Only a two year deal (option of a third) so not the worst signing on paper.

Him and Fletcher (which I assume will be the end of our central options coming in) is a bit underwhelming though.

A good player if his mind is on it.

Hopefully get a few goals just to annoy Bournemouth fans and help us !

If we can get the King of 3+ years ago this is cracking business, if not it is still a relatively cheap squad player.

Its not a super exciting signing by any means, but it doesn't really seem like we are going to be making any signings of that ilk as we are clearly absolutely ****ed financially.

JP - King - Sarr is a reasonable front three if we can get King into any kind of form.

Has been crap in recent years but probably less crap than Deeney and Gray so why not? We're not going to get the players we need but the squad will still be better than last season. Going to be a tough old season.

If fit then he's an upgrade on any other striker at the club. Not saying much, but potentially still a baby step in the right direction.

JP is clear. This guy will be in the reserves kicking up a fuss by Christmas.

Not expecting us to sign players at the peak of their powers, but we seem to be signing rather too many on the wrong side of it.

Prefer this to Diagne. Similar age profile but free and with proven PL pedigree, albeit not for a couple of years. He may react well to being the main man up front / a bit of Xisco love.

  11. Blimey. I've seen negativity before, in fact you kind of expect it on here, bit this is ridiculous. He tore us a new bumhole a couple of seasons back, has had more than one two figure prem seasons, with service from Sarr/Sema/Zinc/JP as a 10 I can see this being a top signing- and a free.

    Yup.

Not inspiring but a very sensible option.

Has some pace, has scored goals in the Prem.

    Free.

    Better than Gray.

Good signing and happy with it.

    Outside of last season, his 4 seasons in the Prem before that;

    16 goals 2 assists in 16/17
    8 goals 3 assists in 17/18
    12 goals 3 assists in 18/19
    6 goals 4 assists in 19/20

For a free, 4 proven premier league seasons (last season under Ancelotti doesn’t count) in which over those 4 seasons he’s averaged 10.5 goals and 3 assists.

Honestly think he’s going to get 8-12 goals for us with Sarr and Dennis either side of him.

    Our front line is rapid.

Yup to get the best out of him he needs to be an integral part of the 1st team and made to feel at home. If he's a peripheral player we wont see the best if him.

I’m on the fence with this signing - mainly because I think he’s a decent player…but I can easily see it going wrong as well.

But I am now beginning to believe more and more that we are in dire straits financially. Few million thrown around here and there - but looks like a season where the club will need to bank the overwhelming majority of the income.

  17. Actually not a bad signing, especially on a free

Got a bit of everything, and not too slow either

    Thumbs up from me

Good pace, strong, and capable of hurting teams on the break. If his heart is it, he could be a real asset. Strange how it went for him at Everton, but he wouldn’t be the first player to fail there and thrive elsewhere.

Seen on Twitter that we were interested in Olise but didn't want to pay the £8m up front, so money certainly seems an issue! On the one hand, I am pessimistic, he's not getting any younger and hasn't done much in the last two years, but on the other, he's free, and the bar is on the floor when it comes to comparisons with his new teammates!

More then happy with this if it means at least as a bare minimum one or two of our useless turds are definitely out of the door. Should also be a starter ahead of Deeney, unless Gino/Munoz have completely lost the plot.

Touted to go for £30m only 2 year ago. Good player on his day and adds strength up top. Upgrade on success gray could also persuade his former teammate dugamba or whatever his name is to join. On a free with a must be relegation clause of some sort in his contract.

Not a bag signing, and probably the best we could hope for given we have limited funds. Hopefully Josh will come with a point to proven, as he was given limited playing time at Everton. Don’t know where that leaves Cucho, a loan out presumably

Could be a good signing, but comes with an attitude.
He downed tools at Bournemouth when he found out Defoe, Ake and Afobe were on more money than him.
    He his time passed? Possibly.
Bournemouth are having a chuckle on their forums.
    Time will tell.
Who are we actually signing? No one of any note.
When we signed the guy from Nantes l thought we were going in the right direction. He has some talent.
Now we are signing players who can't even get a game or come with a warning about attitude and commitment.
    I hope l am wrong.
    Interesting season ahead.

Weird time at Everton but not bad business as a free transfer and potentially a great free transfer if he can recapture his previous form.

We've certainly had to start again in terms of rebuilding and I feel we are weaker than we were the first time we got promoted. Personally I still see us as bottom 3 in terms of quality

Covid and relegation has certainly affected our finances so the signings being made may not be the big signings some were hopeful of. They seem to be sensible ones, players that have the ability but not worked out recently. I think we’re going about it in the right way. King definitely has ability as shown in the past and at 29 is certainly not past it.
It will be tough this season but this looks a better way of doing things

At least we've learned our lesson from Gray and are now signing our over-the-hill forward duds on free transfers with just 2 year-deals.

Those of you referencing how good he's been in the past - King has lost a yard of pace since he was last good in the Prem. Muff fans don't think he's been the same player for the last two seasons.

I also hope he's going to be used more as a left-forward then as a CF, he didn't score a single goal in 724 minutes of league football last season and supposedly didn't even come close. Though he also didn't manage any assists either.

Whichever position we've signed him for, if he's going to be first-choice then I'm underwhelmed.

Poor signing but worth it just to annoy the local men down south

  34. Personally I like the work Giaretta is doing

Yes if we had a full bank account I'd love a shopping spree, but lets not forget all the horror stories of clubs down the years running up huge debts - Portsmouth, Sunderland etc. We are in a >£30M hole.

    I'd rather Watford be a bottom 3 PL than a potless L1

This is a terrible transfer window. Relegation beckons for the side we're building.
