Pity these guys are not further on in their development but the youngsters are doing well and there is plenty of talent. How did Kewell do so poorly with them last year?

I won't say this guy is an amazing left-back, but I can tell you that our manager and management are wrong to let this player go for such a low amount. But Jorge Jesus (our manager) really wanted to work with Fábio Coentrão again (they worked together for a few years in Benfica, he's the one who showed Coentrão to the world and got him a Real Madrid deal). So Marvin got mixed up with that and ended up being put on the transfer list.
He's a Netherlands international, has Champions League experience, has big club experience (with all due respect to you guys), knows what it's like to fight for titles and a pretty decent full back.
I'd say his best comes in attack. He's very strong, tall, has good pace, he's pretty decent technically and crosses the ball very well. Sometimes needs to make better decisions when he's up front, but he is a very good offensive full back.
Defending is where he needs a bit more work. He needs to be more composed. Needs a bit of tactical work. Although he's very very strong in defensive duels with forwards/wingers. They rarely go past him 1v1. Because, like I said before, he's very powerfull, fast and tall. I'd say he wins like 9 out of 10 duels with other team's players.
I'd say aswell that because of those physical traits, he would be a great fit for the BPL.

Hope he has a nice season with you guys, if you end up signing him up. Pretty sure he's better than Holebas, from what I know about both players.

 

Just yesterday I said I hoped we’d be looking at genuine quality and not more Brice Dja-Djedje type signings.

I’m not a fan of writing off players I know nothing about but it’s really hard to find anyone or anything that has positive reports on this guy.

I did some of my own home work for a change because I knew nothing. I read that his deal to Sevilla only fell through because Sporting didn't want him being sold to Porto or Benefica in the future. Suggests he isn't totally useless and whilst I'd have preferred Gibbs because he knows the league, hg etc, sure this guy will be adequate back up until Jan when we can review the whole squad.
