GTA V Thread

I'm too poor to buy this right now. I hope everyone enjoys it though, looks bloody brilliant.

 

I haven't been keeping up to date with all the info about it but I plan to get it anyway, can anyone tell me what makes it so hyped about please?

 

Watching streams of it it looks good. Need to see what online is like to make a full judgement though. Doubt I'll get it though.

 

Most expensive game ever produced, I think that says enough about the hype it is recieving. Game play looks fluid and the detail within the game looks impressive, the only thing that worries me though is that it is just another Grand Theft Auto game. Mindless carjacking, shooting sprees and profanity.

Can't wait to get it.

Got it today and have been able to play for about an hour.

Not a massive fan of the driving but I'm sure I'll get used to it. The instructions are a bit too hard to read imo. Might just be my TV though.

The game world looks absolutely stunning.

 

Really enjoying it, especially the way heists are planned (haven't actually done it yet). On the other hand I've been eaten by a puma or something in the hills which was quite annoying.

The switching of characters thing is pretty cool too although not sure how well it ties in, or whether it is more gimmicky, as I'm not a huge way through the story yet. I assume it is going to be done fantastically.

Its also nice how you get to choose the story line to an extent.

 

yep played quite a bit of it.The writing in this game is incredible, already it has made me laugh many times, and the second paparazzi mission is hilarious.

btw is Michael's son voiced by Jonah Hill?

 

I don't think so although googling suggests otherwise. I did think of him when I saw the character and yes the voices are very similar. Something just sounds a bit... off, though, if that makes sense. I'm used to Jonah Hill exclaming things ridiculously quietly and quickly, which this guy just doesn't do.

I do think maybe he was used as a bit of inspiration though!

 

Hoping to get it sometime this week, to anyone who has it, how good is the online on it?

 

I heard the online isn't out till October?

 

I want this game, but I'll need to buy a console first.

Any suggestions of where I could pick up an XBox 360 (preferably) for a decent price would be appreciated!

 

Went and bought it today and cancelled my amazon order as they seemed to be taking their sweet time over doing anything about my order.

Played a couple of missions, and then just spent a couple of hours driving around exploring... without really meaning to. It just happened. I am far too easily distracted.

 

I'm furious. Pre-ordered it from shopto.net who are normally awesome with pre-orders. Find out yesterday from reading stuff online that there's an install disc, that you need to install 7.7GB of stuff of. My xbox is a really old one, with only 14GB of space on it. Only possible way of getting that much space is deleting pretty much everything (including the fiances Skyrim saves). So at 6PM yesterday, order a 8GB xbox flash drive from shopt. Realise it won't arrive in time for today so pay an extra £6 for DPD next day delivery....doesn't turn up and according to the parcel tracking it's "We have your parcel, and it's on its way to your local depot in Southall".

Brilliant. Considering if you order before 5pm from shopto they'll get it to you the next day via Royal Mail i'm slightly peeved...

Hate to tell you this but during the install I read the back of the box and it says minimum 16gb flash drive :s hope it works out.

 

Agreed, I think buying an 8gb drive for an 8gb install is just asking for tears

 

I'm actually saving my money to buy Watch Dogs instead of this game. However seeing most of my mates rave on and on about this game (not to mention people on here as well), plus seeing videos of the actual gameplay, I'm getting second thoughts.

By far the best GTA created, without a shadow of a doubt. I'll be honest in that I'm a bit unsure about how open the world is because I kinda like to do the storyline with a GTA game with a bit of dabbling in other things; because this game is so open, you'll have plenty to do after the storyline and knowing me I'll only do a bit of it before I go onto another game (eg FIFA or Watch Dogs). As such, I'm questioning that if I buy the game, will I be getting my full money's worth? Hopefully yes but I'm not sure.

 

I have pre-ordered the Xbox One. As such, I essentially have 2 months (two weeks of which I am on holiday), to get my money's worth out of a game. I vowed I wouldn't buy another game after I pre-ordered the new xbox earlier this year, but due to what GTA V looked like, I couldn't resist. As a big player of FIFA, and a bit of a 'deadline' being placed on playing this game, it's going to be interesting - but hopefully I can do my best to exhaust it by then... but after playing it yesterday, that seems like it may be an impossible task!

 

It won't be impossible............................................................................ if you ignore work, girls, WFC and food (and maybe sleep). Otherwise it's a tough ask. I saw a YouTube vid of the first 2 missions and I couldn't help but smile with such a huge grin at how brilliant the game is. There is really so much to do and looking at the above comments, everyone seems to think about playing it for an hour only to end up playing it for 3 at a time.

Rockstar really have outdone themselves big time.

 

Looks like Tesco in Westminster are selling it for £38... there goes my weekend.

 

The driving and crash mechanics are deeply flawed and a step back from GTA IV. However the rest of the game is fantastic. Michael shouldnt smoke pot.

 

£199.99 for a PS3/GTA bundle at Argos. I'd say that's fair. Now just to sit it out until payday...

Nisman, I would have checked back to this sooner, however as you said, I sat down to play it for an hour, and here I am 3 and a half hours later... still playing.

I'm not so sure. Thankfully it no longer feels like you're turning a boat when you're driving a sports car, and some of the damage is actually fairly realistic.

One car I crashed suffered an impact on the front left, to the point the tyre wouldn't turn as it had been pressed into the bodywork. Yet all 3 other tyres did. Whilst I persisted trying to drive this, said tyre then blew out and the car was left running on 3 tyres and 1 rim scraping along the floor.

I do however agree with you, Michael definitely shouldn't smoke pot.

 

Getting it on my birthday on Sunday. I'm only 17, but who cares?. Looks very good, and there is some excellent detail in the game.

Also, I've just seen a video of someone being eaten by a shark on GTA V. That's something I didn't expect to see.

 

Ahhhh I ****ing love this game, no spoilers but the yoga mission, WTF!!!!!

 

Aye saw that, instead just moved 8GB of stuff off the HDD to the flash drive, then installed to the HDD, problem solved!
