Out of interest if/when Bournemouth go down, and we stay up, and if he recovers to full fitness, who would take Callum Wilson as a Watford striker?

    Only if we sold Ighalo.

He looked class before he got injured but was playing in a very gung-ho attack-minded team. I'd certainly take him if the price was right. Can't play him, TD09 and Ighalo together but would be good to rotate and always have good option on the bench.

He'd FALL OVER himself to join us.

If QPHahahah are out of contention for the play offs by Jan (very possible the way things are going) might they be persuaded to part with Matt Phillips? Would be a good signing IMO.

Wilson Deeney, sounds like a Solicitors or Estate Agents!

Probably both as thick as estate agents too.

The more I think about it, the more I think that Deeney and Wilson would actually make outstanding strike partners.

I'd imagine it's an option - didn't Layun do an interview earlier this year saying he might come back to Watford?

I hope he does, we need a decent LB!

Why would he be coming back then? Does he know someone?

Ake was superb today, as he was second half last week.

    Getting better each week.

What a strange comment (yet again) considering Ake's weekly improvement

Ake won every tackle & every 50/50. And of course set up the 1st goal. I thought he was outstanding all afternoon. If he keeps that up we definitely do NOT need another LB

...in January. I know that's what this thread is about but with him on loan we do need a longer term option.

I suppose keeping him is out of the question?

I'm not being critical of Ake as he is doing OK, but he is only on loan from Chelsea to the end of the season, whereas Layun is our player who is out on loan till the end of the season, that's when I hope he comes back!

Getting Ake to sign for us would be a huge deal, the boy is only going to get better and better. Kept Moses in his pocket so well he had to go off and cry.

It could be worth a try, maybe even in January?

  20. Keeping Ake would be attractive option but he's not ours and signed a 5 year deal with Chelsea in the summer

Davide Santon might be interested come Jan, now he will see we are not cannon fodder, and not getting so many Inter games. Affordable with Holebas off the books.

  21. I believe that, not being an emergency loan, his move can be made permanent at an time. For a fee of course.

If we could get rid of Jurado, that would be just great.

Januzaj if he gets recalled from his current loan or Patrick Roberts would be good, someone who can run at players and create something..
The players behind Ighalo are slow and keep hold of the ball too long.

Other than attacking midfield I think we have a good team, id play Behrami as a holding midfielder though as Watson looked bang average last two games.

i think the scouts are lucky. It is very obvious where we are weak - Anya needs replacing with a skillful quick winger(bolassie type) and Watson is probably a squad player at this level. Whether Gueds can fill in here i am not sure tbh.

i would also like to see Britos have a go with Prodl. Cathcart has donne well but few signs he may struggle against top teams. Prodl was immense for 1st few games and 1 slight slip up and not seen him again

  25. I'd like to see Gino have £10m punt for Ake, see if Chelsea will throw in Chalobah

I shall probably be pooh poohed for this, but what about Johnnie Jackson of Charlton as home grown cover at leftback?

He's always quite impressed me when I've seen him, but appreciate he doesn't fit the Pozzo mould at 32 or 33 whatever he is.

You will be pooh poohed and quite rightly so. Horrifically slow, 33 now, not good enough and doesn't even play at left back.

That guy Forestieri at Sheffield Wednesday looks worth a punt.

We brought in a quick skillful player in Ibarbo who is ready to play from what Quique said the other day. And Watson has been outstanding since he got his chance in the team, how can you dismiss him as just a squad player?? Behrami hasn't been able to get back into the team and he had a great start to the season!

Probably get some players we've never heard of who will take 3 months to get fit, then once fit turn out to be shyte.

Failing that, another midfielder - someone to take over or provide cover for Jurado, could do with another full back as well.

Issac Success at Granada, he looks ideal to play in one of the three attacking midfield positions, im watching him at the moment and he is their best player. Seen him a few times now, he is strong, pacey, skilful if a little inconsistent but only 19.

Looks a star in the making to me, doubt Granada would be happy if we got him though.

  33. Hornet23

Agreed, seen him a few times as well and he looks like a great prospect. Might let him mature a bit at Granada for another year or two before we steal him though :sign13:

Yea I think he will play for a top team one day, looks a bit special..

I can imagine Granada fans might be a little pissed off that we got Ighalo and had their long term Nyom loan cancelled so he could join us so perhaps we could offer them a few players on loan and we cover the wages if we could get Issac Success..

Perhaps Ibarbo and Diamanti's loans transferred to them or loan them Berghuis.

I still think we need perhaps more depth at centre back, unless Hoban is close to a return? Prodl, Cathcart & Britos have all been excellent, but with Prodl injured (not sure how long for?) if anything happens to Britos or Cathcart at the weekend then we're woefully short!

Ake has made left-back his own, can see Holebas going on loan and then permanently in the summer, so will possibly need another left-back.

We definitely need a winger with pace that knows the league and fits our philosophy. I'm not convinced by either Abdi or Jurado out wide. Anya is clearly out of his depth but does add versatility and covers a HG spot. Will be interesting to see if we go back in for Perotti after he's seen our start to the season.

Berghuis and Oluare need to go out on loan to the Championship just to toughen up a bit and get up to speed with the English game. Possibly harsh on Oluare as we haven't seen him play yet, but definitely Berghuis needs to!

I can see Diamanti going. I think he'd have been excellent for us but doesn't suit playing anywhere in our system due to the form and importance of Deeney and Ighalo.

Players I can see going either permanently or on loan:

    Holebas
    Berghuis
    Diamanti
    Ibarbo
    Guediora

This potentially frees up 5 spaces in the squad, plus the 1 left anyway as we only submitted a squad of 24.

We could see as many as 5 or 6 coming in:

    Centre back
    Left-back
    Central midfielder
    Winger (x2?)
    Striker
