Alessandro Diamanti

Totally agree, I watched alot of Alessandro Diamanti at West Ham. Fantastic penalty, free-kick and corner taker. Yes lacks some pace, but great passion, work rate and deliveries.

He wouldn't be signed to make a profit, but would be ideal for a bit of quality in the later stages of games.

Players can play this weekend if they're signed before midday today. He's going to score the winner tomorrow and jump into the crowd, he seems that type of player.

 

Not at all suggesting having a squad is a problem. I'm worried that at his age and having gone off to China for a year he may not have it anymore and therefore couldn't offer us anything more than others, but I am not basing this on anything tangible (ie watching him play recently) and as I said: I hope I'm wrong

I'll get abused for this but I'd rather we kept Forestieri than signed a 32 year old who never set the premier league alight the first time around...

Diamanti is probably better than Forestieri in almost every single aspect.

 

He's also 32 and probably only has 1/2 seasons left in him and i'm always skeptical of a player who moves to China just for the money. Forestieri has the ability to improve and develop as a player and I don't think diamanti does.

H23 with Diamanti signing can you realistically see FF making the 25 man squad?

 

If this is the last year that Diamanti is any good in his career then it's a good move for us. The plan is clearly to invest in experience to ensure survival/megabucks next year - I'm sure future purchases will have longer term planning in mind.

 

You don't know who is going to be in the squad. I'd rather have Diamanti given the choice and Fernando has hardly been a regular in pre-season. If he's wanted by Quique then they'll find a space for him.

 

Diamanti is a good signing IMO. Has that little bit of quality we need particularly with Almen becoming a part-timer. However the margin for fringe players is decreasing rapidly.

 

I think after 3 years it's time for us to accept that as much as we love Fessi, he will never develop into the player we want him to be; and tbh, a loan could be good for him. Diamanti has one of the best left feet in Football and outrageous technical ability, one of my all time favourite players, to turn that down so Fessi can continue to frustrate would be mad.

 

I think I might have accidentally trodden on Stewie Griffin's faulty time machine. Suddenly I'm living in a parallel universe where Australia can be bowled out for 60 & Watford can sign players of the caliber of Alessandro Diamante. Fan-fekking-tastic.

 

I love Fessi he's a breath of fresh air and bleeds yellow, but if he can't force himself into our championship squad how is he going to do it now the bars been raised?

Needs to get his head down and learn the AM role away on loan, still has time to make it

 

My main worry is the mercenary aspect. Hopefully i'm wrong but the fact he moved to China concerns me. If he's not just here for the money then fair enough, it seems a good enough signing but that concerns me.

 

I'd pretty much guarantee he'll have been earning more in China than he'd get at any Pozzo club.

 

...and so you send FF on loan where he can play every week and develop rather than rot on the bench at Watford.

If hes good enough he can come back to us in a year or two, when Diamante has been sold for glue.

 

Diamante was voted by West Ham fans as their second best player of the year. So he must have done something right.

I think we have enough players who can set the league alight. Now we just need experience and quality. Sure, he may not be winning any player of the month awards, but I can guarantee he's better than what we have.

 

Wobby says a loan deal has been done with the option to make it permanent. Says they've moved quickly this morning which suggests that they've tried to get it done in time for tomorrow.

 

He had a career only in mid-small clubs and was playing in a desperately struggling Bologna. Then comes an offer from Lippi (manager at Guangzhou, former Italy manager) for 6.9M€ in 3 years. Why not?
He had the satisfaction finally to play for big money and in a winning team (won Chinese League).
Then obviously he was missing the "serious" football (no offence to Chinese League but ...) and he asked a loan for half season to Fiorentina, where he played quite a lot (11 matches, 669') in a team that finished 4th in serie A.

Seems more like one who was just willing to try the Chinese experience than a mercenary to me. And a brilliant signing!

When does the Chinese league start, and how match fit is he?
