Brighton & Hove Albion 0-2 Watford - 25/04/2015

Hopefully Abdi and Toszer both on for the 90. Have a feeling we will need to score a free kick or long range shot to kick start it.

 

Personally I'd rather Brighton had still been in danger of going down because I think they'd have been more edgy and nervous and would have needed something out of the game and therefore approached it in a different way, especially being at home.

That said, we can only worry about ourselves and beat what's in front of us. I'm totally relaxed about Saturday..we are in the best form we've been in for a good few years, there's a quiet but steely determination about us to get the job done, and I believe we will.

As I said before, were it March we'd all be very confident of beating Brighton and Sheff Wed. All that's changed now (if 'all' is the right word!) is the enormity of the two matches and the huge prize that awaits if we can win both. If we can handle that pressure, and little evidence so far to suggest we can't, we're good enough to win both matches from the footballing perspective.

Yeah i agree, wish Brighton still has something to fight for a bit, probably would have played a bit worse and more openly and attackingly, we could potentially have exlpoited this, we need goals so we don't want them going to defensive (but tbh if they have nothing to play for i can't really see them doing this either). On paper, we should hammer Brighton they've lost 4 of the last 5 games and havent won in 5, tbh i'm more nervous about Wednesday, but still think we'll beat them. Pressure does make teams play worse, just look at Bournemouth and Norwich at the moment. Luckily I think we're coping reasonably well nerves-wise, i dont think we looked too edgy against Brum, so hopefully we should get through the next few matches okay....

 

Brighton are safe after Millwall lost last night.

There's no way they will 'park the bus' for a point in their last home game in front of 27k Brighton fans.

We can't relax and Joka and Troy will do their stuff to keep the team from relaxing.

Guedioura's last game vs Brighton.

I won't be there but I know we'll give him a great send off.

Would be brilliant if he scores - he's made a huge difference to the team.

Basically what GF is saying is that if either Deeney or Cathcart for example get a soft yellow card early on then get very twitchy.

 

If anyone can create an official matchday thread to replace this unofficial one feel free, if not we can either keep this one or I'll just create another thread 'Brighton v Watford - but with a poll...

I think we need another thread about Brighton, seems to be a lack of them IMHO.

 

No but the guy who usually does it can't do it and is looking for someone else to (see previous post), no problem, to be honest I'd rather not anyway, wouldn't know how to do it, just gonna leave this post how it is, hopefully someone will create a new one, be good to have some kind of a poll though...

I am massively nervous, a point v Ipswich would have allowed us to draw one of our last two and stay in the top two, now if we drop points we rely on others doing the same again. I hate looking back at games but I can't help it!

 

or Toczer, Abdi, Watson, Conolly etc, etc.

Fortunately nothing Stroud can do can weaken us to the extent we can't take care of Wednesday even if they did manage to draw at the Goldstone and even with 10 we'd still be too strong for Brighton IMO.

It's gonna be interesting.

 

The remedy for that is to look back at our VERY late wins over Blackburn, Brentford and Bolton in a row and think about the 6 points we might have dropped!
