Is Marco Silva all that?

And if Gray is the best striker that both teams can come up with then we are both in a sorry state.

True but he did capture our chaotic attempts at zonal marking rather well:

Total banter if they’ve sacked one useless Dutch manager just to go and hire another one.

Only diff I guess is it's £70m that HE can spend rather than having to accept who the club wants to buy here.

Maybe aside from wages he doesn't like the lack of control over things here.

Just when you have the joy of sacking a manager who sucks all the joy out of football what a bunch of uninspiring candidates as replacements

The "Next Manager ..." Odds markets are possibly the worst market to place bets on. Its so fake.

The Natural order of things is that Everton are a bigger club than us and is obviously going to be attractive to Managers.
However, sometimes clubs hold firm and defy the natural order.

    - Southampton - Not letting Van Djik go this season.
    - Everton - Refusing to sell John Stones to Chelsea.

Holebas shouldn't be anywhere near our team or theirs.

I'd take Baines in a second, despite being old and largely past it.

He should be used to it, it's how they operate in Portugal and even more so in Greece.

The thing about West Brom is that they don't have a good team and the reason they have stayed away from the bottom in recent times is because of their style of play, its going to take a lot of work for a new manager to change them in my opinion.

Pulis is a trouble shooter, and may be what a club like Swansea need in the short term. But he's no more than a sticking plaster and should not be considered for a long term management role at any club.

With us, he probably thinks a top half place is likely, but he'd think about moving to a bigger club at the end of the season whatever happens.

The downside of moving to a bigger club is not having enough time to implement your playing style. At Everton, the expectations will be so low at the current time, that they will probably give him time despite a lower-midtable place.

Football is a fickle game. One second you're the next big thing, the next you're practically finished. With both Everton and Watford, he's probably looking at a mid-table finish. But at Everton, he gets a higher salary, a higher transfer spend and will get more press attention.

I'd take the Everton job if I were him (and I wasn't a Watford fan), but I wouldn't be too bothered if it didn't work out.

I'd have said Pereyra over Sigurdsson. And if Holebas and Gray are the best either team can offer for those positions, may God help us.

There are twitterings of LVG having been seen in Everton today. Almost certainly unsubstantiated twitter nonsense but here's hoping. At least if Marco does end up remaining, the club will be well progressed as a result of this debacle in finding his successor when he does then go at the end of the season.

  21. LVG? They'd have bene better sticking with Koeman. What a mess that club is...

  23. Having some good yucks on the Everton board. To be fair they are pretty laid back and in the spirit of the bantz (with a few dim exceptions) - I think the initial certainty that they'd get their man is fading a bit.

It is great fun watching on as clubs like West Ham, Everton, Palace and West Brom implode. Future chaos at Swansea, Stoke and maybe Southampton to look forward to this season as well

Big Sam played for West Brom, is a local boy, and is adept at getting crap teams away from relegation. His teams may not be particularly stylish, but they're more fun to watch than Pulis's. I think he'd be a good choice for them.

Regardless of whether BFS would keep them up, it’s got zero chance of happening. Pulis was doing poorly but his sacking is to appease the fans there just as much as anything - now don’t get me wrong, WBA fans are crazy if they think their style should suddenly be like 70’s Brazil after all these years - but I also don’t think the owners would be crazy enough to bring in BFS and his style of play over the last few years. They’ve backed themselves into a position of hiring a manager who will be tasked with keeping them up by trying to get a team of relative hodders playing decent stuff. No easy task and I expect Michael O’Neill will be given the job.

Thankfully only one of those clubs has any chance of taking Silva off us too. Sadly though, it’s the one who is currently trying to!

  31. Palace is a useful lesson for any club owner who wants a team of cloggers to play expansive football

WBA made their bed with Pulis, they allowed him to build a Pulis squad, changing it now could send them down

I would love LVG back in the Premier League. He has the gift of natural comedy that keeps on giving. Him and Moshiri are a match made in heaven and Everton should not hesitate to get a big name worthy of their great club. Much better chance of getting PSG to cough up Cavani in January. I am sure that even Garth Crooks would approve of the legend returning to the north-west. Klopp and LVG would be comedy gold on the touchline.

It wasn't that long ago that WBA were playing some great football. They footballed us off the park when Boothroyd was in charge and we were top of the Championship, and that style continued well into their Premiership years.
