QSF likes "his" players even more than Redknapp. Reyes and Roberto Jiménez have signed for Espanyol so far, both of which have played for him at Atletico!

Even the Pozzos get it wrong sometimes. When you're buying expensive players, which we now are, flops are expensive. It comes with the territory.

 

Where'd you get £8m? On transfermarkt it says 6.45 (which is still way too much)

 

I suspect that the devil is in the details, as always. Chances are our reported buying fee included add-ons, and chances are that the sale we're negotiating with Espanyol has addons too. I don't think Gino is a bad enough negotiator to just take a 5 million hit.

Doubtless we'll lose some value, but I imagine we'll be close to breaking even when all is said and done.

Even if we don't, we're in a world where we turn down 38 million squids for Iggy now. Losing 3-4 million on Jurado is apparently pocket change, which sounds ludicrous to type and yet somehow justifiable with the way things are going for us lately. It's surreal.

Hearing Jurado's been sold for £15 million is the only thing that could make this day even better than it already is.

*This is hypothetical. I have not heard anything.

 

I'd of excepted him leaving for free, maybe harsh as it was his first season in England blah blah blah. I guess I had high hopes when he arrived and with the commentators saying what a marvellous talent he was week in week out just added fuel to the fire. But wow how extraordinary im actually saying this. It is surreal if all this is true. Knocking off 25m and 38m bids. Still pinching myself and reading things two or three times.

In all business your best loss is your first loss. Take a smaller fee, free up a place in the squad and wages. At the end of the day last years money is spent and the objective of staying in the Premiership achieved. He was never going to be a player you recouped the fee on anyway. Now for Amrabat to move on.

 

I'm sure I recall WD Sports saying the fee for Jurado was actually 4.5 million euros and not 6.5 as reported by the media. So we've only lost out on 1.25 mill-ish.

Shame the lad didn't make it here and got absolutely marmalised by the spoilt and impatient amongst our numbers.

As I wrote before, best he go now, as he couldn't do right for doing wrong as far as too many are concerned.

One of the more skilful and elegant players to have pulled on the Yellow, perhaps he wasn't entirely suited to English football.

Of all the players Jurado was given the most chances to shine in terms of second/third chances. Never got the impression he was being given grief at the matches just on Internet forums. At the end of the day his performances were not good enough despite many starts.

 

Talented player played in a role which really didn't suit him. Seems like a nice bloke and like it or not was a mainstay in the first Watford team to stay in the Premier League. Wish him well and hopefully Quique uses him more productively in Spain.

 

Really? Certainly in the last few months of the season when form dipped he was the subject of plenty of abuse and sarcastic cheers when he was subbed. And that was just from me.

 

Funny UEA, I got the impression you were pretty neutral about him as a player (though I've not seen you post much about him either way)?

Yeah I am. It was a rubbish punchline. The more serious bit was I've heard plenty of people shouting at/about him at games.

 

There were people having a go at him as far back as against Norwich last year for not running enough when off the ball, among other things, as well as a guy screaming for him to be hauled off at Chelsea when he supposedly cost us their second goal.

And this was when he was arguably playing his best football here, so I can certainly back up UEA's observations about him getting stick in the real world.

 

Dress it up however you like but getting rid at any cost is the best for all concerned.
