Indeed. '**** you' Guedioura plays a 60 yard pass to Deeney, Doucoure is covered by defenders and the next person to join the support? Guedioura.

    **** you Gueds!

For a start he needs to speak English, how can you motivate players in the English Premier League when you can't speak the language, is it any wonder we are questioning commitment!

I agree. Not only for the above reason though, but also that until Mazzarri is able to conduct interviews in English, there will always be a barrier between him and the fans.

Flores couldn't speak English, other than to call everything amazing. I'd have much rather he used a translator. I think the bigger barrier is that win, draw, or lose, lose, lose Wally scuttles off down the tunnel without acknowledging the fans at all.

We lost today and he clapped the fans and waved. Not saying he's ever done this before necessarily but just thought you should know.

Fair enough, although at Stoke he could hardly avoid it as the away fans are literally next to the tunnel.

I mentioned this a while ago. There is very little connection between fans and the club as a whole right now. Or rather the gap is as big as it's ever been under the Pozzo's.

I think at the players we have now, and only a handful seem to really bother with the fans. Gone are the days of Fessi, Abdi, Angella, Ekstrand, Vydra, Anya etc. There seemed to be a togetherness back then. Now there seems to be a barrier.

Sannino went out of his way to praise the fans. Same as Flores, Joka & Zola. I've only heard Mazzarri speak to the fans once in English and that was on Hornet Player when he first came. Since then it's only press interviews. Not even a Merry Christmas or Happy New Year message from the head coach. I think that it's poor that he does so little in this area. "Happy New Year Watford fans".....is not a difficult phrase to master.

He doesn't mention the support or acknowledge it too much. He may not think it's important and may just take it for granted. That's tolerated when you are winning, but when it goes wrong you need to build friends.

Apart from his antics on the touchline, it's very hard to like the guy.

We hear very little from Gino, but he does his talking in a different way. His talking is by actions and this is accepted by everyone and is not a problem, but when the coach is extremely remote it filters down right through the club.

Right now, is probably without doubt the worst feeling I've had towards the club since the Pozzo takeover. So many things seem wrong that it appears quite overwhelming.

How many English players were in the starting lineup tonight? Do you think Mark Hughes has learned German so he can communicate with Arnautovic? Or Spanish so he can speak to Muniesa? Or French for Bony?

There are a lot of issues at the moment with Mazzarri's management, but his limited grasp of English isn't one of them and I'm sick of hearing about it over and over again.

Well the players looked clueless tonight so if his communication is OK then his tactics are ****e which is more worrying imho.

  10. Ooh dear.

Frankly, bugger you lot. As long as we don't let people being so negative about the club's situation allow support to turn against the club, we'll be alright. Fair enough, there are problems, but you lot wouldn't see a positive if it jumped up and down on your faces, pulled its pants down and farted up your nose. You only see negative, and right now, many of you seem to only generate negativity. Thankfully this forum has always been a place for the extreme views, and the most emotional views and does not represent general fandom.

That performance tonight wasn't so bad at all. I don't care what you consider your high standards to be, if we won the games either side of that with a full squad available, we'd be saying it was a bit unlucky. As it goes, given the last couple of matches, and the situation as it is, that was a marked improvement, and I don't think I could point out a single player that wasn't playing to a reasonable level. If you mistake a lack of form or quality as a lack of commitment, that is your problem. Not every player is a Tommy Mooney.

We now have a squad where all players have some game time under their belts, we have support players who are starting to get their eye in, and we'll play worse than that, and probably already have, and win.

Crap score, but encouraging display in relation to the negativity from some on this forum over the last few weeks.

    Come on you 'Orns!

2 shots on target? Not bad at all?
An injured player forced to play, who has risked making the injury worse.
The coach happy in the knowledge that he's safe for 3 years.
Did I watch a diffrent game?

If you're happy with that then please put me in touch with your dealer because he's obviously given you some good **** there.

JB you missed the point, although most of our players aren't English, the majority of them can put words together and speak it!

