Rudy Austin would be one for me, whether or not we go up. His contract at Leeds is expiring. He's 30 but I think he's still got some time left. One year contract with an option for a second, like Gomes has.
Would love Mowatt. Byram would be even better. Byram would be the perfect signing to signal our intent, same age as Nathaniel Clyne was when he joined Southampton. If he got a move to a progressive Premier League side, he'd be worth £15-20mil in about three or four years.
Seen our team sheet for next year 1) Scott Loach 2) Phil Neville 3) John Terry 4) McNulty 5) Steven Hunt 6) Thorne 7) Lloyd Dyer 8) McBoo 9) Matt Ritchie 10) Dominic Poleon 11) Antony Knockeart
Feel free to build on that. That goes to Hornet23, too, who felt it appropriate to dislike the post without feeling it necessary to explain why. As I've said before, that 'feature' really is terrible for promoting discussion.
I don't see Pozzo breaking the core business model, or paying inflated wages for proven prem players already on £50-£100k a week Can see us trying to buy Aidy Guediora, plus 1 x centre back, 1 x left back / left wing back, 1 x centre mid on top of Aidy If we could pick up Chalobah cheap I think it worth investing some coaching time to knock out the last 2 years of hoof 442 and get him back to where he was
He's ****e. Barely good enough for Leeds and won't be improving anytime soon. Tries hard enough but gets suspended quite often and I think he'd struggle in a passing side.
this thing about not having this or that player because his wages will be 10. 15. 25 or 40k a week is rubbish I doubt that Tozser, Abdi, Layon, Deeney, Vydra, Watson and a handfull of others are already in ht e£20k a week plus bracket
There's a fair difference between £10k and £40k! You've probably seen the list of Serie A salaries that has been posted a few times which shows that the Pozzos don't pay high wages. They pay a relatively low wage and rely on players believing that a move to their team is the best for their long-term prospects. If they're going to begin paying higher wages (which I don't doubt they'll do if we get the Premier League riches), I think we can be fairly certain that they won't be doing so for ageing players who have been little better than average in the Premier League. Paying Deeney or Abdi £20k a week to stay as the best players at the club and earn us £100mil is nothing like paying Rickie Lambert or Alan Hutton double that amount to barely improve on what we already have for a year. If we're going to start paying wages in the region of £40k, I'd be surprised if the Pozzos didn't decide to spend that on younger players with room to improve and earn future transfer fees.
Ahead of myself here, but if we went up, Arter, Bamford, Wilson, Ayala, Ince, Gueirdiora, Ritchie, Afobe, Chalobah, Martin may be worth an enquiry at least.
I think we'd be in a position to sign some quality players, look at the players we've got who have been attracted by Championship football. Who knows what players would want to come to us to play Premier League football. I bet the owners have already spoken to some Udinese players about it. Not saying those players listed aren't good, some of them could be useful if we go up. I can't see us just signing some of the best players from the Championship should we be promoted though.
So, seeing as we already have most of the 25 x over 21's that we would be permitted in the Premier League, who are we getting shot of to accommodate all these new players?
To confirm I wouldn't sign all these players, if we wanted Bamford and got him you would write off Wilson, Afobe, Ritchie and Ince. Imo that list of players are all too good for the championship, I figured this list was about realistic signings, not Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez or Angel Di Maria.
You lot have lost the plot. We will get some good players we've never heard of any maybe a couple of English ones to make up the quota, which is exactly how it's worked the last couple of years.
How long has Rooney got on his contract? Anyone know? van Persie is free at the end of this season too right?
I'd take Wilson from Hearts. He's activated a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for free this summer. Didn't make it at Liverpool but has been very impressive for Hearts and I think he'd be good at this level. http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/32371640
Liverpool's Brad Smith could be one of them. Was recalled earlier on in the season from a loan at Swindon over contract issues and was told he couldn't go back until he signed a new deal. Can play at LB and LWB. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brad_Smith_(footballer,_born_1994) There's some decent players playing in League 1 and League 2 that I wouldn't mind: Ryan Woods Jed Wallace Rhys Bennett Diego De Girolamo (One for Udinese possibly) Daniel Bentley Massimo Luongo Players like Darren Randolph, Adam Bogdan, Ali Al-Habsi and Brede Hangeland wouldn't be bad freebies. I also think Badu will finally join us in the summer.
We weren't in the PL for the last couple of years though. Personally I've never supported Watford in the PL with the Pozzos as owners so I dunno what will happen
