TBF I think the field they call their own and play on is on the English side of Chester rather than the Welsh side.

Yes but how many away fans do they let in?

Should be a decent turnout then. Decent tie for both clubs. I just hope we try and take this competition seriously again and field a strong side. Chesterfield will certainly play their strongest side as even a mid-table Championship side is still a scalp.

    I should think so.
Going back to 2018/19 all the teams to play us here in the FA Cup have sold out the whole end.
Welcome a not very exclusive group.

Pity the stadium isn’t fit to allow more away in as you guys won’t be selling out … which also isn’t unusual lol

Good of the club to give your lot another 500 tickets. It’s the season of giving and we should be helping out those less fortunate than us. At the end of the day it’s a rare opportunity for your fans to visit a championship club, we have running water in the toilets and everything.

I remember when we played Chesterton two days after they'd lost their FA Cup semi-final replay against Middlesbrough. They'd been 2-0 up in the first match at Old Trafford, were pegged back to 2-2 late on, went 3-2 down in extra-time but then scored in the 120th minute thanks to a fella called Hewitt, who looked to me like the least likely professional footballer going. He ran and kicked the ball as if he was wearing slip-on black leather loafers.

If I remember rightly, Chesterton were bang in the promotion race but the FA Cup run caused a fixture pile-up and they had to play four games in a week and ran out of steam. They still managed to beat us 2-0, though. Craig Ramage got sent off for a particularly idiotic act of petulance and/or dissent. Shortly afterwards, the chant went up in the Vic Road end (the home end back then). W... A...

I joined in but instead of ...T... F... and so on, I shouted ...N...K...E...R

It was supposed to be a searing satirical comment on the way Ramage had let down the rest of the team, but the fella in front of me took didn't see it that way. He turned round and started whacking me repeatedly with his rolled up match programme. "Shut up and support the team," he spluttered.

The other notable thing about Chesterton that season was that they had Sean Dyche and Mark Williams playing alongside each other at the back – both of whom later played for, and in Dyche's case managed, us.

ahh I won’t be going….i only turn up to the important games. much better things to do than watch our reserves lose to some plucky non league upstarts.

tbf if you were not coming across as such a **** I probably would have offered you my ticket. I watch quite a lot of national league football, and have had a soft spot for the spireites who I once took to an fa cup final in an ancient football manager save.

Pleased to hear it, with a following like that for your size club, no more than you deserve.
Don't worry about no beer available in the ground, I have never bought any there in the 56 years that I have been supporting Watford. Plenty of pubs in the town and I think all bar The Red Lion outside the ground welcome away supporters.
Have a great day out, but not too great. ;)

If you read back I came on asking re extra tickets and why we couldn’t have the full VR,
I didn’t start the p taking as was respectful with my questions but then one or two started “ big day out” taking the p so just standing my ground and having a little laugh lol

Look friend, your own forum thinks you’re making a prat of yourself, there is a reason we are giving you a bit of stick and it’s not because you came on here asking about allocation.

Go back and read your posts and you will see where you went from being polite to obnoxious.

Overall Watford fans are as decent a bunch as you will find, but act like a **** and expect to get treated like one.

I've long been lobbying for the club to bulldoze larges swathes of green belt land in order to build a 160k seater mega stadium.

This fixture is exactly why. We could give Chester an allocation of 150k (which would sell out in 24 hours) and still have room for segregation and the 20 Watford fans who actually care about this match.

Of which I am one ironically.

Some mad bants going on in this thread. Magic of the FA Cup beautifully encapsulated.

Given Ismael seemed to take the League Cup seriously, guessing we'll put out quite a strong team here, then hopefully we'll draw one of the Premier League giants away and all go on their forum moaning about ticket allocations whilst they patronise us for being a small, **** club.

Football fans are bizarre. Chester fans seems to think we should reconfigure our entire stadium for a low priority game. Baffling.

One suggests we haven't taken 3,500 to an away game in the last 5 years. With 3 of the last 5 years in the Prem, I imagine we have...

In case anyone was rattled by the wayward Chesterfield fan, Watford and Chesterfield have more or less the same population, so we utterly trounce them on the crucial attendance/population % metric.

    Sleep easy.

Yes I’m sure you averaged your current 16/17k in the old lge2 ? Or perhaps I suggest all the glory hunters like yourself maybe came along in the good times of the championship/ Prem ?
    Good night.

I started following Watford in the third tier when we were getting around 12k. I don't know what you mean by the 'old league 2', may be before my time.
