sure - what i was just saying was it won't be us - if there are clubs willing to pay 15m / 80k pw- we will move on as that is out of our reach- he is a bit of an injury risk (yes fits in ok) as well

Have to agree. Teams haven't entered the panic buy stage yet.
He's a good player but it doesn't ring exciting signing to me

He will end up at Newcastle. Injured.

    Aki to Bournemouth for 20m
I would have preferred him. We seem to be making an effort to get more British players

Agreed but if nobody comes in & gives them what they want that could drop to a more reasonable & affordable level. We shall see.

Thing Is, premier league wage inflation does restrict the secondary market. Few clubs in Spain, Germany or Italy are paying the sort of wages that lower mid table premier league clubs dole out on their squad players. Once a player is on 50k a week, either they push through to the next level or it's another Prem club or China for them.

    Aki?!

He was alright but 20 ******* million? No thanks. Chelsea must be ******* themselves laughing when the bid came through, probably had to check to make sure it wasn't a wind up.

Gibbs is average at best, certainly not worth the fee, nor the wages.

You'd get Purple Aki for a lot less than £20m.

Gibbs is better than average in a team like ours. But is an injury risk.

Mirror saying arsenal have dropped there asking price to 8mill....at that price he becomes way more reasonable....

yup - if he halves his salary expectation we could have ourselves an injury prone left back!

Several sources saying this is back on and we've made an enquiry after Gibbs was left behind from training camp.

I'd have been happy to have Ake on 50k a week on a 5 year deal. Was desperate for him to join. Feckin muffins.

When you say sources do you mean random folk on Twitter?

Yes. Faceless Twitter posters are now sources apparently.

If the bloke down the pub is on twitter as he sups his pint of mild, does it lend his 'source status' more credence?

In Gibbs case it's 3-4 Arsenal specific ITK sources and one sports editorial chief. Daily Mail i think.

Heard from a few sources that this one has broken down due to work permit problems.

More specifically, it's not clear he's an actual footballer as he's that ****.

Third rate journalism from me but the odds at multiple bookies have shortened dramatically on us getting him, to the point that we're now clear favourites. Make of that what you will....

What I would make of that is a rise in bets for Kieran Gibbs going to Watford. Not necessarily that something is happen, but more people now believe that it is close to happen. Whether this belief is motivated by fact remains to be seen.

i wasn't very hyped about Gibbs but I still think he will be a much, much better option that Holebas. It's now a yes from me.

True, when odds shorten it's either because someone actually knows something that is happening behind the scenes or people are just lumping money on it and the bookies react to it. However, apparently it's all gone quiet on WBA's end. A quick cursory look on their forums and on Twitter (yes I'm sad) show just regurgitated clones of an article a week ago with no new fresh news. Maybe....

If we could get him for a decent price then this would be great news, and it's highly unlikely Gino would get him for an indecent price, so this seems all good either way really.

You can't say that every deal has been frugal i.e. Oulare, Kums etc. but generally it feels like they are sensible with money and run the football club like a stable business. Rather than like a hobby that may one day become boring leaving us with £80million of debt. It's quite nice that when the pozzo's sell up we will financially be in a far superior position than we were when they joined us. I feel like a lot of clubs get dumped when they're in trouble. No doubt the Pozzo's will sell when the club is at its peak value, not when the club is a stale hobby and a financial burden.

Nothing to do with Kieran Gibbs but does your picture/signature thing not annoy anyone else? Just the sheer size of it!

Tbf, it's a great photo of @nisman94. It really highlights his best features. That's a potential profile pic right there.

The size of it does annoy me sometimes. I do baulk at it whenever I see it. Then again, it was of a brilliant day (although I'm not in that pic, I can't find a pic of me from that day but I am on the club's YouTube channel in a vid from that day)

    I was being sarcastic

have you thought about making it bigger so it's wider and then cropping it to the about 1/4 of the height so it's like a banner? Like this...
