To be absolutely fair you've never owned the games you buy. Same with CDs and DVDs. All Microsoft are doing is asserting legal rights they've had all along.

I get your point, but a least you could share your Games with friends or sell them on, which seems only fair. Now all games are registered with one user so they can't be shared or sold.

It's certainly a bold move by Microsoft. I thought I'd read that you could still let friends play your games though?

I hope that's true, but from what I understand you pop in the game and the disk is registered to your Live account which basically locks down the disk so it can only be used when on that account. But as I said I'm not 100% sure, so fingers crossed I'm wrong.

i think its a brave move, but not necessarily the wrong one. many people over here are taken advantage of by high street stores selling used games. the fact that places can get away with buying a game back from a consumer for less than a fiver and then selling it for 20 quid or more is ridiculous.

i have no problem with games being registered to just one account, so long as you can play them on different consoles with that account.

also saw a teaser for a new star wars battlefront made by DICE.

Yep, and it can then be transferred once and once only to another account. Meaning if you sell, lend a game to your mate for them to play on their console/account, it can never be passed on again.

Wow PS4 just blew microsoft away. Can't see how anyone could justify xbox one now. Ps4 confirmed no DRM, supports used games, no checking in online, no kinect always online, and $100 or £70 cheaper. The only poor point was the fact that PSN+ is necessary they think, but it offers free games, its the same price as xbox live gold membership, and offers many more features. Well worth staying up till 4am to watch E3, so excited.

Sony just sh*t all over Microsoft. I know which console I'll be buying first.

Ooooh - we still play this (xbox Battlefront II) on the 360. Now would Disney do a link up with microsoft so all games from "The Franchise Strikes Back" are exclusive to the "Evil Empire"?

Im' still waiting for something concrete about the SteamBox.

I think the PS4 will be the first one in the series I miss.

The PS3 does everything I need, games for the most part do not take advantage of hardware. Are there any full HD games out there for instance?

It streams from My Network HD and plays blurays.

When Gran Turismo 7 comes out I might re-evaluate but to be honest If been playing the versions less and less and probably won't buy 6 at all. My interest in 5 disappeared fairly quickly.

I'll be waiting a year to see how they both pan out and how the prices drop.

I'll be getting a PS4 release day, I'm sick of this horrendously dated generation and Sony have well and truly sucked me in.

I'll wait for the price drop, but cannot see myself purchasing an Xbox1 if they hold out on this used games policy. For such a rich company it's disgusting how they continuously rip off their customers.

Trying to decide which console to buy before all the details have been revealed.

I won't even be making up my mind till they've been out for a few months and any bugs in the hardware become apparent.

To be fair I think most of the details are out now. Agree about waiting for bugs etc though and that's another reason for my wait and see stance.

I agree, I think the people on this thread need to wait until hectic has given it the all-clear and picked the console he prefers before making their choices.

They're desperate to hit the xmas market. Wonder if it'll be cheaper in the january sales or if there will be any problems with people unable to get their kid one for xmas and end up paying huge prices. It'll be the must have toys for xmas I reckon.

  23. UEA_Hornet

I would imagine they've learned from the supply problems of the past although clearly any savvy modern company likes to whip up a bit of craziness around their product by introducing a certain limit on numbers available. I don't think either will be cheaper in January but certainly by Christmas 2014 I'd expect some reduction.

Part of this is due to VAT. Prices in the US are often quoted without VAT as sales tax varies from state to state. UK prices always include VAT. If you exclude VAT the UK price is £343.

What details haven't been revealed? We know the specs of both consoles, we know basically all of both consoles launch line ups, we know which producers, developers and games Sony/Microsoft have exclusivity with, we know that PS4 has Playstation Eye and Move and Xbox One has Kinect, we know that PS4 supports used games whereas Xbox One doesn't, we know that PS4 is region free and Xbox One isn't, we know that PS4 doesn't require an internet connection to play games and Xbox One does at least every 24 hours, we know that PS4 is £80 cheaper than Xbox One, we know that PS4 has a removable/upgradable HDD and Xbox One doesn't and we know what both consoles and their controllers look like.

    What else do you want?

I'm probably one of the few who has already made up their mind in favour of the Xbox. I've read so many complaints about the Xbox which quite frankly don't concern me in the slightest:
    - need to connect to Internet every 24hours really not bothered, after all we live in the days of broadband, really not an issue I would imagine for 90%+ of owners
    - price 100quid more expensive but also includes the kinect whereas you have to fork out an additional 50quid or so for the ps move as an addition anyway
    - used games i don't want this to sound snobby or anything, but I've never bought a used game anyway, not because I think it's stupid I was just always worried about scratches on disks. You can still lend your Xbox games to selected members of your friends list which suits me fine

I've watched lots of trailers in the 24hours and to be quite frank I think the Xbox exclusives are better than the playstation ones. I cannot wait to get my hands on Titan fall and Ryse in particular.

I will probably get a lot of flack for this but I don't mind, I'm just being honest.

As you say, it's your personal preference, but you'll be very much in the minority. The fact is that to the majority of gamers the PS4 is offering more and restricting less at a lower cost. Microsoft will point to the Kinect in terms of price, but the vast majority of people couldn't give the slightest crap about it.

Games like Ryse, MGS5 and Halo, will unfortunately force my hand towards the new Xbox despite my reservations.

When it says you have to connect to the internet, I presume if you go on holiday for two weeks and turn your router off, then switch it on when you get back, everything will be fine? I'm assuming this internet thing is just for when you start up the game and it has to connect/verify with the servers?

Like I said, I personally like to wait till the consoles are out and we've seen more than a glorified press release.

Feel free to make up your mind now if you want, I just think it's pointless.

MGS5 is on PS4 as well. Don't even get me started on Halo. Ryse looks very pretty but I don't like the look of all the RTE combat at all.
