    I wonder how long it takes for some matches to be played in the Far East, like some NFL matches are at Wembley or WHL.

    Just after my interview up there ('94) I went on a meet and greet with the team I would be working with (four medics: one of whom was leaving and the other three would be staying on to do MD/PhD/EngDs in biosensors). They had jointly bought a house as 2nd year students and I was offered to buy her share (else the other three would buy her out it was all legit: legal/contracts). Very tempting, it was in the region of £10K (for 1/4 of a 4-bedroom house) at the "...border of Jesmond with Jesmond Dene close-by...". AKA Benwell. I didn't take them up on the offer, in fact I mentally refused their kind offer in the cab travelling to view the property as the cabbie was uncomfortable travelling to the address. and I was shocked by what I was seeing - bear in mind I had lived in Everton for 3 years.

    The cheeky bar stewards! Byker is also a bit of a bad place. I'll tell you what area has really changed (even though it ain't Newcastle) - Gateshead, especially between the Tyne and Stadium Metro station. Completely gentrified area, but I've been told as soon as you go south from the station towards the hospital, it becomes a hole again

    My best mate's (from my time in the 'Pool) mum and dad lived in Low Fell. Now that was a very nice part of the world. Part of my family's from Peterlee - used to have a lovely view of the chemical plants at Billingham...

    Do people pick a team to support based on their relative wealth? Imagine supporting one of these teams and having away games all over the world. Literally could not think of anything worse.

    It’s all about making money from the the rest of the world wanting to watch Real Madrid vs Liverpool, but imagine being an actual supporter of those teams.

    Would’ve thought they did have any sort of promotion/relegation it will be based on a coefficient system like is used to allocate CL spots at the moment. That said, the money involved and the fact that the best players will only want to play in that competition means the gap will become so large it will be irrelevant anyway.

    I had read that "founding member" teams of the new league would be immune from relegation for 20 years. But they would allow a few also rans to join and presumably mainly be used for cannon fodder and then relegated each year.
    What a ******* boring competition that would be.

    You aren't playing to be champions of Europe you are playing to be winners of a closed shop.
    And there is no jeopardy in terms of relegation.

    Lets expel all 5 teams from the premier league, UEFA and the FA. Let UEFA set up a European competition from the winners of leagues in Europe. See how long their closed shop lasts.

    I think as an actual fan you'd get bored pretty quickly would be so sterile and American. Football in the UK works on the basis of position based on merit it really is soul destroying to think that would be the future.
    Would truly hope it fails and the teams have to restart in non-league with the caveat that they can only be promoted every 20 years
    There was a recent time when Man City, even Chelsea if you go back far enough weren't top teams. Spurs haven't won much either. They can be replaced.

    Not sure about Carragher equating the "bottom 6" not wanting to support 'Project Restart' to the "top 6" supporting 'Project Big Picture'. I see what he's saying but one is temporary, one is permanent. Not to misrepresent him though, as his overall opinion is the same as everyone else's: bad idea.

    I like Parker and he has the makings of a PL team at Fulham.
    Lokman is superb and if we swap places with Fulham next year he'd be the one I'd want from their squad(yes I know he is on loan.)
    It wouldn't surprise me if they came very close to staying up.So many of the teams in the PL are average at best so if Mitro(or someone else)gets hot then that would be the difference.
    It's a great ground to go to so let's hope Burnley,WBA and Palace(my 3 least favourite grounds) do the decent thing and join the Championship next season.
