Abbreviations can be really quite hard to decipher and I stand by my original opinion that typing the surnames in is far clearer and really doesn't take tat much extra effort.

 

Real supporters know the squad by heart and as such, know all the abbreviations. I'd suggest that those who are upset about abbreviations take a good hard look at themselves and try to decide whether they are really cut out to follow this club.

Perhaps if we included squad numbers in abbrevs it would be clearer - TD9 HG1 MV10 N12 etc?

Surely if someone talks about "TD & MV upfront" there can't be too many on here who don't know what that means, need numbers, need full names, can't cope with just initials on principle etc ?
About time we started talking about double-pivots and Quattroformaggi or whatever it was again.

Id love this to happen, a West Ham supporting mate told me he got cult like status when there for the season. He's getting on a bit but to have players who can create something out of nothing is something not all clubs have.

Him or Jurado in the middle of the three behind Deeney would be brilliant imo

 

I believe he was second in the Player of the Season awards at West Ham.

 

Class player, surprised he never played for one of Europe's top teams in his career he was certainly good enough




If we have given up on Perotti I can see Diamante as the alternative, add Nathan Ake and I'd say we're done

 

I think your right about Nathan Ake, being able to play defensive mid as well as left back seems ideal to give us cover..

 

Such a sweet left foot, would be a great addition.

 

Despite being 32, was good enough to play for Fiorentina for second half of last season .

Only 2 years ago , did he stop playing for the Italian national team .

Am hoping for Ledesma instead of Ake , though as he offers the high level of passing that is possibly lacking from our central midfield . Plus Ake isn't going to get much game time , so seems unlikely Chelsea would want to loan him.

 

TBF he's been pretty decent in this transfer window .

 

Has he? Seems like he pipes up after we're rumoured to be interested in someone.

I don't feel excited about this guy. Not quite sure what he offers that an Abdi/Jurado doesn't and I don't think he's defense-minded enough to offer much protection playing in the 3 behind (presumably) Deeney.
I hope to be proven wrong.

 

Abdi is injury prone, Berghuis needs time to adjust to tempo of English football

At 32 he'd probably not play every game but would be a quality option when needed

 

So you think it's a bad thing that we're looking at bringing in a guy of Jurado/Abdi's quality...? I can see why you'd think that, after all it's not like either of those have been injured recently.

 

Genuine question - wouldn't Robbie Brady have been a better signing than him? Also left-footed and a set-piece specialist, but homegrown and can likely still last a full 90 minutes...

I like the fact Mr Pozzo was after Brady when he was a bargain price leaving Man Utd for Hull, he went to Hull as it was the season they went up to the Prem..

The money Norwich have spent on him smacks of desperation and gives me more confidence we will finish above them quite comfortably

 

Well of they're going to be injured all the time then sure, let's terminate their contracts and sign Diamanti instead
If Quique can keep them all happy - even when they're sat on the bench - then fine, more options can't hurt

 

Why is having a squad suddenly a problem? Having someone with the quality of Diamanti to start some games, to come off the bench some games and to offer advice to the likes of Berghuis, who seems to be a similar type of player, could be invaluable.

 

As well as the added bonus of having someone who has been there and done it on the biggest stage for young players like Berghuis to learn from.

 

I don't think it's desperation. It's the model of gradual progress. Unfortunately as a jewel in the crown he's not going to be enough for them.

 

If Brady had come we'd likely have the Dyer scenario all over again with him thinking he should be first choice ... Sod that for a game of marbles! If he's coming (and I suspect he is) at least Diamante will know his selection won't be automatic.
