Deeney playing wide left or right is completely ineffective as has been proved when he played. Didn't work for Jurado but you seem to hate him for some reason.

The most disappointing thing about this is that some other poor sod will get loads of abuse from some of our so called fans

That nail on head thing. As far as Jurado is concerned, the science is settled.

Put him left wing back and he'll still give his all there. Jurado trotted around the pitch like he was God's gift.

What difference? The zero goals and zero assists from the middle too? He was sh*te and the main reason I'm happy he's gone is because 1) It clearly shows QSF favoured him which can't of been good for the dressing room and justifies his sacking even more tbh. & 2) So fans on here can stop making up rubbish to try and defend him

    Clearly wasn't my point.

Good players will still offer you something a few yards away from their normal position. He was always drifting in any way. There's no way he'd go from being as awful as he was out wide to suddenly being the player we wanted when playing in the middle.

There's no need to defend anything. The guy came over here, tried his best and now he's been sold. I don't know why you're getting your knickers in a twist, normal adults can just look at it and say it didn't work out for him here. But you've got absolutely no class have you, pathetic little boy.

I'm waiting for Highgrade's view on the subject. I want to check I'm right before I commit to either side of this debate.

"Might be the worst player I saw play in the Championship last season"

You said about someone who scored 22 goals last season. If I'm a pathetic little boy, you're definitely a senile old man.

A lot of positive arguments could be made for Jurado's performances for us but 'tried his best' is certainly not one of them.

You said he wouldn't be any better when clearly he would and I mentioned that if you put Deeney there he would also be ineffectual. Deeney is very different to almost anybody in the squad in respects of effort. Jurado had something but was too often wasted out wide. That part is not his fault. I'm sure you'll find somebody else to abuse this season

    Jurado?

I don't think he has something and that's my opinion based on seeing him at every home game last season. You think he does. Fair enough.

I never abused him at a game once so not sure why you confused not liking a player for abuse? Weird.

    Have a nice day.

As with all departures, you reserve full judgement until you see who replaces them.

Gut feeling is, with the names we are being linked with, we may step up and sign a better attacking midfielder.

Jurado was by no means as bad as some people would lead you to believe but equally for a number ten and more often as a wider player, his assists tally plus lack of goals was poor. And that's ultimately how a player like him will be judged.

Jurado was really no worse than Abdi last year, yet Abdi gets pass because of prior seasons.

Personally, I feel that both players suffered from the head coach's tactical approach. You don't attract the sort of fees Jurado has if you can't assist or score.

This thread has become embarrassing. A few posters in particular.

Clearly a gifted footballer, clearly wasn't suited to our system/the PL.

Played crap some weeks, played well other weeks. Bit like our other 'wide' players like Abdi, Capoue (when he was played out wide), Anya, Amrabat, Gueds, etc.

The fact we never really had anyone play successfully out wide last season suggests the problem was with the system, not the players.

2 assists over the course of a season is poor though and I don't think anyone will be losing sleep over him leaving.

I thought Jurado very decent, when played in his correct position. He ran the show in the first half against Man City and Chelsea at home.

He did fade in games though and is probably not the player to take us to the next level. His own comments on Twitter probably reflect that, by telling Watford to keep growing.

He came to the club, did a job, occasionally excelled, and gave us a veneer of quality.

Good player and I wish him all the best at his next club.

Abdi got 2 goals in 1,987 minutes

    Jurado got 0 in 2,027

Expectations and money spent were obviously higher for Jurado as well

And Jurado was unlucky not to score at least two, denied by the woodwork when they could easily have gone in. Fine margins. Additionally, one of Abdi's was a FK.

Neither player looked good last season, and that was down to QSF's tactical approach. Abdi is a far player than he was allowed to show last year, and I think Jurado probably is too (although exactly how much better is hard to say given last season is not much to go on).

In fact, every player that was on our flanks last season looked like utter ****e. That lends considerable weight to the idea that the tactical instructions were the problem.

IMO both player's talents were wasted playing wide but Abdi applied himself & adapted better than Jurado.

Wouldn't disagree with that, but my point is that if we'd have bought Abdi last year, no one would be happy with him either...or anyone else we played out wide. Bearing in mind we know Abdi is a much better player than he was allowed to show, it's not unlikely the others playing in a similar role weren't allowed to show their best face either.

Good riddance to the filthy ****. This just pips Deeney staying as the signing of the summer.
