i dont think the manager should be sacked yet give him time to get some players in but i do believe something is seriously wrong with how he trains or warms up the players, too many players getting injured.

As usual, there's a danger of opinions being presented here as facts! (In my opinion of course lol)

We don't need 6 more wins to be safe. Nobody knows what the number of points needed to be safe will be. It could be 36-38 points, in which case we need 14-16 more points in the second half of the season. That could be 4 wins and a few draws. If the magical 40 point tally is the goal, we need 18 points. Yes, that is the equivalent of 6 wins but it discounts draws.

I also read that if we lose the next two matches, our Head Coach is 'almost certain to be fired!' Come again? I'm sure several of us would wish him to be, but where is there any signal from our owners that this would happen?

This has been a very good thread to read, and all of us, me including, have expressed our opinions about our current malaise. But 'opinions' is the key word. That's all we are expressing. Those shouldn't be confused with facts about the future.

Could be available again soon... :naughty:

  4. Starting to get it now.

You are not talking about standards here at all, as none of the commitment or effort you are demanding is put upon yourself. What you are describing is expectation of everybody else based on an entitlement due to the reasons given in your second para above, and you consider excuses, like an ongoing injury crisis, to be unacceptable.

Standards are what you set for yourself. Desiring high standards from others is expectancy, demanding them is entitlement, and demanding them in diminished circumstances is a bit unfair in my honest opinion.

  5. To be fair, I think the implication is that with what we know about the Pozzos, this could be the case, but I agree with you that it seems unlikely at the moment.

One thing I think that only a few people have picked up on, which I think is a huge factor in how Gino will deal with the matter, are the circumstances we would be left in should they ditch Walter after the next two matches with an unresolved injury crisis. Mazzarri's record shows him to have performed well when he has had a predominantly fit squad available, having got us up to seventh despite having no replacements available for under performing key players for much of the time.

Any potential incoming manager is going to see that as a serious lack of backing for a head coach who has done well in reasonable circumstances, however our own fans view the matter. Unless Gino has someone on board and ready to go, I do not expect Walter to go anytime soon, though I fear he will struggle long term without backing from the fans, which he seems to be loosing.

Having lived about 3 miles from their ground (in the "nicer" part of the area, I might add) and now living back in this area, I can safely say that Watford is a hell of a lot nicer than Tottenham. However, Watford is still a **** hole, but it's one of the less ****ty ****holes there are.

So we might need six more wins then.

We're bound to pick up a few draws. 4 more wins would probably do it

With the ACORN bonus points and also our injuries concession points, we only need -3 more wins.

I'm afraid I have absolutely no idea what you're referring to. Maybe calm down a bit and rephrase it so I can understand and I'll try to give you an answer.

Has anyone noticed the assistant manager who does absolutely f all on the touchline?

I call him chewing gum man. He literally stands there all game chewing away without ever giving Walter any insight, ideas or giving out any instructions to the team. What's his name? He just seems useless for some reason.

To be honest I think this thread is unneeded, I admit that our performances have not been decent in a number of our games this season but the reality is that we are 12th in the premier league and if we are to battle and get a win tonight we will move up to 9th if Bournemouth loose at home to Arsenal. Walter has not had the best of luck with injuries and suspensions so far this season and to be honest I can’t see many managers getting results in the premier league with the squad we have had available recently.

I think a lot depends on if he insists on playing 3-5-2 whenever he can, I think it's a formation that can work, spurs played it the other day and it worked perfectly, we don't have the players for it though.

The more I think about our most successful period the more I'd like to see Okaka up front and Deeney playing deeper again, he excelled in that role and so did Iggy in his, until he suffered some sort of freaky Friday/Space Jam incident. Can't see Walter doing it though.

Interestingly the commentator said that Walter said he was on course to doing what the Pozzo's have asked from him at the start of the season, which is keeping the club in the premier league. If it's true that our owners ambitions for this season are staying in the division I cant see Wally going anywhere too soon.

Then we won't be staying in the league. He's only taking us in one direction and it's not up.

Mazzarri is now 9/4 favourite to be the next manager sacked after Phelan goes tonight.

I think that is a slight exaggeration to say he is only taken us down he has had no fortune and zero consistency this season, we have countless injuries that have clearly cost us. We are 14th and more importantly 7 points off the drop with key players to comeback.

He was favourite before Phelan went. It's basically a novelty bet market. If anything it says more about Gino than him!

Deeney, Capoue, Behrami, Kaboul, Prodl, Britos and Gomes all started tonight, all normal first choices. The injuries are an easy cop out for our managers inability to drill his squad properly.

Predictable that Berhami went off. Probably injured for longer now. I suspect the route cause of the issue is having players that are not fully fit, or prepared fully. There is a reason we have so many injuries and it's not bad luck.

So that still leaves a number of very important players out of the team selection, not to mention that Behrami played injured. Injuries are not a cop out and they are very relevant players make football, the better the players that are available the better the side usually do it is not rocket science.
