I assume they will sign a few players by next Wednesday.

All newly promoted but largely intact teams have an initial advantage over those that either finished last season poorly or have made wholesale changes, last season was no different and this one won't be either. Four to six weeks later any such advantage is lost as the other teams start to gel and their quality takes over.

I think Burnley and Hull will fall in the later half of the season due to them having an okay starting 11 but not great squads. I also think Bournemouth will struggle I honestly cannot see them winning much this season. I am sure we will be okay hopefully anyway.

Just watching MOTD, I know they were at home but Chelsea absolutely battered Hull and cut them to ribbons at will, I think our showing against them suggests we will be more than fine but Burnley will start to struggle sooner rather than latter.

Andre Gray will hopefully get a few games ban as well which will hurt them

Regards Bournemouth - these new dissent rules will surely affect the Eddie Howe tactic of surrounding and hassling the ref at every opportunity, and sides that also employ that as a team ethos, like Spurs, Pulis's West Brom, Hull and Stoke City.

Speaking of Bournemouth did anyone else think that Ake was totally out jumped by Dann?

i realise Dann is good in the air but Ake was nowhere for the Wickham header in the cup either.

I wonder whether those heavy falls have hurt him,I thought he had a great leap on him before those tumbles.

Not in the slightest, however now is the time to make those handicap bets as many were talking about in the summer.

Was just about to post this about Fabio Borini, that will have to hurt Sunderland especially the day after the transfer window closes.

So much pressure on Defoe to deliver for them now. And Pickford will have to carry on in goal until December when Mannone gets back

Don't want to get too carried away after such a great result and it's a long way to go for both teams, but could West Ham be a dark horse to get dragged in, if not right down?

They often have a really **** season after a good one, and I thought even before Iggy scored that without Payet, there was very little between them and us, and most other teams for that matter. Granted they finished 7th after losing at home to Muff this time last year, but there were signs of their frailties towards the end of last season when they lost at home to Swansea and an out-of-form Stoke. If they don't sort out their defensive problems soon, it could be a tough season for them.

Pulis could be gone from WBA by the sounds of it

As for West Ham, I know where you are coming from. Their defence is abysmal, but in all seriousness, Payet alone would keep them up, exceptional player and far too good for them

I would've thought ironically Mark Hughes would be in as just as much if not more trouble, at least WBA have won a game! Their form has been horrendous since they beat us at the Vic, leaking goals left, right and centre.

I've got to say, Stoke has looked absolutely terrible this season. Got ripped up by Tottenham today and it was the second time already this season they let in four goals. Couldn't even get a win week one against Middlesbrough, they might end up another unexpected contender in the relegation fight.

Sunderland 3-0 down to Everton on 71 minutes. They're absolutely dire. Rubbish defence and no fight at all. Lukaku with 11 minute hattrick after half time. He also hit the bar in that time.

  29. Meh!

Yeah, I think we can safely include Sunderland in this thread for the rest of the season. That was woeful. Beyond woeful.

  30. a19tgg

    a19tgg First Team

I honestly don't think we will be anywhere near the relegation zone, I know Saturday could be this seasons Liverpool game, but if I try and look at our team as objectively as possible it's bloody strong and bloody exciting. I think our defence will be a bit shaky throughout, but when we play the also rans I think we'll more often than not have too much in midfield and attack.

  31. El distraído

They were alright in the first half I thought. Not great, but definitely not woeful.

Once that first goal went it though, they completely fell to pieces. All defensive discipline went out the window.

The defending for both of Lukaku's headers was pathetic