And how do we know Mazzarri can't? In the interviews you can tell that he knows what is roughly being asked before it is translated for him. There's a difference between being able to speak the language and being comfortable enough to speak unaided to the British media, who are notorious for twisting the words of players and managers.

  15. I am happy that the performance tonight has been an improvement on the last couple of games, and it was done in less than ideal circumstances.

If you didn't see that, then I suggest you are allowing your emotions to influence your logic.

It is your negativity (not you alone) that I am highlighting, not how good we are.

  16. I am just glad that there are a few of us thinking the same way.

Cheers for the backing GD. Together we can turn this negativity around mate.

Even a slightly better performance won't be enough. When you can't get the basics right over a number of games then it should be lights out for Walter's reign. Man management of players has been woeful too.

Last night was much better (couldn't be worse).

I saw every Watford player giving everything, we created a couple of chances before stoke scored and I saw mazzari doing his nut that we made 2 defensive errors - which for me shows that he's been highlighting defending in training and is upset the players messed up.

if we continue with the effort and application we will be fine, especially with injury returnees.

Agree with your 2nd point though.

    How can you tell this?

I'm going to weigh in here. I taught English as a foreign language for 3 years, and I'm convinced that Mazzarri has little to no idea what's being asked in interviews before the translator asks.

I'm not sure he could. He just smiled a lot and spoke in something resembling English with such a thick a Spanish accent it was barely understandable. I gave up trying to listen to him about this time last year and reverted to written accounts instead. Which is of course what I have to do with Wally too.

However much the performance improved from Spurs, we lost 2-0 against a team that had less points from their last 5 games than us due to yet more comical defending, if you think it's a positive that it wasn't as bad as Spurs then I want some of what you're smoking.

And you can't think of a single player that didn't play to a reasonable level? You are aware Capoue was on the pitch yesterday? Tell me one thing he contributed?

Think the people jumping on HB1's back are a little out of order; for my money he makes some fair and valid points.

We must get rid of Walter before the Middlesbrough game. We cannot afford any more points to be wasted or give cup with more spineless, tactically inept performances. Get a new man in and give him this small break to assess the squad and see how much surgery is needed.

Could not attend the game due to shift work. Watched the Bournemouth game and a few things stood out. 1. an English coach.2. A core of young British players who have all improved under Eddie Howe. 3. A fantastic work ethic and team spirit. 4. Ooodles of pace in the side.
I wish I was describing the Hornets but we are a million miles away from them and are hurtling towards the relegation zone and I fear we will end up in trouble. I have said all along our midfield is not good enough. I fear will we be undone by Boro at the Vic because they are better away from home and play a fast counter attacking style. Although they are prolific goalscorers I can see them nicking it 0-1. We were 16/1 to be relegated before the Spurs game and are now about 5/1. We desperately need a good transfer window.

I think I'd stick with Mazzari though I'm fickle and think if Mancini was available and willing to come then I'd be very tempted to go for him.

I do think Walt has been very unlucky but also don't think he's helped himself, I don't think it takes too much to win fans over early on bit of interaction, waving etc.

I think the main thing to remember if the Pozzos lose out more than anyone with bad choices and relegation so you can gurantee Gino will act swiftly to protect his interests if need be.

We are in a rut and some of the negative points being made are valid. But I don't think getting rid of Mazzarri is the right move. I feel like, as a club, we need to move through adversity here without making big changes to the coaching structure. A new guy taking charge with a new back room staff in parts at least when this current mob are just getting used to things here? I could understand that if the situation looked truly dire, but I don't think this is one of those situations.

With a new head coach our most influential players out injured aren't going to become fit all of a sudden. These players need this experience. They need to come together and get through this. They need to come out the other side as a group, stronger for it.

I remember saying similar things under Zola, but things didn't improve and he was binned. This doesn't change my view. Sometimes you need to suffer together and experience these lows in order to get better. I worry that the way our club is set up this is simply not a possibility - and for fairly good reason I suppose. if it goes belly up we're relegated at the end of the day. I personally just wouldn't try to address the problem at this stage with such a drastic move, that's all.

