Perhaps they’re relegation rivals because they’re buying the likes of Will Hughes

Or perhaps buying our best midfielder will mean they are no longer a relegation rival ?

Palace have had two shots on target in three games, they haven’t scored a goal this season, so it’s pretty obvious where their issues are.

I think it would be somewhat of a miracle for them if an average DM was the difference between relegation and survival for them.

    They seem to disagree :)
Probably why they are linked with Nketiah, Nelson and Lookman though.

60 minutes of action, an injury already, and we've decided this 34 year old loanee is our best midfielder. Worrying if true :).

Now we just need to get rid of Gray and Deeney and it will be quite a good window.

  9. I don't know who Palace think they have bought but they are going to be mighty disappointed

We've signed 4 better midfielders this summer without having a pot to pi55 in

People criticism Hughes, but he has chosen guaranteed PL money regardless of what league the Nigels are in next yr. No brainer.

Can't remember Hughes having putting in many performances better than Kucka's against Villa

  15. Neat, tidy, but never on the level of Caps or Doucs, slow, Etebo instantly looks twice the players, Kucka four times the players,... that's the reality

Glad he's gone, we can now get on with signing a better DM

And if Turkish fans are to be believed, Tufan is better than Etebo and Kucka.

It really isn’t the reality. Hughes was an asset for a number of seasons and he will be missed.

Agree, though I would still be happy if both parties had a change of heart and he stayed. Kane is staying at Spurs (again)

It's the typical mutual commiserations that come out when one of our players leaves. Had he commited to the club a month ago everyone would have been delighted. Because he was gone he's poor, all our CM signings are better, and he's gone to a team that will finish below us.
It's probably not as good a move as he'd have expected but lower/mid prem is probably where he belongs.

Kane is staying because he has no choice, Hughes is going because he has a choice.

  21. I wanted him to stay, that was until I saw Etebo and Kucka, after that I rapidly lost interest in whatever happened to him

You could be right 19tgg, he has kind of backed himself to far into a corner. Therefore making a sideways move to the likes of Palarse was probably the only way he could save face and not look a complete fool.

i think it’s a bit disingenuous to call it a sideways move. palace are an established premier league side at this point, even if they flirt with relegation they have never followed through with it unlike us.

I would class them as a lower half team, not relegation battlers like us.

I'm not going to be blasé about Hughes leaving, the midfield has potential, but Etebo and Kucka won't always be around, Tufan could be good, but is an unknown quantity, the same with Chalobah really (and his future is up in the air anyway), however, if we can get the Yokuslu deal over the line and even have a little bit of pocket money left over, I'll be happy with that

It's clear that Kucka is probably the best midfielder in the bottom half of the table.

If you want to wait until the end of the season before declaring Etebo and Kucka better than Hughes be my guest, but the rest of us won't be waiting around for you

Well if they are, then I’ll certainly have a better breadth of evidence than one game.

I remember Paredes's debut (I think against Bolton?). He was the best player on the pitch, a few weeks later and he was a laughing stock... Now I wait before declaring a player amazing!

  34. Kucka has a CV than Hughes could only dream of:
11 seasons in Serie A, 3 in Super Lig
    90 caps for his country
Turns up here and puts in a quality dominant performance we never saw from Hughes in 4 seasons

That's all the evidence I need to know even at 34 he's levels above Hughes
