Just for a bit of fun. Who would you realistically like us to sign next season, both if we were to go up or stay down? My first one would be - obvious as it is - Guedioura, regardless of what division we're in. Don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that we could sign him permanently even if we're not in the Premier League next season.
Lionel Messi. Now before you all say it's unrealistic etc etc etc. He's young and could be attracted by Premiership football http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...s-player-has-same-name-as-Barcelona-star.html
If in the Premier League I wouldn't mind seeing Udinese's Luis Muriel here. Heard he's gone off track at the moment, was at one point one of the hottest youngsters in the world. Would still welcome him though, mainly because of his goals for me on FM Gabriel Torje, Roberto Pereyra, Allan and Heurtaux are Udinese players I'd like us to sign. Vydra obviously, would be nice to know he's a permanent Watford player. Out of the teams I think will be relegated I would be happy with the signings of: Diame (Hull) Trippier (Burnley) And from the Championship: Sakho who will be out of contract (Wolves) Dunk (Brighton) Mings (Ipswich) I don't even want to think about not being in the Prem next year.
Widmer - From Udinese (if Prem) Allan - From Udinese (if Prem) Vydra - From Udinese Guedioura - From Palace Adama Traore - From Barcelona (if Prem) Not a lot really needs changing with our side at present, and i'd keep it cheap just in-case things go south.
Oh complete tear down. New defence. New kitchen and hallway. Knock the asbestos garage down and build a conservatory. The whole lot.
Muriel + Pereyra are pretty much not available as they're on loan with an "option to buy", which is pretty much a gentlemans agreement that they'll sign them permanently.
If we got promoted we would need a good 6 or 7 players across the squad to stay up in the Premiership and probably need the same amount should we fail to go up - especially with players leaving over the Summer. I would say names but I don't really know who Udinese actually have in their academy/bench/reserves etc.
I suspect we will at least be having a sniff around Zack Clough because he was brought up by the panel, with clear admiration, without asking at the "at your place" do in London. He's been injured for a while (shoulder) hopefully keeping him under the radar if we are thinking of going in for him. IMO he would be a quality acquisition; yet to really prove himself, but seriously promising a big money return on whatever is paid for him. Three years with us, then Kerching.
Tom Cleverley is out of contract at Man Utd this summer, might be worth a shout if we do go up. I imagine we'd have to pay him a pretty penny but I couldn't see his wages being astronomical considering his lack of career advancement in the past season or so. Still a talented, hard working player and would help towards the British players quota. Edit: I've just seen an article linking him to Arsenal, Spurs or possibly even staying on at Man Utd. Maybe not then...
Apparently he has offers from four European clubs. I wouldn't be surprised if Udinese were one of them; if we go up, he then moves to us. If we don't, he stays there. He's 25 too, so we'd avoid the claims that we only did that to avoid paying compensation to Man Utd.
I'd want Bergomi, Wooter, Des Lyttle, Mark Williams and Xavier Gravelaine if available.
Ricky Lambert - experienced premiership forward Rob Green - Experienced Premiership and England squad keeper Cambiasso - Experienced Premiership player Hutton - Intentional & experienced, left footed Wilson - Quick can score and wants to prove himself All could fit into the current squad and make it better
It's always wild guessing to foresee Pozzo's transfer targets. Even more so not knowing yet in which league Watford and Granada will be next year. Anyway, a few possibilites: If Granada goes down probably several of its best players "almost" ready to be sold for a good sum after the usual 3 seasons under Pozzo (1-2 made already) and too good for Liga-2 might be moved to Watford for a better "shopping window" (be it Championship or PL). Some possible names: Nyom, Foulquier, El Arabi. The new Granada might try refoundation based on young players like Cordoba or Success. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/granada-cf/startseite/verein/16795 New signings from abroad: there will be some other signings of "never-heard-before" but decent and experienced players like Paredes or Layun. Udinese's young team has currently more very promising young players than could possibly join first team next year. A couple of them might go to Granada new "young" team if Granada is relegated or to WFC if Watford stays in Championship. Udinese has a lot of good players out on loan. Particularly if Watford goes up some might be deemed useful. A couple of loaned players might be difficult to deal: Nico Lopez at Verona has a particularly nasty agent who strongly willed his protect there. Edenilson at Genoa has declared in interviews he'd like to stay there. Those two might be really useful at Udinese next year but if difficult to convince to come back they might become "bad deals" like it was with Muriel gone to Sampdoria for much less than expected. Maybe an "OK, you woudln't like to come back to Udine? What about Premier league football then?" might work. Other good names among our on loan players might be Brkic and Zielinski. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/udinese-calcio/leihspieler/verein/410 Finally, obviously some players covering the home-grown rule. DO NOT expect ANYONE who might require excessive wages. The scouts will probably find some good ones among free agents, or good players with potential to be better but currently overlooked, or former promising players with career broken by injuries willing for a new good chance, or players from relegated teams accepting a "decent" wage as long as they can again play in Premier. In short, anyone with good potential but not too expensive either in transfer fee or in wages.
Staying down - Success in from Granada to replace the three departing strikers. Connolly in to replace departing Angela. Perhaps try to get Zielinski to replace departing Abdi. We will also need a new keeper as Gomes will move to a top flight club abroad, he is too good for the Championship so perhaps one from the Udinese stable there. Someone like Bryan Ruiz on a free from Fulham may be an ideal Pozzo risk as he has potential resale value and knows the league (not my choice though!) If we went up. Mings is the best defender I have seen at the Vic this season. Could play the left side of a back 3 or left wing back. I also reckon we have done 'Brum a favour in loaning them two players for a reason and that Demarai Gray will come to us. Vydra will sign permanently.
