Well, breaking a contract might be considered as against the law.
Of course Everton were in the wrong - it was an open secret they continued to court him after being told "no". Against PL rules but, of course, pretty much impossible to prove.
There is an interesting thought, though, that Silva wanted out (and he clearly did) for more reasons than money: Did he feel, for instance, that he had been misled when he took the job. Did he read the signs or the small print carefully enough? We will probably never know.

Plus it would do the Pozzo's a favour in terms of the British media (if they care of course)

In a job application, a prospective employer will always consider recent roles first

    Silva's recent history is:
    Relegation with Hull
A collapse in form at Watford
    Disloyal
    Poor attitude

Not sure there will be a queue

Was expecting to read that Javi Gracia had nailed the Russian League or something, only to see a pretty poor record at every club. Don't know what to make of that. Beat Newcastle, Bournemouth, Stoke and West Brom. That's your remit.

Not so sure. I think Everton will now sack fat Sam and take Silva. They wanted him so desperately just a couple of months ago, they will not pass this opportunity up. Probably won't happen until the summer though.

Managers walk into other jobs regardless of past no problem. One of the few professions where you can get employed after being sacked in a previous one.

True - loyalty is not a part of the modern game. There is a lot of churn in this industry, for players and managers. We cannot truly begrudge Silva weighing up his options when offered much, much more money. That's the way of things, even if it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

What we can begrudge is his attitude since then. His employers reminded him he had a contract, which they would like seen out. Maybe disappointing for Silva, but a professional would suck it up and do his job. He's been given the chance to show some professionalism and failed to do so. It's a sad situation but our trajectory since the Everton approach would see us firmly relegated - something had to change.

I wonder if Silva has hurt his reputation at all? To outsiders this may just seem like the mad Pozzos at it again with managerial sackings. Certainly the case with opposition fans - will owners see it the same way?

I didn't feel particularly disappointed when QSF or Mazzarri got the boot, but this feels a bit more painful, just because we're all left wondering what might have been.

Whoever the new man is, he has to be more flexible when it comes to working under the Pozzo's conditions, but also strong enough to galvanize the squad. A tough appointment at this stage of the season.

  25. Taking your post at face value, I guess there are a few people who prefer scuffing around at the bottom of the Championship year on year, flirting with relegation and insolvency, selling players to stay afloat, while the ground disintegrates. If you are one of those people fair play to you for sticking to your prnciples.

Been reading reddit. Lot of other club groups mentioning him.

A lot are saying his record is poor and the whole everton thing is being highlighted.

His reputation around the other clubs is taking a massive hit - even among Everton fans.

    Quite funny really.

You can rest easy. Not going to happen in this universe. I'm not saying it's not theoretically possible that there are other parallel universes where this and other sorts of weird **** could happen, but just not in ours.

  34. And, therefore, seems to have been a fair subject for serious consideration on a football forum despite a few people suggesting otherwise.
