Wednesday fans have turned on him since his brilliant first two years with them, saying he's a bad egg in the dressing room. I'd hope that's because he's a Watford boy at heart and not because that's his personality!
So lightly wasnt a reference to skin colour then? Or can't white people be racially slurred? Asking for a friend.
You wait til he gets the ball, rounds 2 toothless gypo's on the edge of the box, before sticking it in the top corner in the 90th minute against the scum to win it 1-0. He will become a legend.
I don’t think I could cope with the joy I would feel if Fessi scored the winner against that lot. Imagine his happy little face as he celebrated with but socially distanced from the fans. I bet he is proudly polishing his junior hornet shin pads as we speak. he’d then go home to celebrate with his even tinier wife who would have made his favourite tea (turkey dinosaurs, egg and beans arranged into mickey mouses face)
Nando always felt like a fan with the rest of us. Wasn't he behind a bar in the town centre at one point after a good result? He may spur the team over the line as nobody would want to see him weeping in the changing room corner if we narrowly miss out on promotion. I miss the scamp and would welcome him back.
Who is your source? I haven’t posted anything about it. How dare you have another source other than me.
You should tell y0ur friend to l0ok up what the term actually means and who it refers to (not white people) before they incorrectly throw around accusations on a public forum.
I asked him on Twitter if he knew of anything and he sent me these screenshots.. he may not be ITK himself but he must know someone.
You missed out the key point that he is a free signing. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Abdi and Angella sign next. 8 games from now Ivic will be fired for failing to mesh this collection of freebies and cheap loans into a winning team.
‘Lighties’ refers to mixed-race women and is seen as a term of affection/endearment. It doesn’t refer to white people. The opposite term doesn’t hold the same affection or meaning and is commonly viewed as racist.
So it is still a reference to skin colour then. But even using that logic, what is a lighty to a black man, would be a darky to a white person..... wouldn't it? See the can of worms that gets opened when snowflakes, see offence everywhere, and use the race card at the drop of a hat?
How is it "a term of affection" when you say you "hate" them?? Saying you "hate" an entire group of purely based on their race and/or the colour of their skin is racism; it's not very complicated.
It's not necessarily a term of affection, or endearment. Andre was wrong to say he hates a group of people, but the term he used is not generally considered a slur.
Not being a POC I don’t know. I’m not embedded in their culture so couldn’t comment. I’m only passing on the very basic understanding of what I do know and is freely available to find out. And at this point, I’ll bow out of this topic...
Just pointing out how hypocritical some people can be, and asking why some terminology is acceptable when the opposite isn't. It's in that same stupid area where black guys freely use the N word, but are mortified if a white guy uses it...... bottom line is it a bad word or not, YES! so nobody should use it. Personally I don't give a toss, I don't use either term, never would.
And it doesn't need to be a slur for it to be racist when you're saying you hate an entire group of people based on their race/ethnicity, e.g. similarly "People of Colour" is not considered a slur, as per Burnsy's comment above, but if someone put the words "I hate" before it then it would land them in very hot water.
Have you ever stopped to think why that could be? You're getting yourself in a tizz about subjects you don't know much about. That's not a dig btw, you've got no reason to know much about it, and there's no obligation for you to. But it might be an idea to do some research on the ins and outs and the history before commenting. Edit: apologies for derailing the thread
My first job I worked with some proper Soul boys " their reference" all three of them referred me as snowflake for the entire period we worked together. Not once did I take this as a racist comment towards me. Exactly where is the line drawn on something like this?
Back to the topic of Forestieri.... His record really was poor before he moved to Watford, gives a bit of hope for the likes of Perica.
Perica's record last season looks pretty reasonable to be fair. He scored a goal every other game (or every 127 minutes if you prefer to look at it that way) for a fairly weak side in a comparable league.
Guardian newspaper report at the time: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/aug/27/andre-gray-fa-charge-i-hate-lightys Includes: “Lighty” is slang, often used in a derogatory sense, to describe a light-skinned person of mixed race and the FA’s disciplinary department has included that in the case against the striker, Reference from Urban Dictionary website: Lighty a word to describe a mixed race or light skinned person .. some ppl take it to offence though oh my days .. whos that lighty over there :O by nynynyesha October 10, 2010 Oxford definition of racist: ADJECTIVE Prejudiced against or antagonistic towards a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized. Everybody is entitled to their opinion but mine is that 'I hate Lightys' was an unpleasant remark aimed at a particular ethnic group based upon their skin colour.