I was saying this last night. Despite hating Flores' footballing philosophy, there's no denying that the club had a togetherness that has now been allowed to wither. Even Troy seems remote from us these days, and I find myself wondering if that's the way Walter wants it. Maybe he believes, for whatever reason, that a certain insulation between the players and the fans takes pressure off them?

Blame for me lies in the failed summer transfer window. Being left with Parades and to a lesser extent Dacoure can't be good for moral.

Performances have been mostly wretched yet we were picking up wins when we had to.

I agree it's hard to feel a connect with Mazarri, I still think we should stay up but we need some fundamental changes.

This feels like the second Zola season when the scattergun approach backfired and Gino temporarily took his eye off the ball - i.e. thinking we'd already made it

Been said a million times, but feel I need to say it again (to make me feel better) 3 at the back doesnt work. That is the start of all our issues. Time and again teams get the ball out wide and exploit the space. Doesnt help that Holebas fancies himself as a bit of a player further up the pitch. What I have also noticed is that we never seem to be running, its like the players are running through treacle.
The issues with 3 at the back are the same as when Zola tried it. We dont work hard enough to stop the cross and dont defend the cross well at all. Which doesnt bode well for Boro who get the ball to the wide players and are now signing Gestede as someone to aim at.
last night was better in terms of effort and application but lets be honest that wasnt hard after the Spurs game. Stoke werent great but twice now we have made them look good.
We now have a big 10 days to get players fit and bring in 1 or 2.
Think we are stuck with Walter for a while yet, sadly. We can write the cup game off as we just dont have anyone fit and it is stupid to risk anyone who isnt 100%.

That Boro game is huge for us. a defeat will really have us in a relegation fight and a harder sell to new players.

    Also:

Mazzarri's lack of English doesn't bother me in and of itself. In fact, I actually quite like the fact that we have the outward appearance of just not caring about the norms of the media and so on by having a guy and a translator. It means that the standard dull pre- (in particular) and post-match interviews (whose sole purpose for the national press is to get a pithy ten-word sentence) take twice as long as usual, and when you have a live game on Sky it's a bit of a dance. It's kind of refreshing.

BUT, wasn't Mazzarri supposed to be learning English for 18 months living in Manchester? Even if it was 6 months I don't know what he was doing, and the fact he has such a minor grasp of the language doesn't reflect well on him.

AND Ducbury has said at least once that the club would never again recruit a head coach that couldn't speak English after Beppe Sannino.

These are points that are often repeated but are totally right to be repeated.

For me, the hugely disappointing thing is this. Mazzarri wasn't some random appointment and he's certainly not a coach without a decent CV. The Pozzos have coveted him for yesrs, both in Italy and now here. He's won the Italian Cup, finished 2nd and 3rd in their league, managed in the Champions League and won promotion. He even kept a side up with a huge points deduction. In other words, a very decent coaching history. And yet under him we cannot defend. And now we cannot score goals either. Whatever excuses are put forward, he has disappointed so far compared to the expectation he arrived with.

Today we are expected to at least be happy his side competed last night and didn't throw the towel in. Come again????!!!

To say that it doesn't stick up front because Deeney wins headers is ridiculous. I would win most headers with my height but I couldn't play in the premier league. Watch someone like Benteke who actually holds the ball up. Deeney is nothing more than a Championship player, all he offers is winning some headers, add onto that he can barely even aim them.

Zonal marking is terrible I agree.

If he is to go - this will be the day it happens. Ten days to a critical 6 pointer home game, time to get new coach working with the players (it takes time to settle in - caution warning look at Allardyce three games and just 1 point after ten days)
A game we should win for a caretaker on Saturday - If they wait beyond Middlesbrough it won't happen. If nothing else we know from their time at other clubs they know when to let someone go!

Since Xmas 2015 Watford have picked up 39 out of a possible 123 points. That's relegation form

I would have thought that the Pozzos would want more for their reported 130m (96m net) spend
