El Greco always painted 'thin geezers' which is why he never painted Deeney.

I think Everton are starting to panic a little bit now they have clearly been told no and don't know where else to turn to.

Conte seems unhappy in his present job. Would be perfect if his ambition matches Everton's

The bit they probably don’t understand is this mythical club statement. The club haven’t said anything or else it would be on the website and widely reported with names attributed. Can hardly blame the media for stoking a fire that Silva is encouraging and Gino isn’t killing off ‘officially’. That’s the bit that worries me about the situation - Gino/Duxberry’s complete silence on the matter.

If it’s true tht Gino has said ‘no way, not at any cost’, then it’s time the fans were told that rather than some half-story in a newspaper that’s open to 100 interpretations.

Can’t blame the media for anything that’s been said so far for me.

I agree. None of the signs show the coach or staff are unhappy or not committed.

Maybe ego has got the better of Silva, but I think the wisest course of action now would be for Silva to publicly state he wants to stay at the club and finally close the door on this.

The club have said a firm no to Everton, so it will only be damaging if this is not put to bed right now. It could damage Silva’s reputation if he took matters further.

He was happy to sign a two deal only a few months ago when he had other options. As I say, I think he’s been flattered by the attention but it’s now time to move on from it all.

    Everton can have Pullis.

They could do that but as @easthertshornet says we would be able to report them for tapping up. Secondly as Silva has a contract we could simply put him on gardening leave which is the last thing anyone wants.

I've been watching the markets on this one and there is still no firm favourite meaning, (to me at least), that they're obviously still holding out for Silva. However, Van Gaal has just seen some serious movement and money on him at Betfair has been taken very quickly. Let's hope...

I can't be bothered to trawl through pages of this, so apologies if this sentiment has been posted before.

Much has been made by the club of the fact that our stability comes from the structure above the head coach, and that coaches may come and go, but the stable structure remains.

Surely him staying or leaving doesn't matter if this is true?

True but for me (and hopefully for Gino too) it's now become a matter of principle. That so called big clubs can't assume they'll always get their way no matter how much money and persuasion they throw at it.

In one respect you're not wrong, but it takes time to bed in a new head coach and pre-season is the best time to do this. Joka was the last one brought in mid-season, he got some good results at first then we went on a 4-match losing streak before we hit our promotion stride.

There's a distinct lack of information coming out of Everton with regards potential managers at the moment other than the Silva stuff. I think they'd hoped that Unsworth would look decent enough to see us through until the end of the season and would have then dealt with it, unfortunately it's apparent that he isn't up to the job so there's now this mad rush 3 weeks after sacking Koeman to try and do something.

We're too poorly run to have multiple targets, our approach seems to be to constantly go after one target until that doesn't happen and to then consider the possibility that we have to look elsewhere rather than have a backup plan.

Good result yesterday by the way, it's always nice to see someone smash another nail into David Moyes' managerial coffin.

Losing streaks can happen at any time. We've just ended a run of three straight losses, with a full pre- season and a dozen games under our belts.

This all seems like typical pozzo silence like in transfer windows.

They don't ever usually say a lot, we panic, and everything usually ends up ok.

    Keep calm.

They are after Ancelotti according to their fans....

Would love Hughes to get the sack from Stoke and end up there. And Frank Skinner can **** off as well.

If Silva does go it is only for the money.

When you look at the Everton and Watford squads on paper, player wise, we have a much more exciting squad and future than they do.

They have supposedly promised Silva a £70mil war chest for Jan. £70mil is not enough to turn that sack of poopoo around and get that team playing the way Silva likes too.

    An Everton checklist for Silva:

    Pacy FB’s - nope
Box to box midfielder (Doucoure) - nope
Pacy wingers who also defend - nope
Striker who pulls defenders out of position - nope
Striker who is strong, bullies defenders and wins most aerial battles - nope

That’s 7 positions off the top of my head that Everton need. £70mil isn’t near enough what is needed to turn their season around.

If I had to make up a mashup of the two teams playing Silva’s formations it would look like this

Pickford (although Gomes is a boss)

    Femenia Kabasele Keane Holebas

    Doucoure Davies (Chalobah when for)

    Carrillo Sigurdsson Richarlison

Gray (Calvert-Lewin in a couple of seasons)

While Baines, Barkley and Jagielka are good, they don’t fit Silva’s way of playing which is why I didn’t include them.

Rooney is a hasbeen and past it which is why he isn’t included
