Agreed. It would be ideal if the new manager of QPR is a fan of Marvin and we could do a deal of say £4m + HH and Smithy. I think this would result in Marvins' loss not adversely affecting our fight against relegation this season.

How much wages do you think we would have to pay them, HH has just signed a new one year extension to his contract so 18 months on prem money and at his age he is not coming back for £5000 a week

Apparantly the bust up was because Warnock wanted to sign Yakubu but Tony Fernandes wanted to sign bigger names. If this is the case, I can't see Tommy getting much game play at all, he will be forced down the pecking order and will be warming the bench all season.

  5. Bubble

    Agreed with the above.

Smith is 31 now and would surely be wanting to play first team football on a regular basis. He's not a Premiership player, he's always fallen into that category of players where he's a cut above the Championship but not good enough in the Premiership.

like Eustace offer him the chance to do his coaching badges as well. Being 31 he only has 3 or 4 serious years left before he looks to taking another role

before long tommy will be surplus to requirements at QPR, we need to strike when that happens and bring him home.

Spot on. Always thought this. With a bit more pace he'd be a really solid top flight player.

Mark Hughes just taken over, will surely put his own stamp on things, sign a few new players, putting Tommy even further down the pecking order, this could be a possibility now!

Hughes will apparently be given £30m to spend in the transfer window. Welcome home Smith and possibly Heidar too?

Heidar is having a great season, cant see it personally

Smith back is feasible and would be amazing

Would love to have them both, but will Heidar come to a championship club when he is scoring in the premiership?

I guess it all comes down to who Hughes brings in.

I agree with this, because HH is scoring regularly, I can't see Hughes letting him go, more likely that someone like Jay Bothroyd will be let go, because I don't personally believe that he is a PL standard player.

HH is on fire at the moment and if MH doesn't want him, I am sure there are other lower level Prem clubs who would take him on (and could afford his wages) so I can't see him back here this year. Now Tommy is a possibility and one who would really make a difference to our team if he came back. The only question is can we afford him?

Helguson could easily do a job at a west brom, fulham, even at stoke...

we wouldnt get HH - but they do have a huge list of other strikers and they've taken Federico Macheda on loan. Players like Hulse and Mackie are struggling to get in the team.

But would they come to Watford?

I'm pretty sure we'll get Smith back - even if just on loan.

Smithy back would be amazing. Bring him in on loan until the end of the season and then as has been mentioned offer him a permanent deal with help with coaching badges. He could offer Watford so much for years to come and not just on the playing field. Come on Dyche - you know it makes sense

Tommy Smith would be utterly immense.. he'd certainly teach Yeates / Forsyth a thing or two about wing play.

Given that I firmly believe Sordell will be off this window, that leaves us with TWO striking positions to fill IMO. I reckon we'll pick up £3-4mil plus add ons for Sordell, we MUST be able to pick up two decent strikers for a mil a piece i reckon then bank (pay off debts) with the rest. McGinn coming back means we dont have to bring in a creative type player to replace Buaben (who really should be back up to that position IMO)

With the above, I think thats us done for the season trading wise...

    IN
    Smith (750k)
    TWO strikers (£2mil)

    Out
    Walker (free)
    Bryan (free)
    Iwelumo (no chance... free)
    Sordell (£3-4mil + add ons)

    Team

    Loach
    Hodson
    Nosworthy
    Marriappa
    ****inson
    Yeates
    Hogg
    McGinn
    Smith

You can have Smith. He is far too slow for the Prem just not good enough either. Stay away from Helguson please :)

I'm not saying you personally slated him, but remember when HH scored for fulham against us in the premership at the vic when we were 2-0 up and we buggered it up? After his celebration so many watford fans slated him, as if he had been a Judas for celebrating in that manner and that he should be grateful to watford for giving him his chance etc. But now he could be coming 'home' I bet no one will slate him for showing passion for his club and celebrating when he scores.
