We got foster and Dawson, why don’t we get the other three defenders that got WBA relegated and we’ll have the complete set?!

Well the answers to the recruitment questions last time round at the ‘At Your Place’ event resulted in Craig Dawson, despite what we were told (I was there). So whatever is said, I’d take with a heavy hint of ‘bullsh*t’.

I don't care if this upsets Deeney or any other player, but the players are not working hard enough. They do not close down, track runs or show that desire to not get beaten. It just doesn't exist. What we have is a team that will happily take a win if their quality overrides the opposition, but if they have to work hard for it, they're not interested.

It's a cancer that's been creeping over the squad for a long time now. It doesn't hurt them enough to lose.

I agree....'At Your Place' would be very interesting, but I'd very much doubt they'd decide to put one on as things currently stand.

I'm now convinced Foster is part of the problem too.
New keeper, new back 4; wingers that can cross and a manager to fire the team up to avert a relegation and we're sorted....

What is Sarr's natural position? Never seen him play before he joined us. He seems to be a bit lost on the wing.

I think for Rennes he played on the left and cut-inside.

I would agree we need to do something, but too often January signings are disappointing, and nobody of any note will want to join a bottom of the table side. We may get one or maximum two defenders, who could improve us, but how long will they take to blend into the team? I laughed when Villa paid £25m for Mings, but that is the kind of money we would need to spend. I think we have to make the best of what we have. Despite the glaring weaknesses, I still think we have enough quality, and QSF will get us better organised. But where has that team spirit gone, and we lack grit for a team at the bottom. Deeney may play a part, but he needs to be at his top level fully match fit, otherwise I wouldn’t put him within a country mile of the team.

All this talk of doing this and that in January is already getting old. First off Gino won’t spend over inflated prices in Jan and second players that we need won’t want to come if we’re in a fight at the bottom of league. Defence should of been improved in summer in wasn’t now we have to figure it out with what we’ve got. Why’s kaba not getting picked over Dawson ( not that Dawson done much wrong today, never done much right either)

But talk of a new manager after 3 games, tough games as well, is ridiculous. I would hope nobody on here wishes us to fail but you do mention the I don’t want Flores a lot

    I've thought of some positives!

Welbeck was only fed scraps but his movement was good and didn't really do anything wrong.

Pereyra looked decent again. Needs to get in more dangerous areas but he took people on and gave us a lift in the second half. He'll be on the bench next weekend.

    The away kit looked good.

    That's it.

The main negative for me today is Quique looks much worse after his haircut. I've gone off him now.

We've never been in this position before though. We've never even been in the bottom three in four seasons. The owners got complacent in thinking they knew best and that this type of thing could not happen to us.

Well it can and it has.

I think they will have an emergency fund and targets lined up, which they will only invoke if there is a bit of a crisis.

I never thought we'd spend £40m on a player, but did. This season has seen us do a few unusual things, so it wouldn't surprise me if they went all in in January. They do not have the luxury to do things when it suits them, and pinch a bargain when no ones looking. They either spend big in order to sort out the defence or it's relegation. What we have right now, will not keep us up. I think any notion we might get away with it, is well and truly over now.

I think we have to pull semi-clear of the relegation zone to get any kind of quality interested in joining. We got Deulofeu in January so it can be done - but being in the bottom 3 would make it extremely difficult. Players would want to know they stand a reasonable to good chance of still being in the PL the following season.

Euros in the summer so we may be able to get some decent players looking for some football before the end of the season. Even if they're just on loan.

The thing that concerns me the most is that it does not seem like the players fully appreciate the position we are in here. We are sleep walking towards relegation, and the players can't get their head around the fact that we COULD go down, its almost like they think they are too good for that to happen?

Just look at today, nobody taking responsibility, no urgency at 2-0 down, slow laboured passes and some players walking rather than running.

Their attitude needs change ASAP. Fans will stop bothering if the players stop.

Worrying times, I honestly cant see us beating Sheff Utd next week. They're a team, we aren't.

You have to look at it from Gino's POV. What is he likely to do if there is absolutely no improvement? You know he will change it. It's always worked before and he doesn't care at how it looks to the outside world.

