    From an Everton forum:

"Not content with ruining our own season, we’ve ruined Watford’s.

    Up the blues."

    Made me laugh.

He showed he has the potential to be a great manager but his handling of the Everton approach was disgraceful.

Who knows what would have happened if Everton hadn't got involved.

I suspect Watford and Silva are both the losers though. If we had finished in the top 8 Silva could well have ended up at Arsenal next season. Now his obvious lack of loyalty and professionalism would, I suspect, put some potential employers off.

This is like when you suspect your girlfriend is being unfaithful and might leave you, so you instead dump her in the most devastating way possible. Feels good!

To be fair the owners obviously assumed he’d be more professional and underestimated the size of the mans ego and self importance. I don’t think it was unreasonable for all involved to expect and believe he’d just knuckle down and get in with it, which would’ve been the best outcome for all involved, Silva included.

Southampton lose today, Silva in charge there by the time we play them in the cup next week....?

It's not a matter of seeing the light. I've not been an apologist for Silva these past weeks. I'm just an apologist for continuity where possible, and for distinguishing between fact and rumour. Today's statement shows that actually a lot of the rumour (about discord and lack of focus) was actually fact, and therefore it's totally right Silva is no more.

Definitely the right decision , though a depressing story all round . We were heading in one direction . The statement has pretty much confirmed the rumours that were flying aound.

I like to think Gino had been waiting to pull the trigger as he was lining up a replacement and now has one. I for one won’t be complaining if we get a pragmatist in who sorts out the defence and just keeps us up . I can imagine it might be an interim appointment until the end of the season

Not quite what the board was expecting, but any answer that wasn't "bugger off" or "sulk" was enough. Congratulations. Its yours.

No chance of the first of those standing up in court though, too many intervening independent factors. Second seems more plausible but not really consistent with buying him out of his contract.

I'll give anyone a chance but his CV doesn't make impressive reading. If true, this is a serious gamble. Would rather it just goes to a stable pair of hands for 6 months....or longer.

Apparently he's an expert at stopping the bigger teams, however you're right, he's never been anywhere longer than 2 years (Malaga), however neither had Silva. So it fits the bill 18 month contract with a break after 6 months.

Unfortunately IBB is not here in person to accept this prestigious post as she's currently watching Roberto Pereyra, err Kygrios play Dimitrov and then needs to nip into Waitrose to do the recycling and shopping.
However she will be back forthwith to plan and prepare for her three matches in charge before she beggars off to the next best offer".

Sounds like the right decision. If his heads gone and he’s lost the dressing room now is the time to act. That said I still believe they were right in shunning Everton - they made an important statement in showing we won’t have our pants pulled down by anyone. If he’s not managed to get back to being professional since then it says a lot about him. His reputation is tarnished but as others have said - someone else will still give him another chance in the Prem.

  31. Possibly. But if Everton entered into any kind of dialogue with Silva (breaching contract, FA and PL rules), then both parties (Silva and Everton) have left themselves open to all kinds of legal penalty. That, and the immediate drop of form, may be very significant to a judge who cares more about the facts than abstract speculation.

To a point I agree, but how much loyalty have we shown to managers. Joka got us into the Prem, and QSF and Walt kept us there and they were all booted out. Loyalty cuts both ways, so why would we expect Silva to want to stay when he was offered a massive pay rise? You would hope that you would see us as a steppingstone to a bigger move longer term, but if he is offered financial security at a bigger club, it is not a crime for him to want that. It is too easy to blame Everton, but I don’t see they have don’t anything wrong; the reason there interest went on for weeks is that they knew Silva wanted out.

This is what I said at midnight last night on the should he go after Stoke game thread.

"First time I've said this this season but I'd like Silva to go now. His team selection dropping Gray all the time when he is scoring for someone who hasn't scored an outfield league goal annoys me no end.
It's not just that it's the run we are on. As someone else said I don't know where the next win is going to come from so get someone else in and organise and give the club a much needed lift."

Pozzos must respect my comments. ;) lol

There's a good case for saying that we are in a relegation battle up to our necks (yes, even when placed tenth) and the Cup takes back place in the line-up of important matches.

I think we can say goodbye to three more things.

    Carrillo
    Richarlison
    The Premier League.

Nobody good is going to want this gig.

Christmas complacency and injuries have seen us lose Silva, who will go elsewhere and do a very good job, I've no doubt. But if you fall out with the board then there's only one outcome.

I'm so disappointed... That's the best I've seen us and suddenly here we are 2 months later.

It's not Evertons fault, approaches like that happen all the time. Silva could have denied it and been committed but he chose to hang onto the idea until there was no chance. I can't blame Everton in the slightest, Silva has dug his own grave.
