I wouldn't stress about it as I can't even see it on my phone through Tapatalk!
    Do people still use laptops?

Anyway about Gibbs I reckon he'd love to stay down South but Gino is playing his usual game and is playing for time! Still over 6 weeks till the window closes!

Wouldnt be the worst signing if the price and wage expectations were right.

Fits in with the "nearly but not quite" policy that we have been adopting with regard to English signings.

    Still need a striker though.

Well at least my comrades on Twitter and I made the journalist do a little bit of research and got him/her/them to look up the odds

True but this forum has been recently suggesting he'll probably go elsewhere & the odds with the bookies have only just shifted to make us odds-on favorites. So whatever the reason for that actually is, I doubt we're to blame.

Definitely a big move in the market to go from 14/1 to 4/6 in such a short space of time. That would normally indicate that there is some truth to it.

Would be a great signing, would have rathered Robertson but Gibbs is definitely a better option that Friend. As long as we are not paying the £15mil previously wanted by Arsenal but a more realistic £8mil-£12mil, then it would be a good piece of business.

Sorry, I misread your post. I thought you meant the HM article was the interesting development as the move to odds on was already being discussed on here on the last page. No worries.

How low do the odds need to go for the signing to auto trigger?

Equally, can I put loads of money on him NOT coming here and avoid us signing a completely average player?

I saw a fabulous tweet about Kieran Gibbs this morning from a Watford fan.

'The reason he's **** at defending is because they do little defensive coaching at Arsenal.'

    Special.

WBA have bid 10m, rejected by Arsenal. Sky Sports say Arsenal want 12m.

If we want him, just make the 12m bid and get it done!

Could Kieran Gibbs be our record signing? Let's re-read that - Gibbs? Record signing? Come on, the guy is bang average and we could easily get the same quality defender from another team for half the price. The fact he plays ( term used loosely ) for Arsenal and he's homegrown has driven his price tag right up. I sincerely hope we are smart enough to realise that and it's just agent talk and ****** journalism chucking our name in there to create a buzz of interest

Must mean they have suspended betting on him joining WBA as well though, right? According to SkyBet, they are more likely to sign him than us.

Haven't a clue, Ladbrookes had a tweet saying Gibbs to Watford and Matic to United being suspended. I haven't got a clue with the bookies which is probably reflected in my account history.

Gibbs is also homegrown, whereas Robertson is now. Big plus point there.

I suspect as ever we are looking at 3 or more left back options. The fact that Gibbs price is £10m plus along with high wages, probably makes him an unlikely transfer.

I can't see Gino and Scott paying over the odds for Gibbs and I trust them to either get him at a decent price or move on to the next target on the list.

Skybet have just updated their odds. We're now odds on favourites at 4/5.

Betting has been suspended though, which tells me it's basically a done deal.

I trust Gino to have struck a good deal with Arsenal. Whatever happens, I'm just glad that we'll never be mugs in the transfer market, like Hull and that ridiculous deal they struck with Loserpool for Robertson.

Surely we have more urgent positions that need recruitment than LB.

We need competition for Holebas. He picks up bookings like black cabs pick up fares and he's not getting any younger. I could also be that he will be sold to free up an overseas place in the squad.

Gibbs would be a great signing, capped by England and a lot more professional than Holebas.

Don't know why everyone is so worried about the cost of it, we're a premier league club and it's time we start buying players of a higher calibre which obviously means paying higher wages. Yes many players are overpriced nowadays but that's just how it is. If we couldn't afford it then we wouldn't be linked, plus it's not like it's coming out of your pockets! COYH

In addition to what @Markoa$ has shown, apparently during the Arsenal vs Chelsea game earlier today, the commentators said he's coming to us. Whether that's because they've seen us talk about it or they have insider info, je sais pas

Except you have to do what deals you can when they become do-able...you can't expect to be to make signings in a nice pre-ordained order.

I like this as a potential signing. This guy will look a class apart I'm sure. His level of fitness and stamina will show too. Not sure why the big fuss....

Homegrown, plays for a club in the top six, his best years still ahead, etc. Only downside is that we have a good player covered at left-back already, but as others have mentioned, his discipline has been poor and I suspect this will be his downfall.

  35. lowerrous

Would be a good signing; the kind of level we should be aiming for.

Hopefully our biggest signing this window won't turn out to be a left-back though - we need a new striker and winger of the same calibre.
