Leicester won the league with an average 30% possession stat. It means nothing.

The game was finely balanced because the score was 0-0 when the penalty incident occurred.

Yeah but the 3-0 is the thing. Most would agree that it was harsh and unlucky. We had a couple of chances and up until they scored, it was even Stevens.

There were quite a few in the Family Stand. I've found that fans of northern clubs seem to be there to watch the game but London club fans usually gloat and look to cause trouble.

There was a bloke with a Kosovo flag and another with an Albania flag near me who must have been there to support Swiss player Shaqiri. Stood there holding their flags up for ages, which nearly made me give then the 3 fingered Serb salute, but I thought better of it.

Exactly. Liverpool were better team clearly but at the time of the penalty incident the game could have gone either way. Score that and it changes everything.

I've no problem with infiltrators who show common sense. We've all done it.

It's the ******* getting up in your face when they score that need decking.

Agree moog. Slightly the better team I think until that penalty decision. I hate blaming the refs and that’s one of the things I admire about Javi. But Moss is a useless fat **** and hornet boys right with a lot he has said about these refs. That’s 3 clear pens Fulham Southampton where the end result would of been different and today we would of found out what Liverpool are made of. VAR can only be a good thing for us so called smaller teams.

Apart from the fact that Southampton had a perfectly good goal disallowed, yes.

For over an hour that was a thoroughly absorbing match and if we’d been given a penalty when Hughes appeared to be tripped (and scored from it) the final outcome would have been very different.

Of course, Moss was awful: how the self-proclaimed Best League in the World allows this wobbly-gutted old fool anywhere near its product is beyond me.

And good to see the Scousers have a new grievance to cling to - unfurling banners to deride Richard Scudamore’s ‘greed’ for accepting a £5m golden handshake from his employers on the day that their club announced it would paying one of its staff (Sadio Mane) nearly 8m a year for the next 5 years showed an impressive lack of self awareness even by their standards

Well we did take one chance - quite nicely too but that was offside.

    Presume that was correct?

Klopp was appealing for a penalty when Mane went down under a Cathcart tackle in the 1st half - wonder if that played on the ref's mind for the Hughes incident.

He wasn't booked for diving so not sure what Moss thought had happened - slipped over?

Finally balanced as to when Liverpool would score and who'd score it.

  14. My professional analysis of the game.

First half - we pressed them, looked good, made a couple of critical errors that could have resulted in a goal but got let off. Should have scored a couple too. Draw a fair first half score.

Second half - Liverpool settled down and played with a swagger and style of a team who knew no matter they what they did the referee was literally going to give them anything and us nothing. Referee proceeded to give them everything and literally us nothing, bar a token sending off once the game was over.

At one point I did think I was watching a FIFA 2018 game where Liverpool had a cheat code.

Well except if we’d been awarded a penalty at nil nil. I presume even they most pessimistic would not have made Liverpool first goal scorer the jolly in the market at that point.

I think it was when we drew 1-1 in the Boothroyd premier league season against West Ham and some skinhead "hammer" cheered, turned round and starting giving it large in the middle of the Rookery. I normally have the sporting ability of Stephen Hawking, but I managed to hit him right on the cheek with half a pie from about 30 feet. A beautiful moment made better as his face slightly changed and you could see his Essex brain suddenly question the wisdom of his cockney geezer performance.

I quite enjoyed that considering we got done 3-o. A very even game until the first goal, and then a hugely flattering scoreline to Liverpool. For a team that had conceded the lowest number of goals at this stage of the season we looked like we open them up fairly easily, and aside from a dodgy decision from the tubby hitler in the middle we would have done. The number of important decisions that this idiot is getting wrong in our matches would be comical if it were happening to anyone else, sadly it isn't.

Not only a penalty, but I suggest it should have been a red. But Moss is not one to give a penalty and red card for the same incident is he!!

Yet this will be forgotten in the hugely Mo Salah, Bobby firminho Sadio mane triumverate of amazingness. Liverpool were patient etc etc, f*ck the little team and them being screwed over by the fatso in the middle. The joke is wearing thin now Moss

I'll wait to see it again on MOTD in better quality but on a slightly ropey stream it didn't look there was much contact. Certainly never a red card.

This may help you. Clear contact made, never going for the ball. Stone wall penalty and a possible red card. Put it this way, had we done this to a Liverpool player I would 100% expect a penalty and a red all day long.

The fat ******* isn't anywhere close enough to observe the incident and may have his view obscured. Nonetheless the useless tosser of a linesman ought to intervene then. The fat ******* needs to be roasted tonight on MOTD and demoted. He is not even fit enough to keep up when a crucial decision demands it. Gino should tell the PL we don't want this ***** refereeing any of our matches in future. An utter winker and hijo de puta.

Thanks but not really. Awful angle to judge it from. If the 'contact' is supposed to be proven by the movement in Hughes' left knee, it coincides with his own foot striking the ground.

Not wishing to defend Moss (I think he is the worst PL official by some margin) but from this image there is a chance he was unsighted when the incident occurred. I am sure the GT side lino would have had a good view - but all the officials had a poor afternoon.......

The sad thing is, most of us KNEW this would happen before the match that we'd all be talking about how bad Jon Moss is and his bad decisions. I don't even get slaughtered about this anymore, as I believe most accept there is a problem with officiating in England.

I know you like to play Devil's Advocate a lot, but I think 99% of people at the game saw it as a penalty. It's a shame that the 1% that didn't was the referee and his assistant.

It's a clear penalty. Contact was made. That other useless ***** Dunderson was in the way but this still reflects appallingly on the so called elite team of referees. One the linesman did not have the intelligence to call out the offence. And it shows the fat ******* is clearly not good enough to be a PL referee. The best referees are always in the near vicinity of an incident not lagging yards behind. It does not surprise me one iota that FIFA did not call any English referees to the World Cup. Gino needs to put in an official complaint. We don't want this ******* ruining any more of our games this season thank you.

You can see how bad his positioning is. He’s not keeping up with play and can’tsee the challenge because his vision is obscured by Henderson.

I'm not being contrary for the sake of it. There seems to be split opinion on social media and I'm genuinely waiting to see a decent replay. It's certainly the type of tackle you see penalties given for all the time. No argument from me there. But so far I don't think there was much contact, if any, and Hughes' fall was quite theatrical.
