I think most of the penalties given over the weekend were very soft - no wonder players fall
    over so easily.

I do like that West Brom away kit.

Nice to give Leeds a good hiding at Bell.end Road.

The Leeds defence looked terrified of Vardy.

He was great last night, involved in the play a lot more than he has been previously under Rodgers.

I don’t watch much football other than our games now but I’d heard the hype around Leeds. I was surprised at how bad they were defensively.

Although I can't stand the bloke, the absence of Kalvin Phillips protecting Leeds ropey defence was crucial last night. When their full backs bomb on leaving their very dodgy centre-halves up against the likes of Vardy and Barnes, the lack of Phillips to delay opposition counter attacks was glaring I thought.

Surprised it's taken them this long to realise.

Also this: "He responded well to Deeney who was the type of captain and leader we can only dream of"

The view other fans have of Deeney is amazing really. And I bet loads of players in this shyt league we're in feel the same way and are a bit intimidated by his reputation.

But I thought we’d missed out on an extra £10m+ for Doucoure by not charging Everton the bed wetter premium?

In this crazy season Southampton are now top, if only temporarily at least! I blame Quique...

One thing I find odd about the PL pundits is how they seem to view Relegation like death, in that they don’t seem to want to acknowledge it.

I keep hearing regularly that both Dyche and Wilder will get their clubs out of trouble and be fine, but three clubs have to be relegated and they look like pretty good candidates for those spots at the moment.

If Fulham and West Brom get relegated that still leaves one spot and it’s hard to see past one of either Sheffield Utd or Burnley filling that spot, yet being traditional ‘proper’ managers nobody seems to want to acknowledge it.

I am sure there will be comparison between teams like us who sacked managers and Southampton who kept theirs despite a 9-0 defeat.

Helps they had a 20 goal striker/fairly solid defence and some midfielders who score goals.

And even when that star striker is out they have back up.

Mind you Newcastle went for a point as they do away from home and found themselves beaten after 7 minutes.

Also helps that they have a bit of cash to be able to attract a manager of the calibre of Ralph in the first place, as well as some players who for whatever reason were not playing to their potential. Despite the pedigree of some of the managers we've had, Ralph probably tops the lot of them considering we got those managers on the downslope

When a club gets promoted to the PL, unless they are someone like Newcastle (i.e. ‘big’), they are not considered part of the PL ‘club’ until they have stayed up for a couple of years. This is because the pundits don’t want to have to learn about a new set of players and hope they will soon go away again. If the club stays up for longer than that (e.g Burnley and before them, Stoke) they are considered full members and can’t possibly go down, so it’s a big surprise to them when they do. Although Watford stayed up for five years they were never quite considered full members because the pundits didn’t like the regular changes of manager and were ready to say “told you so” when we finally went down.
In the real world, on average, you would probably expect one of the three promoted teams not to be up to it and go back down, to be joined by a club who had struggled near the bottom for a couple of seasons and one surprise team who suddenly did worse than expected.

Bad miss by Doucouré to score and equalise for Everton - then Man U score at the other end.

Some of our guys would have no chance with the current offside rule in place.

VAR basically ruled out a Leeds goal because Bamford was pointing!

Any official who deemed that as offside should be fired.

    Palace fan is he?

Shame for Palace as it's probably vey rare for them to get 4 goals and all the talk is about a daft offside.

Cannot be the first time someone has pointed for a pass and probably been "offside"

I don't know who the VAR was but they lost all common sense.

He is indeed, man and boy and played with Steve Kember.
VAR is not the issue,it's the ninnies that are using it and the daft rule changes that little weasel Mike Riley has brought in. People like him are dangerous and should not be allowed within five miles of sport. They populate every known sport in this country.
    Ghastly.

Incredibly bad pen, of course they always look bad if they don’t come off but they need to go straight down the middle and 9/10 you’ll still score. Put it slightly to either side and it’s 50/50 the keeper saves it if he goes that way.

Or if you dare, in off the bar like Zidane:

Wonder what sort of reception that gets in the dressing room and from the manager. Poor Ademola thinks he is Messi but he isn't. Still Zaza's effort against Germany at the last European Championships is my favourite worst penalty.

Oh yes that was dismal, then again never let the cat from Hector's House take a penalty!
Ford and Arthur have good dribbling skills, predominantly left pawed but ambipawdrous really. Rubbish at penalties though.

Parker wasn’t happy but as he is one of their better players Lookman will be in the team next time.

In the not too distant past his reception would have been the cold shoulder or a bollocking. I’d imagine in the current era he will be offered a cuddle and some counselling whilst being told it wasn’t his fault. At least he was trying to score!

Classic example of a player not getting s foul when not going down and another getting one for doing just that.

This argument seems to have built up a head of steam over the past season or two, but I don't buy it at all. Unsurprisingly it stems from ex pro's such as Shearer, Jenas and Lineker.

Over the past 5-10 years the Premier League has become a festival of diving each and every week. Not just in the box but all over the pitch and it has become accepted. That is down to players cheating and conning referees. Refs then have the unenviable task of trying to see what is a dive and what isn't and they have gone about that task poorly. So the fact a player 'has to go down easily' is because the players themselves have created this ethos of diving. To double back on that and blame the referees is utter tosh which they dish out in the hope people will start to carry the line.

Any dive in any area of the pitch should be a straight red, 5 game ban and 3 point deduction. Diving stops immediately.

The referees in England are woeful, but this culture of "I had to go down to make sure I got it" has been created by the players and nobody else.