Before sacking Gracia, they looked around and thought, who is available......QSF. Fans like him, he knows the club and he did well when he first came to the club...….I think they convince themselves that the reasons why it went wrong the last time, wouldn't happen this time.

Unless we are more severely broken than anyone could possibly have thought, then he's not really improving things. We are not competitive. Yes, City was a hard game, but to lose 8-0 and get off lightly......that's totally unacceptable. A beaten attitude shown at Wolves today. It had relegation stamped all over it.

Bad results are one thing, but there HAS TO BE an upturn in performances. A new boss usually gets this, just because he's new. That's not happening. I don't think he'd be sacked this week, but if we play like we did today next week, with the side unwilling to fight, then what's the point in having him? He's got to get them fighting. He has to create this mentality and he's got to do it quickly.

We're already running out of time to turn this around. After the Sheff U game, we've got Spurs away, then that will be a quarter of a season gone already.

Get that Korean guy in in January and add Todibo on loan. Source a couple full-backs and dump the lot we have. Add Joao Pedro and if we are in touch with the other clubs at the bottom, I’d give us a decent chance.

Should be do-able. But I firmly expect the status-quo to be kept, Janmaat, Kiko and Holebas to get extensions and us to be adrift.

Gomes, Foster, Janmaat and Holebas deals simply have to be allowed to run out. Some
Sort of rebuild has to be seen to be taking place.

I would think loan players are most likely who are not getting a game with their current team. I would be surprised if we have a pot of money to spend.

Last thing I’ll say on things tonight unless I have replies to give - but we absolutely must find a way to get Quina into the side. A young, energetic player who wants to make things happen and isn’t scared to get on the ball. We can’t sideline players with those qualities in the situation we are in.

I think Doucoure or Capoue need to be dropped. I see a lot of criticism being given to Doucoure rightfully - but Capoue’s standards have dropped way-off as well. Chalobah should be given a game over one of them against Sheffield United.

And Kabasele needs to come in for either Dawson or Cathcart. They aren’t a pairing. They are too similar and it doesn’t work. I’d like to see Bachmann/Dahlberg too but I know that won’t happen. But the time for changes has come. Attitudes aren’t changing so personnel has to.

He started on the right of the front two and IMO, was naive and lightweight, getting owned by the Wolves defenders who are units and shrugged him off. He needs games to get the feel of Premier League football. Also he couldn’t use his speed as wolves were sitting back deep, playing rope a dope and hitting us on the break. This meant Sarr had no space to run into. Even if in the first half any of the midfield could pick a pass. And Deulofeu was Deulofeu and playing for himself, his agent and showreel and getting nothing to anybody else. That Sarr can’t talk English to Welbeck or Cleverley (or Gray) or Spanish to Deulofeu and Peyrera must be an issue as they can’t put him right. Welbeck swapped positions with Sarr midway thru the first half - seemingly taking responsibility to get one over on the defender who had Sarr for breakfast before that.
Their partnership is promising but needs game time to develop. And a less physical defence or a team that doesn’t defend so deep. and his first touch isn’t that great.

When was the last time a Watford side with expectation actually performed?

    This season = *****.
    2013/14 = *****.
    2006/7 = *****.

Makes me dread next season as well, when we inevitably do go down...!

I think that's unfair. I was the first to turn on Quique in his first term, but he had done what we asked for. He's started Sarr and Welbeck. He's dropped Kiko.

He's only got the cards he has got. These "younger players" simply don't exist. We have a rotten squad of itinerant mercenaries. That's on Gino. Quique is not the problem at the moment.

His lack of touch was the most concerning thing for me. A few times under little immediate pressure the ball just bounced off him. The rest of the things you mention reflect the situation of the games, the opponent and their tactics. There should be times he can prosper. But not if he looks so dopey and can't take the ball in his stride and use the pace he clearly has.

I’ve seen enough of him to say he’s raw but has potential. But whoever sanctioned committing £40m on getting him here, should be sectioned.

Ok, sorry Gino, as I know that was you, but your trust is being misplaced in your advisors.

To invest that much on a raw product, when the defence needed serious investment, shows the club has lost the plot.

To make decent money on Sarr he’s got to turn into a £60m player. Maybe he will make it, but he has a long way to go. We paid miles over the odds, that very clear.
