holebas, unless he decides he wants to start playing for us like he can; Diamanti, passed it at our level IMO; Dyer, surplus to requirements; Belkalem, I always thought this guy would do well, but our management teams all seem not to have rated him, so sadly out he goes. Gilmartin is another possibility IMO, I don't think he is good enough even as a 3rd choice for a PL team, surely we could get better, though he would have to be replaced, before offloading.

We need a LB and an out and out pacey striker, plus a new 3rd choice keeper, unless we have an academy GK who could fill that role?

 

When we had Townsend on loan I seem to remember Mackay sent him back to Spuds early due to a rumoured attitude problem or some kind of off the field incident. I know it was a while ago but would he want to come back here? Good player though obviously.

I expect he is more grounded now.

 

Firstly you have to find someone good enough who knows the likelyhood of featuring is close to 0 and if you find someone better than Gilmartin we would have to pay higher wages. I agree that if Gilmartin were to be called into action I may end up having to do what StuBoy does.

 

Porto want to buy Layun permanently and are willing to pay £/€ 6 Million apparently. Not sure if it was in euros or pounds.

 

If Gilmartin were to be called into action we would definitely 100% lose. I can't help thinking, what's the point in having him.

I happen to believe he still has a lot to contribute to us and £6 (don't have a euro key) is way underpriced.

He's actually made some impressive saves for the u21s. I wouldn't be too unhappy to see him as a late sub for an injured keeper, once or twice.

 

Think that was the deal we agreed at the time of the loan.

 

Big Chris on a free ? As cover for Deeney or Ighalo if they get a long term injury ?

Just a thought, as he's good around the dressing room .

Could be cover for CB too , like Marcus Gayle did so well for us.

Might be too old to start on the wing admittedly, but could probably cover for the last 20 mins of a game if Anya , Jurado or Abdi picked up a knock .

He's also home grown too , so would be vital in making sure we field at least 8 home growns in every starting XI or squad of 25.

Do we still need to name at least 8 home growns in the January squad or do the ones from 31 August carry over ? Not sure if the ruling is the same as the FL was last year ?
