Not seen anyone looking really really s**t yet. Mind you, Muff don't play until tomorrow.

Palace were very poor today, but you'd imagine they'll sign a striker or two before the end of the month

They should be fine. They've got so much pace & very many good players even without a top striker. Townsend, Zaha, Bolasie, Jedianak, Ledley, Dann, Cabaye...

Mind you, Pardew is their manager so..

Bolasie is also off to Everton. I think Palace will struggle this season, wouldn't be surprised to see Pardew go by January.

They have a team of Anya's.

If Palace don't sign a striker they will be down there, they had all those players last season but they still finished it worse than us (which is saying something) and couldn't buy a goal for love nor money. The problem they have now is that they have left it very late and everyone knows they need a striker, they'll need to dig very deep to get a half decent striker in.

I agree plus Pardew has a reputation of starting really well in a job and then upsetting everyone. Think I read they are after Beneteke but Liverpool want 30mil. If they get him they will be fine, sadly.

    Bournemouth are absolutely hopeless.

Worst side in the division. Ibe has been awful as well. Probably should have spent that £15 million improving their joke of a defence.

  9. ForzaWatford

Bournemouth's defending has been shambolic. United haven't got out of 1st gear and they're 3-1 up.

  10. Nnnn

I was hard to know how much of it was down to ManUre being good or Muff being poor. Probably a bit of both.

Muff basically swapped Richie for Ibe, As much as I hate that cheating little kahunt Richie, I'd say that's a downgrade.

How come Gradel didn't start? Madness.

Thought Lewis Cook was also pretty poor.

If I was a Bournemouth fan I'd be pretty worried, defence looked awful too and their other big signing Ibe was average at best.

Muff sign Marc Wilson from Stoke. So that's 2 Wilsons & 2 Cooks.

    There's a pattern emerging...

Crystal Palace also in my book look a good bet to go down,,,,,, quite a lot of pessimism about the season on their forums and many want Pardew out

The Scousers have turned down a fresh Palarse offer of £30M for Benteke today according to reports. I doubt they'll go any higher. They're gonna have to get someone or they're screwed.

Kind of surprised that so few have predicted Palace for relegation along with the usual Burnley and Hull, as opposed to Muff, Swansea and Sunderland - still more surprising that even WBA have been a more popular choice.

To be fair to Muff they lost to the woeful Villa in their first game last season, so maybe better to judge them after half a dozen games. However, if they do continue like they did at the weekend they will be in trouble.

I think it's going to be a six way battle down there and we won't be in it.

That's the three that came up plus Palace, Sunderland and Muff and I see little to separate any of them. All will lose to nearly all teams outside of that group so it's looking likely to be an almighty battle amongst themselves for survival.

Swansea looked ordinary against a poor Burnley who should have had a penalty, so I'd add that to your list GF

I expect Guidolin's defensive tactics will keep them out of it. They'll get their fair share of draws from the top half clubs.

Sunderland is going down for certain. The Tyne-Wear Derby will probably continue in the Championship. I'd probably pick Hull and either B'mouth or Burnley to go with them.

I was nervous about the season before this post. Now that you have informed me that we'll be getting 36 points against these six teams I reckon we can cobble together 4 points against the others. Job done :)

Sunderland will struggle without Allardyce + they are shedding some of their better players. Obviously Defoe is a god send for them however

I'd imagine Swansea will be fine, Guidolin is an excellent manager

I don't think we'll be in this conversation this season, squad looks stronger than last year. If Pereyra lives up to the hype we should look to improve on last season's 13th place finish. Let's just not get too down if these early tough fixtures don't go our way please.

  26. Banjo

    Banjo Reservist

Sunderland desperately need to re-enforce before close of transfer deadline, I'd put them in grave danger along with Bournemouth and in spite of their early success Hull, Burnley and Swansea, We look strong and I think we have enough about us this season, particualrly bringing in Pereyra and Kaboul to comfortably survive, particularly after our first few fixtures (wouldn't surprise me if we get Points off West Ham or even Arsenal at home before our 'easier' run) after which we should start to slowly progress up the table.

Bournemouth look ****. No improvements made and look easy to play against, no pressing from them today. £15m for Ibe is hilarious.

I was fearful at the beginning of the campaign but like last year I think our performances early on have been good enough to not be the worst 3 teams in the league. If Benteke to CPFC doesn't work they're in big trouble, Hull will eventually fall, Sunderland will hopefully not jammy their way out. Think Bournemouth will be alright

Hard to judge Muff after 2 tough opening fixtures maybe, but they have looked quite poor so far. They were up against a much-weakened Spam today & really should have done much better.

I can't help feeling last season's Muff would've won that match & probably given ManUre more of a game too. They seem to have gone backwards.

I favoured Burnley to go down before the matches started, but I'm not sure what to make of them anymore. On one hand, they beat Liverpool 2-0. On the other, Liverpool had something like 80% of the possession in that match. Are they lucky or surgically precise counter-attackers?

I reckon their organisation may save them now, akin to us last year. I'm hoping their technical insuperiority will catchup with them though

You've only got to look at us, cracking start, fell to pieces after Christmas. Hull and Burnley have has great starts but its only August.
